Chapter 48

At this moment, the Roller Coaster was turning everyone’s faces pale.

Most roller coasters rely on height and speed to heighten tension and fear. However, Zhang Bei’s design was clearly built differently.

Ding Ye sat in the second row, with a familiar face seated beside him.

For the first five minutes, the Roller Coaster’s speed remained relatively steady, providing a pleasant series of rises and falls. This first stage was essentially the same as most amusement parks, serving as a five-minute acclimation period.

Once the five minutes were up, the Roller Coaster transitioned into the next segment of the track.

This marked the beginning of the second stage. Ding Ye stared at the track ahead, which plunged straight toward the bottom, and tucked his chin into his chest.

The sudden acceleration of the descent triggered a chorus of screams.

Though Ding Ye was a coward at heart, he could just barely tolerate this kind of speed, though his forehead was already beaded with cold sweat.

After clearing the slope, the Roller Coaster began to climb again.

This time, the ascent was agonizingly slow, and it caused everyone’s expressions to shift.

Fifty meters, seventy meters, one hundred meters!

This climb lasted for a full hundred meters!

Looking at the clouds that seemed close enough to touch, Ding Ye opened his mouth, his voice trembling.

“Why do I feel like… we’ve stopped?”

Ding Ye didn’t dare look down, but he could feel the Roller Coaster idling at a terrifying height.

What is the most frightening thing about an attraction like this?

It certainly isn’t the diving speed, nor is it being a hundred meters in the air.

It is exactly what was happening now: being stalled in mid-air.

Following Ding Ye’s words, everyone gripped their handrails tightly.

The design of the second stage finally began to reveal itself.

The entire track of the Roller Coaster began to vibrate slightly.

As it swayed from side to side, every shudder felt like a hammer blow to their hearts.

The shaking didn’t last long. Just before everyone’s emotions reached a breaking point, the Roller Coaster finally moved.

From a height of a hundred meters, the entire train suddenly lunged downward.

Bolstered by inertia, it maintained its breakneck speed even after reaching the bottom.

Before anyone could breathe a sigh of relief, a gap suddenly appeared in the track.

That’s right-the Roller Coaster track had a literal break in it.

The entire train seemed to split in two; the front half pitched forward as if falling, while the other half remained hanging on the rails.

At that moment, Ding Ye finally buckled under the pressure and let out a piercing scream.

This state lasted only a few seconds before a forceful shove from behind sent the Roller Coaster plummeting downward.

While they weren’t a hundred meters up anymore, they were still nearly fifty meters in the air!

Before anyone could even think of their last words, a powerful suction force took hold, snapping the Roller Coaster onto the track on the other side.

This was the piece of high-tech equipment Zhang Bei had purchased from the Future Mall.

Strong Magnetic Adsorption Technology!

Of course, it wasn’t exactly “black tech” in the strictest sense, as this technology had existed in the world for some time.

The System had simply refined it and miniaturized the equipment.

Having latched onto the track, the Roller Coaster entered its final stage.

This was the last ten minutes of the half-hour ride.

It was also the most thrilling segment of Zhang Bei’s design.

Qingqing was naturally on this ride as well, though she had been unable to stop herself from squeezing her eyes shut since the second stage began.

This thing was too terrifying; she hoped her weak heart would be forgiven for being unable to take it.

As the third stage began, the Roller Coaster started wobbling along the track like a drunkard.

And all of this was happening dozens of meters in the air!

The swaying journey had only just begun when the hanging sensation reappeared.

Only this time, it was the passengers in the back half who got to experience the feeling.
Before the screams could even ring out, the Roller Coaster simply split apart right down the middle.

The doctor watched the monitors, seeing tourists who had forgotten how to even scream, and silently prayed for them.

Zhang Bei had even given this segment a vivid name-Roller Coaster: I’m Splitting!

Human joys and sorrows are not shared; while Zhang Bei’s face beamed with a bright smile, the tourists were left with nothing but screams and despair.

Ding Ye stared at the half of the Roller Coaster that had landed on a different track below, having long since lost the ability to scream.

He seemed dazed, staring at a gap that appeared in the track ahead.

The already wobbling Roller Coaster seemed to receive an order and suddenly began to accelerate.

It cleared the gap with ease. Ding Ye took a long, deep breath.

The sunlight was so piercing that it reminded him of when he left home a long time ago.

*The thread in a kind mother’s hand, the clothes on the back of her wandering son.*

His mother’s smile and the worry in her voice over the phone surfaced in his mind one after another.

These final ten minutes consisted of countless gaps and countless leaps of faith.

The two halves of the Roller Coaster crisscrossed past each other before finally merging back together and coming to a stop.

Zhang Bei and the doctor had been waiting there for a long time. The doctor held a tablet, observing everyone’s heart rates.

Suddenly, his expression turned solemn. He tracked a specific signal via the Wristband and found Ding Ye.

“How are you feeling?”

A slight change finally appeared on Ding Ye’s wooden face.

“Oh, it’s the doctor… I just… I really miss home.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, his head tilted to the side, and he fainted on the spot.

The doctor, having worked on the front lines for years, was long familiar with the procedure.

He carefully checked Ding Ye’s heart rate and took a small, pale yellow bottle out of his medical kit.

If there were an elderly person in the house, they would definitely know this was called Suxiao Jiuxin Wan.

The situation the doctor had been worried about since the day he was hired had finally happened.

He stuffed the Suxiao Jiuxin Wan into Ding Ye’s mouth, pulled over a gurney, and sent Ding Ye straight into the Morgue.

Ding Ye’s issue wasn’t actually that serious; it was just that his emotional fluctuations were too extreme, and he couldn’t catch his breath.

In layman’s terms, he had basically been scared unconscious.

The doctor did a general check on everyone with significant heart rate fluctuations before finally breathing a sigh of relief.

Looking closely, over a hundred people were lying neatly on the floor of the Morgue.

Those who had fainted accounted for a staggering eighty percent.

Even the Drop Tower hadn’t made the doctor this nervous.

While that thing was terrifying, it didn’t cause such extreme emotional volatility in the tourists.

But the Roller Coaster was different. From the moment they sat down, their emotions were in a constant state of flux.

This kind of continuous emotional shifting was the easiest way to trigger intense fear.

Looking at the boss beside him, the doctor’s gaze instantly became resentful.

“Boss, why don’t we shorten the duration a bit?”

If it were only the first twenty minutes, the Roller Coaster wouldn’t have reached an eighty percent fainting rate.

But these last ten minutes were simply too terrifying.

The doctor seriously doubted that this thing would scare people into permanent health issues.

Zhang Bei shook his head firmly. “No. The tourists bought tickets, so I must give them the best experience possible. I won’t do something like cutting corners!”

The doctor’s mouth twitched, and he couldn’t help but retort, “Who the hell would even care about that!”

Zhang Bei’s expression remained resolute. “I care!”

“What’s the damn use of you caring? As the boss, you probably haven’t even ridden a single attraction in the Amusement Park!”

Of course, the doctor only grumbled that last part in his head. What if the boss suddenly got interested and dragged him along for a round of “employee benefits”?
