Chapter 200
Chapter 200
The three men sitting around the table looked as close as brothers.
They poured tea for one another, smiles plastered across all three of their faces.
And this was supposed to end in a fight?
Before the doctor could explain, the situation abruptly changed.
Zhang Bei hurled the teacup in his hand straight at Ninth Master, then lunged at Kou Fu beside him.
Ninth Master was no fool. The instant Zhang Bei made his move, he bolted into the distance.
“He’s wanted for murder! Stop him!”
At those words, several submariners immediately surrounded Ninth Master.
After Zhang Bei subdued Kou Fu, he glanced at the fight on the other side and instinctively took two steps back.
Brutal didn’t even begin to describe it.
Ninth Master’s once fair, delicate face was now black and blue. One arm hung limply at his side, clearly broken.
His own switchblade was buried in his thigh, just one centimeter from his family jewels.
The fight ended without the slightest suspense. The submariners even found it rather boring.
Zhang Bei rose from atop Kou Fu and rolled his shoulders, still feeling like he hadn’t even warmed up.
If he’d known, he would have stopped the other guy instead. This one hadn’t resisted at all. How boring!
Kou Fu lay on the ground, utterly baffled.
What had he even done? Why had they beaten him up?
Did they think he wouldn’t get up and fight back right now?!
Ninth Master stared blankly ahead as agony radiated from his thigh.
Where had these people come from?
Their combat ability was absurd!
The two men lying on the ground met each other’s eyes.
Kou Fu’s expression immediately stiffened.
Looks like not fighting back was the right call. This poor guy got absolutely wrecked.
Ninth Master’s eyes brimmed with confusion.
Why? They had both been beaten up, so why was he the only one in such a miserable state?!
Director Gu hurried all the way to the Amusement Park with his team.
“Where’s the murderer? Where is he?”
The doctor pointed at Kou Fu, who was drinking tea nearby, then at Ninth Master, who was wrapped head to toe in bandages.
“The boss said the first one was probably a misunderstanding. The other one has more than one murder on his record.”
Director Gu nodded and turned his gaze to Kou Fu.
“Name!”
“Sir! Kou Fu, sir!”
The formal response made Director Gu pause.
“Just get released?”
Kou Fu lowered his head. “Yes, sir!”
“Then live an honest life now that you’re out. You can go.”
“Thank you, sir!”
Director Gu then turned to Ninth Master, who was lying on the ground.
“You’re Old Ninth?”
“I’m not. You’ve got the wrong man. I’m just a thief.”
Director Gu studied his black-and-blue face with suspicion.
“Send a video to the neighboring city. Have them confirm whether he’s Old Ninth.”
“Yes, sir!”
Several detectives quickly contacted their counterparts in the neighboring city to verify his identity.
“Boss Gu, they say it’s him!”
A smile appeared on Director Gu’s face. It really was Old Ninth!
The neighboring city had been trying to catch him for years, only for him to fall into Director Gu’s hands.
He would have plenty to gloat about at the year-end conference!
“Take him away!”
Seeing the group about to leave, the doctor hurriedly spoke up.
“Um, you should probably take him to the hospital first.”
“Hm?”
“His right arm and left leg are fractured, three of his ribs are broken, and I can’t rule out internal bleeding. I only gave the wound on his inner thigh basic treatment, so it should be stitched up as soon as possible.”
Director Gu fell silent for a long moment.
“Take him to the hospital first. Keep a close eye on him.”
“Yes, sir!”
Director Gu watched his men leave, then turned to Zhang Bei.
“Thank you for your contribution, Boss Zhang. Next time, I’ll apply for a commendation banner for you!”
“No need. Just take them away!”
Once all his team members had left, Director Gu lowered his voice and leaned closer to Zhang Bei.
“Boss, can I ask which brat sent me a grave?”
“What?”
Director Gu took a moment to organize his thoughts. “My daughter called me last night. She said one of her colleagues admired me so much that he gave me a cemetery.”
Zhang Bei looked toward the water park.
Between Li Yang and Director Gu, he made his choice in an instant.
“I’ll take you to him!”
“Much appreciated, Boss Zhang!”
The two of them headed into the water park.
Zhang Bei pointed to the very top of the elevator. “His name’s Li Yang. He’s all the way up there.”
“All right. I’ll go up now!”
Director Gu stepped onto the elevator and rode it toward the top.
The doctor who had followed them all the way hesitated, looking like he wanted to say something.
In the end, he couldn’t suppress his confusion. “Boss, isn’t the only way down from there… the slide?”
The smile on Zhang Bei’s face instantly stiffened.
He turned to Kou Fu nearby. “I misunderstood you today. Pick anything you want to ride-it’s on me!”
Indeed, Boss Zhang believed that since he had wronged the man, it was only right to compensate him somehow.
The doctor was speechless.
You’re completely ignoring me, aren’t you?!
He’s still a Director, for crying out loud! You might not be afraid of this place getting shut down, but I’m afraid of losing my job!
Still worried, the doctor simply grabbed his medical kit and stood guard at the bottom of the slide.
Kou Fu thought for a long moment. “Can I ride that Roller Coaster?”
Zhang Bei nodded. “Sure. I’ll take you there!”
“Thank you, Boss!”
Although Kou Fu had taken a beating, Zhang Bei hadn’t hit him too hard. He had merely knocked him down.
Now that the misunderstanding had been cleared up, there was naturally no bad blood between them.
Zhang Bei escorted him all the way onto the Roller Coaster and fastened his safety harness as usual.
“Have fun!”
Kou Fu stretched and swept his gaze around the area.
This Boss really was a great guy!
Not only was he helping treat Kou Fu’s daughter, but he was even letting him enjoy the attractions for free.
Before the Roller Coaster had even started, Li Yang was already staring at Director Gu with his scalp tingling.
“So you’re the brat who gave me a grave?”
“Uncle Gu, let me explain!”
“All right. Go ahead.”
Li Yang opened his mouth, but no words came out.
How was he supposed to explain this?
I wanted to share a grave with your daughter?
If he actually said that, Director Gu might throw him straight off the top!
His thought process might be a little unusual, but he wasn’t an idiot!
Director Gu patted Li Yang on the shoulder.
“Forget it. I only wanted to ask whether I could give that cemetery to a fallen hero.”
“Huh?”
Director Gu lit a cigarette, a trace of sorrow in his eyes. “One of my comrades was just killed in the line of duty. That cemetery of yours looked pretty large.”
How could Li Yang possibly care about anything else now?
What was this?
This was his way out!
“It’s yours now, so of course you can do whatever you want with it!”
Director Gu smiled and patted Li Yang on the shoulder again.
“Good lad. When you have time, come over for dinner with my daughter!”
Li Yang nodded frantically. “Thank you, Uncle Gu!”
What did they call this?
A blessing in disguise!
What did they call this?
When one door closed, another opened!
Director Gu gazed out at the scenery from high above. His hand paused as he stubbed out his cigarette.
“How do we get down from here?”
Li Yang’s heart, which had only just settled, leaped back into his throat.
“Well… from here, I think… maybe… the only way down is to slide.”
Director Gu fell silent as he looked at the inflatable tube beside him.
“Slide down?”
“Yeah. It’s the only way down!”
