Chapter 211
Chapter 211
“That Jin Ke La?”
“Obviously. Fertilizer is made from shit, of course.”
“Urgh!”
Heizi had never imagined there would come a day when he ate shit.
Nor had he imagined he would be the one eagerly shoveling it into his mouth.
The laughter in the secretary’s eyes was practically spilling out.
How long had it been? How long had it been since the secretary had felt this happy?
Heizi stood rooted to the spot, his face turning red, then livid.
“I just want to know why the script ended right after I ate that thing!”
“The part where you gain power hasn’t been built yet. It’s still only half-finished.”
Heizi’s face darkened further, and he swung a fist at Zhang Bei.
He had endured countless hardships. He had even eaten shit.
All so he could gain incredible power and have some fun with it.
And now Zhang Bei was telling him the rest of the script hadn’t even been written?
Zhang Bei raised an eyebrow, swiftly took up a stance, and lashed out with a roundhouse kick.
Logically speaking, the two of them had been taught by the same master.
Their experiences growing up hadn’t been all that different either, so this should have been an evenly matched fight.
Unfortunately for Heizi, Zhang Bei had faced danger after danger ever since the Amusement Park was established.
By now, his martial prowess had reached extraordinary heights.
Thus, in less than a minute, Heizi was pinned to the floor in a joint lock.
The secretary eagerly pulled a gun-shaped device from their waist and pressed it against Heizi.
It was a stun gun prepared according to Zhang Bei’s instructions. The powerful current was more than enough to knock someone unconscious.
They wouldn’t stay out for long, but it would be enough time to strap Heizi back into the chair.
Bzzzt!
The crackle of electricity reached the secretary’s ears.
Unfortunately, Boss Zhang currently had both hands wrapped around Heizi in a joint lock.
Unsurprisingly, the fury in both men’s eyes froze in place at the exact same moment.
The secretary’s expression stiffened at the sight of the two unconscious men.
Fuck. Did I just screw up?
What kind of secretary knocks out both Big Boss and Second Boss at the same time?!
After a moment of contemplation, a cold gleam flashed through the secretary’s eyes.
Might as well go all the way!
The night was dark, the wind was high, and no one would ever know!
One minute later, Heizi and Zhang Bei were seated in the chairs with their glasses securely in place.
Steeling their resolve, the secretary opened the control panel on the tablet.
Several scripts popped up. After a long moment of deliberation, the secretary’s gaze finally settled on the Thirteen-Layer Dreamscape.
This was the only script title displayed in red. It had to be special, right?
Zhang Bei slowly opened his eyes.
He never would have guessed. He truly never would have guessed!
Even his innocent-looking little secretary was black-hearted!
With a long sigh, he swept his gaze around him.
He was still in the Amusement Park, except it now looked as though it had been abandoned for untold years.
The Thirteen-Layer Dreamscape was intended to be their next killer attraction. After all this time spent developing it, it now contained more than three hundred layers.
Each session randomly selected thirteen layers to form a single dreamscape.
No one could know what the next layer would be.
But he was Zhang Bei!
As the creator of this dreamscape, how could he possibly not leave himself a back door?
Then again, it couldn’t really be called a back door. It was merely a method everyone knew about.
Zhang Bei casually picked up a sharp stone from the ground and plunged it straight into his heart.
As his consciousness faded, the first layer was cleared.
The rest was much simpler. Every time Zhang Bei woke up, he grabbed whatever was nearby and used it to kill himself.
In less than two minutes, all thirteen layers had been cleared!
The secretary stared wide-eyed as the boss removed his glasses.
“Is it too late for me to explain myself?”
Zhang Bei lit a cigarette. “Are you getting into position yourself, or do I have to put you there?”
The secretary glanced at Zhang Bei’s clenched fists and very wisely sat down in the chair and put on the glasses.
Zhang Bei tapped on the tablet a few times, even opening a password-protected interface.
The secretary could only faintly hear him say, “It’s not like this thing can be used anyway, so I might as well let you experience it.”
With time on his hands, Zhang Bei had once written a short scenario designed to work with a piece of Black Tech.
After finishing it, however, he discovered that it had the same problem as Thirteen-Layer Dreamscape.
Memory Attenuation had to be used to eliminate its lingering effects, and the process alone took at least twenty minutes!
As a result, the scenario had been shelved ever since.
Thanks to his own death wish, the secretary became its first test subject.
An eerie strain of background music sounded in his ears, and the secretary groggily opened his eyes.
Huh?
It felt like he had forgotten something.
He thought for a long while before giving up. If he couldn’t remember, there was no point dwelling on it.
“Honey, when are we getting married?”
The secretary looked bewildered. “Getting married?”
Did he have a girlfriend?
What was he thinking? They had known each other for seven years!
They had met in college and stayed together every step of the way until today.
Now that he had a successful career, he could be considered a winner in life.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. I was just wondering where we should hold the wedding.”
As soon as he finished speaking, a shrill alarm blared.
A squad of soldiers rushed into the park immediately afterward.
“We’re under air attack! Follow me to the bomb shelter right now!”
The secretary’s mind went blank. Grabbing his girlfriend’s hand, he hurried after the soldiers.
War broke out, and the wealth he had spent years accumulating was reduced to ashes overnight.
Without the country, there could be no home.
From that day onward, everything changed.
They lived in a refugee camp, collecting meager food rations each day.
They also had to watch out for bullets that might come flying out of nowhere at any moment.
His girlfriend was so terrified that she hid in their room and refused to go outside.
In a world where order had collapsed, the consequences of a defenseless young woman going out alone were too horrifying to imagine.
Zhang Bei wasn’t idle, either. His gaze remained fixed on the fluctuating data displayed on the tablet.
This scenario made use of a piece of Black Tech.
It was one of the standard features of Another Life: memory implantation.
It allowed the user to truly live through an entirely different life.
The scenario also had a fitting title: “Reincarnation!”
Meanwhile, the secretary sitting in the chair had reached the greatest crisis of his new life.
“Give me a few more days! I swear I’ll pay you back!”
“Screw off! You’re dirt poor! What are you going to pay me back with?”
The speaker was a burly, heavyset man. He kicked the secretary aside.
“I’m taking your wife with me. Once she’s earned enough money for me, I’ll naturally let her come back.”
At those words, the secretary found strength from somewhere and sprang up from the ground.
“I’m begging you! I swear I’ll repay the money. Please let her go!”
“Get lost! Stop making me sick!”
The man waved a hand. His subordinates expertly produced a tranquilizer syringe and dragged her away.
The secretary sat on the ground with tears streaming down his face.
A crushing sense of helplessness rose within him.
As he watched the group preparing to leave, his eyes filled with raw, blood-soaked hatred.
A battered handgun appeared in his hand.
Trembling, the secretary raised it and aimed at the man’s head.
“Bang!”
Blood and brain matter sprayed through the air. The unexpected gunshot sent the rest of the group fleeing in panic.
It was as if the secretary awakened at that very moment. He tucked the bullets inside his coat.
