Chapter 277
Chapter 277
At Heizi’s command, Cha Bing emerged from a corner and hurried toward Zhang Bei.
Ever since Li Yang had contacted them with his proposal, these people had been plotting in secret.
Was there anyone on the entire Island who hadn’t suffered under Boss Zhang?
Nobody was going to turn down a chance to screw him over.
“Boss, something’s happened in Zootopia. Could you come take a look?”
Cha Bing sounded anxious, his eyes full of sincerity.
Inside, however, he was bitterly miserable.
Someone had to make a sacrifice for the plan to work.
Unfortunately, when they drew lots, he had drawn the sacrificial role.
No one could understand his despair, much less the fear he felt as he spoke those words.
Zhang Bei nodded. “Show me.”
He followed Cha Bing along.
They had just reached the jungle at a brisk walk when a voice came over the radio.
“Captain, we’ve found something in Sector Three. We need to investigate.”
“I’ll be right there. Secure the area first!”
Cha Bing turned to Zhang Bei. “Boss, would you mind…?”
“Tell me where it is. Go take care of your work.”
It never occurred to Zhang Bei that someone would plot against him on his own island.
“About five hundred meters straight ahead. You’ll understand when you see it.”
“All right!”
Cha Bing hurried out of sight and took out a remote control.
Meanwhile, our Boss Zhang quickened his pace.
Five hundred meters wasn’t far, just a few minutes’ walk.
Up ahead, a lion lay beside a thicket; whether it was alive or dead, he couldn’t tell.
Zhang Bei frowned and was about to go closer for a look.
Suddenly, alarm flared inside him.
Unfortunately, it was already too late.
The instant Cha Bing saw him enter the trap, he pressed the remote without hesitation.
A huge fishing net sprang up from the ground, hoisting Zhang Bei into the air in the blink of an eye.
Ding! One Boss Zhang captured alive!
Zhang Bei sighed as he looked down at the distant ground.
Plotting against him on his own island. Those people really had outdone themselves.
He glanced at his watch and began working out who was behind this.
Cha Bing was only a pawn. There had to be more than one person involved.
First, Heizi must have used his access privileges on the Island.
A bunch of mercenaries didn’t have the authorization to set a trap like this.
But a man who thought about nothing except blowing things up could never have devised this plan.
Was capturing him alive really all Li Yang had in mind, though?
Cha Bing gently pressed his radio button. “Phase one successful. Begin phase two.”
A strong, resonant voice replied, “Understood!”
After watching the scene on the monitor, Song Xin set off toward the jungle.
Of course. After being fed all those croton beans, how could their master miss this opportunity?
Li Yang had spent almost half a month planning this. He had covered every detail.
What’s more, he was staying behind the scenes throughout the operation.
Until victory was certain, he would never show himself!
On hearing the message over the radio, Heizi headed into the primeval jungle with a satisfied smile.
What came next would be a beautiful sight. He had to witness it in person!
Still dangling in the air, Zhang Bei stopped pondering and fixed his gaze on the figure approaching from a distance.
“My dear disciple, what sort of performance art is this?”
“What a wonderful master you are!”
“Naturally. Everyone knows how dearly I love my disciples!”
Their eyes met. Suddenly, Song Xin sensed that something was wrong.
He knew his disciple. If Zhang Bei were truly in danger, he wouldn’t be this relaxed.
Which meant he still had a way out!
But was that possible?
Before coming here, Cha Bing had confirmed that Zhang Bei carried nothing capable of cutting through the net.
Even so, something about this felt wrong.
“My dear master, who contacted you this time?”
“My dear disciple, why would you think I’d tell you?”
With those exquisitely polite exchanges, their probing came to an end.
A smile touched Zhang Bei’s lips.
His master hadn’t said anything, but the tone of their conversation was enough for Zhang Bei to deduce a few things.
“Heizi contacted you, but an employee at the amusement park planned this?”
As his master’s pupils contracted, Zhang Bei slowly unfastened his watch.
He didn’t yet know which employee, but an investigation would turn them up eventually.
These people wouldn’t simply leave him hanging here. There had to be more waiting for him.
Too bad. It was useless now!
Boss Zhang had no intention of waiting for them to play their next card. Keeping control in his own hands was what mattered!
He pressed a switch on his watch, and a slender blade sprang out.
For someone with such an advanced persecution complex, the idea that a mere trap could hold him was pure fantasy!
Song Xin watched the net part beneath the blade and remained silent for a long time.
The plan had been meticulous. They had even accounted for Zhang Bei’s fighting ability.
Otherwise, they wouldn’t have asked Song Xin to oversee it.
But even the best plans had flaws. The quality of this net left a great deal to be desired.
Zhang Bei freed himself from the tangled net and strode over to Song Xin.
“Master, why don’t you just enjoy the show from here?”
“All right!”
Faced with his disciple’s threat, Song Xin wisely chose to defect.
After all, one helping of noodles made with croton powder was enough. He had no desire to experience that a second time.
And so, when Heizi arrived in the jungle, eagerly carrying a water gun, he found a scene of perfect harmony.
His master stood to one side, enjoying some fruit.
Zhang Bei clenched his fists as he watched Heizi approach.
“B-Brother Bei, would you believe me if I said I came to rescue you?”
“What’s that in your hand?”
Heizi hurriedly tossed the water gun aside. “A weapon for self-defense!”
Smiling, Zhang Bei picked it up.
He shook the unidentified liquid inside, and his gaze turned sharp.
“Tell me. What is this?”
Heizi shivered. “Paint! Green paint!”
Zhang Bei narrowed his eyes, aimed the water gun at Heizi, and pulled the trigger.
If these people were plotting against him, there was no way they had filled it with mere paint.
“Fuck! Don’t!”
Terror filled Heizi’s eyes as the jet splashed onto him.
He had helped devise the plan. To be safe, he had even brought Guan Guo into it.
Guan Guo had made the stuff inside the water gun.
It certainly wasn’t green paint. It was Itching Solution, bubbling green.
Get even a little on your skin, and for the next ten minutes you would enjoy the thrilling sensation of ants crawling all over you.
Zhang Bei walked up to the writhing Heizi, struggling to suppress his laughter.
“Well? Whose plan was it this time?”
Under threat of the Itching Solution, Heizi sold out his teammate without a moment’s hesitation.
