Chapter 89
Chapter 89
(Didn’t see this coming, did you? I sneakily added an extra update!)
The two of them had only come out for a quick bit of fun while the kid’s mother wasn’t around.
But then the brat had gone and fainted on the spot. How was Cao Jia supposed to explain that when they got home?
He knew his own son all too well. With that rotten personality of his, the boy would absolutely go tattle to his mother.
As Cao Jia watched the staff help unbuckle his seat belt, he tried to stand up before the doctor could even reach him.
Who would have thought that harsh reality would instantly shatter the last line of defense in Cao Jia’s heart?
Floating down from the sky had already drained every bit of strength from his body. Standing up was not going to be that easy.
He only made it halfway through the motion before his knees went weak and he dropped straight to the ground.
The doctor had just taken out his stethoscope. Seeing the man kneeling in front of him, he fell silent at once.
In the end, the doctor was the one who broke the quiet. “No need to thank me. It’s my duty.”
Cao Jia forced a sentence out through gritted teeth. “My legs went weak!”
The doctor gave a light cough and hurriedly helped Cao Jia over to the Morgue.
It had to be said that after spending so much time at the amusement park, the doctor’s speed had improved tremendously.
Even after examining a full sixty people, it had not taken him much time at all.
Looking at the Morgue in front of him gradually filling up, a strange sense of pride rose in his heart.
The doctor quickly slapped his own face. What am I feeling proud about?
Is this something worth being proud of?
Seeing that the Ferris Wheel off to the side was nearly finished as well, the doctor shouldered his medical kit and hurried over.
Children recovered quickly thanks to their boundless energy, and it did not take long for Little Cao to wake up.
Little Cao looked at his father, and a wave of humiliation surged up in his heart.
What kind of parent lost his own son in midair?
No wonder his father had wanted to bring him to the Amusement Park. He had even schemed against him by making him finish his homework ahead of time.
Cao Jia felt his scalp prickle under his son’s stare.
“What are you planning to do?”
“I was thinking… you secretly brought me to the amusement park, and then there’s the private stash of money behind the wedding photo…”
He did not finish, but Cao Jia completely understood what his son meant.
“You’re ruthless. Fine, tell me what you want.”
Little Cao glanced toward the Giant Swing not far away. “Go on, Dad!”
Cao Jia clenched his teeth hard. “You little brat. You’d better hope there never comes a day when you fall into my hands!”
“Before that happens, you should think about how you’re going to survive.”
Little Cao’s voice was very calm. He had been paying attention to this Amusement Park for a long time.
He had already thoroughly researched which attraction could best torment Cao Jia.
“Fine. Wait for me here!”
Dragging his weakened legs, Cao Jia walked into the line for the Giant Swing.
Even if his wife found out he had brought their son to the Amusement Park, it would not be that big of a deal.
But the private stash…
Behind the wedding photo was the result of an entire year of his hard work.
If that brat got it all seized in one clean sweep, he would not even have anywhere to cry.
Just thinking about how the boy had managed to find such a well-hidden spot gave him an even worse headache.
The Giant Swing had been around for quite some time by now, and at this point, a group of people devoted specifically to the Giant Swing had even emerged.
They did not ride it themselves. Whenever they came to the Amusement Park, they simply squatted off to the side, ready at any moment to record the scenes of that cult-like ceremony.
Naturally, Cao Jia saw them too, each one holding a phone and waiting solemnly.
However, after giving them only a brief glance, he did not pay them much attention.
After all, his own son was watching him from behind. For the sake of his private stash, he had to ride the Giant Swing at least once.
Soon, Cao Jia sat down in the seat and let the staff put the protective gear on him and fasten his safety belt.
A pair of hands waved left and right.
Huh?
This thing didn’t have armrests?
The owner hadn’t installed any?
Before his brain could come up with an answer, music started playing, and the Giant Swing lurched into motion.
“Holy crap, that was fast!”
Cao Jia clutched the safety belt with both hands, his entire body curled tight against the seat.
For five whole minutes, Cao Jia stayed frozen in that exact position.
His body had long since gone stiff, and at some point, drool had even flown onto his face.
Suddenly, a mechanical sound rang out.
“No, no!”
Cao Jia watched helplessly as the wheels on the outer ring kept shifting, then finally split apart.
In the blink of an eye, the Giant Swing shot into the sky.
As Cao Jia watched the sky draw closer and closer, he gradually calmed down.
I regret everything. Wasn’t it just a little secret stash of money?
If I could do it all over again, I’d beat that brat up first.
His thoughts ended there. His eyes rolled shut, and he fainted on the spot.
Meanwhile, the cultists gathered beneath the Giant Swing had begun their own operation.
“Quick, quick, quick! Get Camera Position One set up! We’re about to have two hundred photos!”
“Don’t crowd together! Position Three is still empty!”
After a flurry of activity, three cameras were aimed at the Giant Swing from different angles.
Happy times were always brief, and the Giant Swing soon slid back down to the ground.
Once the staff unfastened the safety belts, the grand cult ceremony was finally revealed in full.
Looking at the group kneeling in perfectly neat rows, Professor Yao nearly burst out laughing.
A spectacle like this could only be seen at this one-of-a-kind Amusement Park.
Still, a doctor’s heart was full of compassion, so he took out the Suxiao Jiuxin Wan and began checking them one by one.
Little Cao looked at the unconscious Cao Jia and gave a soft chuckle, then quietly waited for the examination to end.
Before long, Cao Jia was sent to the wooden plank bed in the Morgue.
Little Cao quietly took out his phone, worked up his emotions for a moment, and only then dialed the number.
“What’s wrong, son?”
The gentle voice from the other end of the line made the corners of Little Cao’s mouth curl up.
“Mom, how much longer until you get home?”
“A little over ten minutes. I’m already on the way.”
This time, Little Cao’s voice turned tearful.
“Dad wanted to come out and play, so he brought me to the Amusement Park, then dumped me here and ignored me!”
The other end of the line instantly went quiet. A full dozen seconds passed before a voice came through again.
“You’re still at the Amusement Park right now, aren’t you?”
“Mm-hmm. I’m so bored, Mom!”
“Wait there. I’m coming over right now!”
Little Cao was just about to hang up when his mother’s voice rang out again.
“Where did your dad get the money?”
At that question, cold sweat instantly broke out on Little Cao’s forehead.
I’m done for!
If he answered this wrong, never mind Dad’s secret stash-even his own little savings would be exposed.
After a brief pause, Little Cao glanced at his unconscious dad.
Forget it. Better him than me.
“I saw Dad take the money out from under the fridge!”
One should always leave room for future peace. Even after nearly being driven into a dead end, Little Cao still chose a hiding place that wasn’t that important.
At this point, sacrificing the pawn to save the king was what mattered!
An icy voice came through the phone. “Fifteen minutes. Tell your father to wait for me!”
Looking at the call that had been hung up, Little Cao silently glanced at his unconscious dad.
Had he gone a little too far?
Forget it. Dad was the one who abandoned him in the sky first.
The fact that he hadn’t exposed the secret cash behind the wedding photo or dug out the bank card under the TV cabinet already counted as showing mercy.
