Chapter 76
Chapter 76
One jiangshi after another, all dressed in Qing dynasty clothing, crawled out of the coffins.
Qingqing had already been standing very close to the coffins, so she could see the jiangshi in full detail.
Its face was nothing but bluish skin stretched over bone, and only hollow pits remained where its eyes should have been.
Bits of flesh hung from its protruding fangs as its hands slowly reached toward Qingqing.
After everything she had been put through, Qingqing erupted with unimaginable strength at that moment.
She used every ounce of strength in her body to shove the jiangshi in front of her away, then ran deeper into the Underground Maze.
In the blink of an eye, Qingqing’s path was blocked by a large door.
The place where the lock cylinder should have been installed had been modified into a three-by-three grid.
Qingqing’s mind raced, and almost instantly, she figured out the mechanism behind the puzzle.
Sudoku!
Each row and each column had to add up to exactly nine!
The jiangshi behind her were closing in, and Qingqing displayed astonishing hand speed.
In just five short seconds, she solved the three-by-three grid.
The moment she heard the mechanism click, Qingqing threw herself through the door.
Then she braced her body hard against the wooden door, holding it shut.
Only after doing all that did Qingqing finally have time to look inside.
The room was not very large. It looked more like an ordinary living room.
A mahjong table sat in the very center, and beside it was a slightly worn-out sofa.
Qingqing’s gaze locked onto the pile of chips on the mahjong table in an instant.
Among that pile of chips, a numbered card stood out conspicuously.
At this point, Qingqing could not care about anything else. She quickly stepped forward and picked up the card.
Then something changed.
The moment the card reached her hand, a voice slowly rang out.
“Hehehe, we have a guest.”
As the voice sounded, the entire room transformed in an instant.
The once-empty room was now packed with ghostly figures.
In front of the mahjong table, a hanged ghost with its tongue lolling out stared fixedly at Qingqing.
Beside the hanged ghost, another ghost was continuously stuffing its intestines back into its stomach.
Not far away, several different ghosts were sitting on the sofa.
And at that exact moment, every ghost stood up and began walking toward Qingqing.
Qingqing’s mind had actually reached its limit long ago. The only reason she had held on for this long was a single belief driving her forward.
Now that Card Number Ten was in her hand, and with such an intense shock piled on top of everything else, her eyes simply rolled back and she passed out.
The doctor slowly pushed a cart down the passage. When he saw Qingqing lying unconscious on the floor, he could not help but sigh.
This girl really was tenacious. Ever since the hidden mechanism in Passage Eighty-Five had been designed, tourists had challenged it before.
Most of them made it as far as the jiangshi and fainted on the spot.
The dolls placed inside those coffins were enough to make even the doctor’s scalp prickle when he was not wearing the glasses.
Let alone what these tourists had experienced along the way.
He checked Qingqing’s heart rate, and only after confirming that nothing was wrong did he place her onto the cart.
However, when he saw the glasses lying off to the side, the doctor still could not suppress his own urge to court death.
Driven by curiosity, he put the glasses on his nose.
The direction the doctor was facing happened to be straight toward the mahjong table. The instant he saw what appeared through the lenses, he shuddered.
Holy crap!
Was this damn thing meant for humans to play?
He placed the glasses into the recycling box and spent several full seconds calming himself before he recovered.
When he looked at the empty room again, the doctor still felt his scalp tingling.
He quickly pushed the cart away through the Employee Passage.
Qingqing had been tormented in the Amusement Park for quite a while, but it did not take long for her to wake up.
When she woke up, she was still a little dazed.
But the moment her gaze shifted to the card in her hand, she burst into a smile.
“Boss, boss! I found the last card!”
The words had barely left her mouth when a crowd of visitors immediately gathered around her.
“Holy crap, you got it that fast?”
“Qingqing, where did you find it?”
“This is ridiculous. Qingqing actually found it?”
Seeing that Qingqing was awake, Zhang Bei walked over as well and handed her the box he was carrying.
“Your prize!”
Qingqing beamed as she hugged the box to her chest.
“Qingqing, open it and let us see!”
“Yeah, yeah, hurry up and open it!”
Qingqing did not hesitate. She opened the box right away. Inside was a card and a numbered certificate.
The certificate stated that it was the reward for the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, while one side of the card was printed with three large words: Skill Card!
Qingqing flipped the Skill Card over and read out the contents written on it.
“Barrier: Guarantees that no ghosts will appear in the Underground Maze for five minutes.”
Qingqing’s eyes lit up as she looked at the skill description. “Boss, does five minutes mean not a single ghost will appear?”
Zhang Bei nodded. “That’s right. For five minutes, no matter how far you run, absolutely no ghosts will appear.”
Qingqing carefully put the Skill Card away. “Then are there other Skill Cards too?”
Zhang Bei smiled. “Of course there are. And they’re all in the Underground Maze.”
The moment they heard Zhang Bei’s words, the whole crowd charged toward the Underground Maze in a grand procession.
Skill Cards were good stuff. If they found one, wouldn’t they have a chance to become the first person to clear the Maze?
That was the card numbered 01-the symbol of a true powerhouse!
Zhang Bei did not linger. After handing Qingqing her prize, he turned and left.
The final trophy’s set of cards had been completed, and the Skill Cards for the next event had successfully caught the visitors’ interest.
Before anyone realized it, afternoon had arrived. A mid-sized bus stopped at the entrance of the Amusement Park.
Teacher Li led the group as a crowd of fresh-faced students curiously observed everything inside the Amusement Park.
Teacher Li had visited the Amusement Park many times by now, so he was fairly familiar with the place.
It did not take him long to find Li Yang, who was maintaining order.
“Where’s your boss?”
Li Yang immediately smiled when he saw Teacher Li. “He’s in the restaurant. Follow me!”
The students who had come for their internships were still full of goodwill toward their senior.
They surrounded Li Yang the entire way.
“Senior, I heard your wages are especially high. Is that true?”
Li Yang thought about it. Based on this month’s visitor traffic, his commission alone was already over five thousand.
“It is pretty decent. It should be around the average income level?”
“Senior, is your work really busy?”
“Not that busy. We work from eight in the morning to six in the evening, and we get a break at noon.”
“Senior, can we play for free?”
The one who asked this question was a young girl, and she was staring at the Roller Coaster nearby.
The corner of Li Yang’s mouth twitched. When he had first arrived, he had once entertained the same idea. The amusement park really did let employees play as much as they wanted.
It was just that now, even if someone paid him to go on the rides, he would have to think twice.
“If you want to ride it, I guess you can during the noon break.”
Judging by their boss’s wicked personality, Li Yang was afraid this group would not escape his torment either.
At the very least, a trip on the Drop Tower was definitely guaranteed.
If there was enough time, taking a spin on the Roller Coaster was not impossible either.
And if they ran into someone stubborn and competitive, there was even hope of sending them straight onto the Ejection Chair.
Before long, their group arrived at the restaurant. Even from far away, they could already smell a wave of delicious aroma.
