Chapter 182
Chapter 182
The NPC stood rooted to the spot, his grotesque mask still on his face.
His toes curled with such embarrassment that he wanted to dig a three-bedroom apartment into the floor.
What should an NPC do after getting mocked by visitors?
Waiting online. This is urgent!
Li Yang walked over as well and looked the NPC up and down.
“No, seriously, man. That mask looks way too fake. You should consider replacing it.”
Qingqing glanced at her watch. “We’re heading off. Have fun by yourself!”
The NPC watched them disappear into the distance, his eyes brimming with humiliation.
In his three years on the job, this was the first time visitors had dealt such a crushing blow to his confidence.
Meanwhile, Qingqing and Li Yang were solving the mechanisms far faster than anyone could have imagined.
In less than ten minutes, the only place they had yet to visit was the final office.
Li Yang stretched, a bell in his hand. “We should be almost done, right?”
“According to the storyline, we just have to avenge the girl who jumped from the building, and then her soul can pass on.”
“This plot is beyond saving.”
Qingqing nodded. Her gaze drifted down the hallway, and she suddenly stopped in her tracks. “Want to try playing a different way?”
Li Yang followed her gaze and spotted a well-concealed hidden door.
“NPC Passage?”
A spark of excitement flashed in Qingqing’s eyes. “Well? Interested?”
Li Yang thought for two seconds. “What do you have in mind?”
“Let’s get inside first!”
The two of them sneaked through the hidden door and made their way into the Employee Passage.
The passage resembled a changing room, with all sorts of masks and costumes scattered across the floor.
They quickly changed into two costumes, then slipped back out through the hidden door.
Qingqing lowered her voice. “The office first!”
“Okay!”
They opened the office door, and Qingqing immediately crawled under the desk.
“Find somewhere to hide. Once the next scene starts, the NPCs will be here any second!”
Li Yang glanced around before hiding behind the door.
At that moment, several NPCs were gathered in another room.
“Leave this to us!”
“Maybe we shouldn’t go. I don’t think those two are easy to mess with.”
“No way! This is about dignity: the dignity of us NPCs!”
“Let’s go. It looks like they’ve already reached the last scene.”
“Come on, let’s move!”
A horde of demons and monsters made their way through the Employee Passage and arrived outside the office.
One of them raised a remote and pressed several buttons in succession.
A frigid gust swept through the room as eerie sobbing began to echo around them.
“Where are they?”
“Where did those two go?”
The NPCs stared at the empty room in confusion.
Five figures stood in the doorway, none of the NPCs noticing that Li Yang had quietly slipped into their ranks.
Watching Li Yang’s maneuver from her hiding place, Qingqing nearly burst out laughing.
“Hehehehe…”
An eerie laugh rang through the dim office.
The NPCs instantly broke out in cold sweat.
A flash of lightning streaked across the window, illuminating a ghostly face drenched in blood right in front of them.
“Holy shit!”
“A ghost!”
“Help!”
People had a herd mentality. In such a creepy environment, all it took was one person to start running, and everyone else would follow.
Still laughing, Qingqing chased them the entire way.
Only after racing through two hidden doors did they finally shake off the sinister figure.
The group of five collapsed onto the floor.
In the darkness, Li Yang stared at a button on his costume and scratched his head.
What was this thing for?
Without the slightest hesitation, Li Yang, the Master of Courting Death, pressed it.
An ear-piercing shriek suddenly rang out.
The people who had just sat down nearly jumped out of their skins.
“What the hell? Do you have nothing better to do?!”
“It wasn’t me!”
“Me neither!”
“My costume can’t make that sound.”
The room fell silent in an instant.
Lightning flashed, illuminating a sinister ghostly figure standing right beside them.
Another round of screams erupted, no less piercing than the first.
The NPCs fled for the exit, wailing like banshees.
Li Yang reached out a hand, only to watch them disappear from sight.
Was he really that scary?
What was so frightening about such a crude mask?
They were way too timid, weren’t they?
Still puzzled, Li Yang searched until he found Qingqing.
“Where are the others?”
“They ran away. I couldn’t catch them.”
Li Yang fell silent for a moment. “So… did we clear it?”
“Let’s call it cleared.”
Outside, when Luo Yi saw that the two of them had already reached the office, he simply took Zhang Bei to wait for them at the exit.
“All our employees undergo professional training. We can absolutely guarantee the best possible experience for every visitor.”
Luo Yi’s voice brimmed with pride. After all, not every Amusement Park was willing to spend money training its staff.
A chorus of bloodcurdling screams suddenly rang out, drawing everyone’s attention.
A horde of ghosts and monsters came scrambling out, tripping over themselves in their desperation to escape.
Zhang Bei stared at them for a long moment. “Professional training?”
Luo Yi let out an awkward laugh. “Well, it’s understandable that some people are a little timid.”
Qingqing and Li Yang followed behind the fleeing group at a leisurely pace.
“The set design was pretty good.”
“The staff were just too easily frightened.”
“Some of the mechanisms in the classroom are getting a little old.”
“The puzzles could be more complex too.”
Each of their comments brought Luo Yi closer to tears.
I really brought this on myself. Seriously.
Why did I have to send them that invitation when I had nothing better to do?!
He could already imagine it. Once word of today’s disaster got out, his peers would be laughing at him for an entire year.
Zhang Bei noticed a crowd gathered nearby and walked over with interest.
It was a classic balloon-shooting game. Anyone who hit all thirty balloons could choose a realistic replica handgun as their prize.
Luo Yi picked up the toy gun with one hand. “Want to give it a try, Boss Zhang?”
“Sure. It’s been a long time since I last played.”
Zhang Bei took the toy gun from Luo Yi, cocked it, and happily opened fire.
“Bang! Bang! Bang!”
Shot after shot rang out, and all thirty balloons burst in rapid succession.
Seeing the murderous intensity in Zhang Bei’s eyes, Luo Yi silently took two steps back.
Definitely not someone I can afford to provoke!
Zhang Bei spent the entire day having fun with his employees.
By the time the sky grew dark, he sent the hotel’s address to the staff group chat.
“Meet at the hotel. We’re having seafood later!”
“Woohoo!”
“Got it, boss!”
When a taxi pulled up in front of him, Zhang Bei climbed straight in.
Naturally, Li Yang followed his boss into the back seat.
The taxi drove on while Boss Zhang leaned back against his seat.
Future Amusement Park was some distance from the hotel, but it wasn’t particularly far. The drive should only take around twenty minutes.
With time to spare, Zhang Bei began considering the differences between the two Amusement Parks.
The whole point of visiting was to learn from the other’s strengths and make up for his own weaknesses.
Time passed minute by minute until Li Yang, seated beside him, tugged on Zhang Bei’s sleeve.
“Boss!”
Zhang Bei followed Li Yang’s gaze and saw the taxi meter climbing at a ridiculous speed.
A scam cab?
Zhang Bei realized what was happening almost instantly.
After pondering for a long moment, his gaze settled on the bag in his hand.
