Chapter 83
Chapter 83
Unfortunately, Ah Zi and the others clearly weren’t going to get to enjoy those drinks.
Every last one of them had been fed a Suxiao Jiuxin Wan by the doctor and loaded onto a gurney.
The streamer squad had been wiped out.
Zhang Bei stood off to the side and frowned.
Qingqing losing a few friends was a minor issue. The real problem was that the Morgue was obviously running out of beds.
When the thing had first been built, it had only been meant as a Pavilion to help fainted tourists wake up sooner.
But now, as more and more people came to the Amusement Park, the Morgue was gradually filling to capacity.
Usually, during the busiest hours in the afternoon, the entire Morgue would be packed full.
Zhang Bei pondered for a moment, then shifted his gaze to the Ferris Wheel not far away.
That was the next project to be implemented, and there was still an empty plot of land beside the Ferris Wheel.
After thinking it over, Zhang Bei turned and found Li Yang in the middle of his work.
“Call that hardware store from last time. I want to build another Pavilion.”
Li Yang glanced at the Morgue nearby and shuddered.
“Got it. I’ll contact them right now!”
With the Morgue problem settled, Zhang Bei sat off to the side and started tallying today’s visitor numbers.
This was only the third batch of tourists, yet it was already comparable to the usual peak traffic.
It was foreseeable that, starting today, the amusement park would remain completely packed for a very long time to come.
Of course, Zhang Bei had long since prepared for that situation.
The new Ferris Wheel project would be completed in ten days at the latest.
And every day after dinner, the employees would play a little game to relax.
Before anyone realized it, noon had arrived, and the hardware store delivered all the materials Zhang Bei needed.
Taking advantage of the lunch break, Zhang Bei and the employees began building the brand-new Morgue.
Many hands made light work. With the clear blueprint Zhang Bei provided, building the Morgue only took ten minutes.
It was a simple canopy supported by four pillars, and inside, wooden plank beds were lined up neatly in rows.
Looking at the finished Pavilion in front of him, Li Yang scratched his head.
“Why do I feel like something’s missing?”
Zhang Bei gave it a once-over. “No, this is good enough.”
This place was just a simple rest area. There was no need to make it particularly nice.
Li Yang stared at it for more than ten seconds, then turned around and came back carrying a wooden board.
He forcefully planted the board into the ground. “Now that’s much better!”
Everyone present looked at the wooden board. Several large words had been written on it in black marker.
[Morgue No. 2!]
Once Zhang Bei saw the words clearly, his face darkened. “Take it down!”
“Boss, it looks pretty good like this!”
Hearing that, Zhang Bei’s expression darkened even further. “Take it away, now. Otherwise, I’m making you lie in there for the entire day.”
Cold sweat instantly broke out on Li Yang’s forehead when he saw the unfriendly look in his boss’s eyes.
“I’ll take it away right now!”
After Li Yang carried the wooden board off, Zhang Bei finally nodded.
If they had a sign like that up, would the tourists still casually sit down on those beds?
Only when tourists had absolutely no mental preparation could they generate the most Emotional Value!
By the time afternoon arrived, the amusement park’s true test for the day came with it.
Even Zhang Bei, as the boss, had no choice but to follow the doctors around, helping push tourists everywhere.
The employees did not disappoint Zhang Bei either. Even with the Amusement Park packed to bursting, not a single problem occurred throughout the entire afternoon.
It was not until the Amusement Park closed that Zhang Bei finally took a sip of water.
“Everyone worked hard today. Let’s eat dinner early, then play a little game to relax.”
Li Yang rubbed his shoulders. “What kind of little game?”
Zhang Bei thought for a moment. “Something healing.”
Li Yang shot him a deeply suspicious look, but in the end, he still followed the smell of food toward the kitchen.
Forget the little games-right now, dinner was what mattered!
Chef Li knew everyone had worked hard today, so he laid out such a lavish spread that Li Yang polished off three bowls of rice in a row.
Once the staff had more or less digested their food, Zhang Bei took a slow sip of his drink and spoke up.
“All right, time for today’s healing little game!”
Zhang Bei pulled a deck of cards from a drawer beside him and set it on the table with one hand.
“Blackjack rules. Whoever has the lowest hand takes the punishment.”
Then Zhang Bei dragged out a specially modified chair from the side.
It was the kind of chair commonly used in schools, except a ruler had been fixed to one side, and a thick rubber band was tied around the middle.
“The wager is distance. The maximum is seventy centimeters. If you fold in the first round, you don’t get punished.”
Zhang Bei placed the deck on the table. “Who wants to play?”
Li Yang was the first to sit down, followed closely by You Bai.
In the end, five people gathered around the table before Zhang Bei began dealing.
Li Yang glanced at the cards in his hand.
“Raise. Ten centimeters!”
The intern beside him went dark in the face. “Fold!”
You Bai narrowed their eyes and looked at Li Yang. “I’ll call.”
After the first round, only the intern had backed out. Everyone else called.
By the second round, the wager had risen to thirty centimeters, and only You Bai and Li Yang remained.
Seeing that You Bai still refused to back down, Li Yang immediately grinned. “Showdown?”
You Bai nodded. “Show.”
The two of them flipped over their cards at the same time. Li Yang had two tens-exactly twenty.
But You Bai had a jack and a ten. Blackjack!
Li Yang’s face sank. “I object!”
Zhang Bei pressed down on Li Yang with one hand before he could take the chance to flee. “Sit down!”
Gu Yue had not joined the game. She grabbed the rubber band with one hand and pulled.
“Snap!”
The autumn sun was still fierce, so most of the staff were wearing short sleeves.
After that intimate encounter with the rubber band, Li Yang instantly clutched his waist and jumped up.
“Ow, ow, ow!”
Chef Li, standing to the side, swallowed.
According to the rules, they had all folded in the second round, which meant they also had to accept punishment.
Laughter once again rang through the entire restaurant.
After one round of punishment ended, Li Yang glared viciously at You Bai.
“Again!”
“Bring it!”
The second time, Li Yang drew eighteen and raised to forty centimeters, only to suffer a crushing defeat against You Bai’s twenty.
The third time, Li Yang drew nineteen and raised to fifty centimeters, only to be crushed again by You Bai’s Blackjack.
The fourth time, You Bai’s luck finally began to decline, and they only drew fifteen.
Li Yang clutched his lower back with one hand, his eyes fixed tightly on You Bai.
“I refuse to believe your luck can stay this good forever. Raise to seventy centimeters!”
You Bai frowned slightly and flipped over their cards with one hand.
This time, Li Yang did not even look at his own cards. It was the final round anyway. Either he would turn the tables and become the master, or he would explode on the spot.
Everyone’s eyes turned to the table. A nine and a six were clearly displayed before them.
Fifteen. A tie!
Just as everyone was still disappointed that they had not gotten to see the seventy-centimeter critical hit, Zhang Bei’s voice drifted over.
“You Bai is the dealer this round, you know.”
Blackjack had one rule: when the points were the same, the dealer won!
Hearing Zhang Bei, Li Yang’s eyes went wide.
“That makes no sense!”
Zhang Bei pressed down on the struggling Li Yang with one hand and nodded at Gu Yue, who was holding the rubber band.
