Chapter 196
Chapter 196
Cha Bing was buying this thing to keep his squad safe while carrying out missions.
Were these guys seriously thinking of using it as a standard weapon?
They’d bankrupt themselves!
“Holy shit!”
Just as Cha Bing was imagining how imposing he’d look with the Electromagnetic Cannon, one of his squad members cried out beside him.
“What’s wrong?”
“I-Isn’t this a little high?”
Cha Bing lowered his head and glanced down. His heart immediately clenched.
He wanted to take back every ounce of gratitude he’d felt!
This boss was even more ruthless than President Qiu!
The Roller Coaster was now a hundred meters in the air, swaying incessantly.
The terrifying sensation of having nothing beneath them was no less intense than watching an RPG fly straight at their faces.
Before they could mentally prepare themselves, the Roller Coaster charged down the track like a wild horse that had slipped its reins.
“Holy shit! No! Slow down!”
“Captain, are you after my inheritance?!”
“Captain, this is murder!”
Listening to his teammates scream around him, Cha Bing nearly burst into tears.
How is this my fault?
How the hell was I supposed to know this thing would be so terrifying?!
These burly men had endured battlefields filled with flying bullets and exploding shells.
Yet here on the Roller Coaster, they were scared into screaming at the tops of their lungs.
Before long, their screams stopped along with the Roller Coaster.
Cha Bing stared at the section of the Roller Coaster ahead of him, which was hanging from the track, and cold sweat poured from his body.
This thing couldn’t actually break, could it?
Surely not, right?
At the very least, nobody should be crazy enough to take revenge on society like this… right?
Several squad members had already begun praying to every god they could think of.
“Amen!”
“Amitabha!”
“Patriarch, protect us!”
The man seated behind them fell silent as he listened to the prayers coming from up ahead.
Were they sure those gods wouldn’t start fighting once they met?
The Kunpeng Squad’s prayers proved completely useless.
After a faint shudder, the front half of the Roller Coaster plunged straight toward the ground.
The half carrying Cha Bing remained suspended for one second before plummeting even faster.
I fear not being ground to dust, if only I can leave my purity in this world.
With trembling hands, Cha Bing unlocked his phone through its protective pouch and deleted his browser history.
However, the bone-shattering impact never came. A powerful suction force swept them onto another track.
After having his emotions put through the wringer, Cha Bing promptly passed out.
Meanwhile, Zhang Bei let out a long breath in the Monitoring Room.
Now that was satisfying!
Li Yang poked his head through the doorway. “Boss, are you in here?”
“Hmm?”
“Gu Yue’s birthday is coming up. I want to get her a present, but I have no idea what to buy.”
Zhang Bei rubbed his chin. “Are you two…?”
“No! I’m not! We’re just old classmates!”
Zhang Bei stared at Li Yang suspiciously. “I didn’t even say anything. Why are you getting so worked up?”
Li Yang’s face reddened. “Boss, advice! I need advice!”
“Get her something practical, preferably something that’ll leave a lasting impression. With what you’re making now, you can afford to spend a little more, right?”
His salary really was quite good. Between his base salary, commissions, and bonuses, he comfortably made five figures every month.
Li Yang lowered his head and pondered for a long moment. “I know what to get her now!”
“All right. Just don’t forget to make it a surprise!”
“Don’t worry, Boss!”
Watching Li Yang hurry away, Zhang Bei suddenly felt a flicker of doubt.
Had that kid really understood what he’d meant?
Half an hour later, Cha Bing slowly opened his eyes in the Morgue.
As he gazed at the clear blue sky, not a ripple disturbed his heart.
They said a man became a sage once it was all over.
Cha Bing was not doing much better.
In fact, his thinking had already reached a whole new level.
How delusional was I to think the boss was kindhearted?
What was the point of being alive?
What impact had the boss’s existence had on the development of human society?
“C-Captain, I want to go home!”
A voice on the verge of tears reached his ears.
Cha Bing fell silent for a moment. “I don’t think we can escape.”
As soon as he said that, Zhang Bei appeared in front of them.
“Now that you’ve rested, it’s time for the next attraction. This time, you get to choose.”
Cha Bing had already given up on life. “Can I choose not to play?”
“What do you think?”
Cha Bing was suddenly overwhelmed with regret.
Why did I provoke the boss for no reason?
Knowing President Qiu’s personality, there was no way my boss could be a decent person either!
“What are the choices?”
“The Underground Maze, Diving Paradise, or the Swimming Pool.”
Faced with three options, Cha Bing immediately fell into a dilemma.
He ruled out Diving Paradise first. Just from the name, he knew there was nothing fun about that place!
After thinking for a long time, Cha Bing finally made his decision.
“The Swimming Pool!”
The other team members stared at him resentfully.
He wasn’t even going to discuss it with them?
He was just deciding on his own?
“Boss, can we sit this one out?”
Where there was oppression, there would be resistance.
In the end, the team members refused to endure any more suffering.
Zhang Bei thought for a moment. “Sure, but then your Captain has to go through it five times.”
“We agree!”
They answered in perfect unison, without the slightest hesitation.
Cha Bing’s eyes widened as he stared at them.
“You guys!”
“Take care, Captain!”
“Rest in peace!”
“We’ll take care of your wife!”
“Uh… hope you survive?”
The majority ruled. Zhang Bei dragged the disbelieving Cha Bing toward the water park.
It did not take long to change, and even though Cha Bing managed to stall for three minutes, he still had to march toward the “execution ground.”
The Swimming Pool covered a sizable area and had everything from diving platforms to water channels.
Two lifeguards sat on tall chairs in the center, vigilantly watching for anyone in danger of drowning.
At the sight of Zhang Bei, Shi Ang jumped straight into the water.
“Boss!”
Zhang Bei nodded. “Open Passage 0. I’ll send him in.”
Shi Ang’s pupils contracted when he heard that.
“Is that really a good idea?”
“It’s fine. No one’s going to die.”
Shi Ang glanced at the silent Cha Bing and offered him a prayer in his heart.
Passage 0 was located at the very back of the Swimming Pool. It was a completely separate water channel.
It was normally covered to prevent visitors from accidentally falling in.
After all, even the two professional athletes working here did not dare enter it casually.
Cha Bing was still trying to mentally prepare himself when Zhang Bei gave him a one-handed shove, sending him straight into the water.
At that moment, the dangers hidden beneath the surface revealed themselves.
The instant Cha Bing surfaced, creature after creature appeared in his field of vision.
A gray crocodile, a saber-toothed shark racing through the water, and all manner of bizarre sea creatures.
“Fuck!”
That was all Cha Bing had time to shout before he frantically paddled with all four limbs, swimming as fast as he could into the distance.
Zhang Bei pulled over a chair and accepted the drink Shi Ang handed him.
Bliss.
“Woof!”
A bark came from behind him. Digua’s plump body hurtled toward Zhang Bei, trailing a spray of water droplets.
Zhang Bei glanced down at his clothes and immediately dodged aside without hesitation.
When it came to braking systems, dogs were nowhere near as responsive as cats.
