Chapter 62
Chapter 62
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, the amusement park saw off its last batch of tourists.
“Boss, it’s time to eat!”
Zhang Bei looked up and saw You Bai’s face, which was filled with hesitation.
“What’s wrong?”
“Boss, I want to train at the amusement park from now on.”
Zhang Bei raised an eyebrow. “You’re not going back to the national team?”
As a world champion, You Bai’s strength was definitely not to be underestimated. However, even the strongest person would regress if they didn’t train in a professional environment.
The Ski Resort Zhang Bei had built was indeed constructed according to competition standards, but at the end of the day, it was just an amusement attraction. It lacked truly professional equipment.
You Bai nodded. “My coach has already agreed. From now on, my training ground will be the amusement park.”
Zhang Bei sighed. “No regrets?”
“No regrets!”
You Bai had thought long and hard about whether to leave the amusement park. Ultimately, she still wanted to step onto the field and fight for another gold medal. But when she thought about those ski resorts that had once refused her training, and those teams that had kept their distance after her accident, she found it truly difficult to accept those people again.
In contrast, here at the amusement park, Zhang Bei had specially prepared a ski run for her to use for training. He even allowed any guests associated with her training to use it for free. He had even bought professional equipment for her. Even Chef Li prepared training meals for her every day.
Aside from the lack of other professional athletes, the environment the amusement park provided was already no less than that of a professional training ground.
Zhang Bei simply nodded. “If you want to stay, then stay. Just let me know if you need anything.”
You Bai immediately beamed. “Thank you, Boss!”
Three days passed in a flash. With the recommendation of the Cultural Tourism Bureau and the publication of the magazine, the amusement park unknowingly welcomed another surge in visitors.
A large number of tourists came drawn by its reputation, and after experiencing the rides once, they instantly turned into loyal fans.
The doctor and Professor Yao were also incredibly busy. The Roller Coaster was now running at almost full capacity, and the space in the Morgue was starting to feel insufficient. Many times, tourists who had fainted were simply propped up against the side.
Meanwhile, the blueprints Zhang Bei had been working on for three days finally took shape. He named this new attraction the Destiny Ejection Chair.
It would have a maximum capacity of five hundred tourists, with a total of one hundred tracks. Zhang Bei placed the blueprints on the table. “System, how much Emotional Value will it cost to build this facility?”
[Scanning… Scan complete.]
[Use of Future Mall items: 150,000 Emotional Value. Construction of a brand-new amusement facility: 120,000. Total: 270,000!]
Zhang Bei checked his popularity points; the accumulation over this period had reached nearly 200,000. Given the current popularity of the amusement park, providing 20,000 to 30,000 points a day wasn’t a problem. Once the Laboratory provided the supporting data, construction on the new facility could begin.
He stretched and put the blueprints into a drawer. With the drawings finished, Zhang Bei followed the flow of tourists and began wandering around the amusement park.
Along the way, many familiar faces greeted him.
“Hello, Boss!”
“Boss, when are you going to clear the Maze?”
“Boss, do you need someone to warm your bed?”
Amidst the flurry of greetings, Zhang Bei unknowingly quickened his pace.
*There are always treacherous subjects out to get me!*
Zhang Bei knew very well in his heart that although he had designed all these amusement facilities himself, he wasn’t confident he could clear them. Setting aside the terrifying dolls in the Underground Maze, even the Drop Tower required immense psychological fortitude.
Before he knew it, Zhang Bei had arrived at the Roller Coaster. The scene that had just unfolded before him made him stop in his tracks.
A group of people dressed in identical clothing were lining up in a serious, orderly fashion.
Observing their upright, soldierly posture, Zhang Bei frowned slightly.
“Excuse me, are you veterans?”
Among the group, only one man in his prime, who looked slightly older than the others, turned his head.
“Hello. We haven’t retired yet.”
Zhang Bei raised an eyebrow. “Soldiers don’t need to wait in line. You can go straight in!”
This rule had been established since the amusement park first opened: as long as they held valid identification, military personnel did not need to queue.
The man glanced at the people in line and stepped out of the queue.
“You’re the owner, right? We can talk.”
Zhang Bei nodded and led the man to a nearby bench.
The man sighed and spoke slowly. “I’m their psychiatrist, Chi Fu.”
“Zhang Bei, the owner of the amusement park.”
Chi Fu looked at the group in line, his face filled with worry.
“I wonder if Boss Zhang knows about submariners?”
Zhang Bei thought for a moment. This branch of service was indeed quite rare.
“I’ve heard of them, but I wouldn’t say I’m well-informed.”
Chi Fu pointed to the group nearby. “That’s what they are. Submariners are arguably the ones who face the most significant psychological challenges.”
Even though a submarine weighs thousands of tons, the internal living space is extremely cramped-often less than a third of the vessel’s volume.
Typically, a submarine needs to stay underwater for at least two months.
During this time, there is no contact with the outside world, and the crew is often confined to small rooms for long periods.
The deep sea is a world of total darkness; they can only rely on radar to observe their surroundings.
In such an environment, the role of a psychiatrist becomes paramount.
They have to try every possible method to guide these men and help them vent the pain and pressure that has been suppressed in their hearts for so long.
Just a short while ago, a young man who had just returned from leave actually received an ‘A’ rating on his psychological test-a score indicating perfect mental health.
For people in their line of work, such a result was simply incredible.
The investigation revealed that this breakthrough stemmed from a visit to Zhang Bei’s amusement park, which led to the scene that had just occurred.
These were all new recruits who had just joined the service; they were barely twenty years old.
It was precisely the age when psychological issues were most likely to arise.
Taking advantage of this leave, Chi Fu decided to bring them to the amusement park to experience it for themselves.
If it proved effective, the practice could be widely promoted; even if it didn’t, it would at least serve as a way for them to relax.
Looking at the group of stoic-faced young men, Zhang Bei couldn’t help but feel moved.
There is no such thing as a peaceful time; there are only people carrying the heavy burden for the rest of us.
Chi Fu then told Zhang Bei a story.
It concerned a submarine mission from not long ago.
Due to the special nature of the task, the crew had to stay underwater for a full four months.
The mission was completed successfully, and the submarine returned to shore safely.
However, on the second day of leave, the Captain of the operation was found to have committed suicide at home.
Zhang Bei let out a long sigh. “I understand. There will be a new project in a few days; you can bring them back to try it then.”
Chi Fu nodded. “Alright!”
Zhang Bei watched as the group boarded the Roller Coaster, then made his way over to the control room of the Drop Tower.
“Boss, what brings you here?”
Li Yang was surprised to see Zhang Bei.
Zhang Bei hadn’t shown his face for several days; it was a rare sight to see him.
Zhang Bei sat in a nearby chair and tapped on the desk.
“Starting tomorrow, we’re running a long-term promotion. All military personnel will have a dedicated priority lane, and ticket prices will be half off.”
