Chapter 81
Chapter 81
“Where’s the boss? I need to thank him properly!”
The doctor glanced at his boss out of the corner of his eye.
“Murder is illegal!”
“I’m not going to kill anyone!”
“Assault isn’t okay either!”
The doctor might have been willing to roast him, but at the end of the day, he was still his boss.
Xu Kuan tried twice to stand on his trembling legs. Both attempts ended in failure.
Seeing this, Zhang Bei finally relaxed and walked over from the side.
“I’m the boss. What is it?”
When Xu Kuan saw Zhang Bei, he gave up on the idea of standing and remained half-kneeling where he was.
“I just wanted to thank you. I haven’t felt this relaxed in a long time.”
Zhang Bei quietly breathed a sigh of relief, his expression calm. “No problem. You’re all guests here.”
Xu Kuan’s legs were weak and his face was deathly pale, but after going through all that, the pressure that had been weighing on him lately had vanished in an instant.
Forget returning to the operating table-right now, he felt like he could go toe-to-toe with King Yan himself.
After drinking the beverages Li Yang brought over, the group of doctors gradually recovered their strength.
Zhang Bei checked the time. There was still half an hour before the Amusement Park closed.
“Let’s ride the Drop Tower. There aren’t many people over there right now.”
Xu Kuan looked at the group of tourists the doctor had just sent into the Morgue, his expression stiff.
“Maybe let’s not?”
“This one’s on me. It won’t cost you anything!”
Before they could react, the staff had already pressed them into the seats.
With practiced ease, they fastened the seat belts and clipped on the safety ropes.
Amid the pounding music, the Drop Tower slid upward.
Xu Kuan glanced at the height and felt a little more at ease. It was only thirty meters. If he gritted his teeth, it would be over soon.
From the outside, this Drop Tower looked more or less the same as the ones anywhere else.
Surely nothing could go wrong this time, right?
Xu Kuan waited for a full three minutes, but the entire Drop Tower showed no change at all.
He gradually relaxed as well, carefully savoring this hard-won tranquility.
Before he knew it, five minutes had passed.
A mechanical whirring came from the Drop Tower.
Sitting in the chair, Xu Kuan had no idea what was happening.
All he could see was the ground growing farther and farther away.
The height finally stopped at sixty meters. Xu Kuan’s hands, which had been gripping the safety rope tightly, loosened a little without him realizing it.
After experiencing being a hundred meters up in the air, he was still confident he could endure sixty meters.
Listening to the screams constantly ringing beside his ears, Xu Kuan’s expression turned solemn.
Even though he hadn’t been in the Amusement Park for long, and even though he’d only gone on one attraction so far, he, Xu Kuan, could guarantee one thing: a person like the boss would never let the guests get down in peace!
At the seven-minute mark, Xu Kuan, pale-faced, finally welcomed the Drop Tower’s last change.
The gears clattered, and the ground grew farther and farther away.
Feeling the height stop, Xu Kuan finally let out a breath of relief.
Fortunately, sitting up here at this height still wasn’t enough to scare him out of his wits.
He was just about to lean his body back against the chair when he realized there was nothing behind him.
Before he could turn his head, the seat beneath his rear slowly retracted as well.
“Holy crap! No! Come back, hurry!”
Along with Xu Kuan’s shout, the rope wrapped around his waist snapped taut in an instant.
The ground, which had seemed rather far away, suddenly magnified in his vision.
Xu Kuan felt as if his heart went on strike for one full second. Then, with the pull of the safety rope behind him, it started beating again.
All color drained from his face. His entire body went rigid as the safety rope bounced him up and down.
Yo-yos had a broad audience and had held a place among teenagers for years.
The Human Yo-Yo, meanwhile, was loved by countless tourists.
The ten-minute trial run ended quickly, and several staff members hurried over to undo the safety belts.
Xu Kuan sat slumped on the ground, his face deathly pale. He only managed not to collapse completely by leaning against the railing.
He glanced at the colleague being wheeled away on a cart beside him and silently offered his blessings.
Professor Yao and Zhang Bei also walked over to Xu Kuan.
“How do you feel?”
Xu Kuan forced out an ugly smile. “I-I’m fine.”
As he spoke, his eyes remained fixed on Zhang Bei.
As the saying went, you couldn’t hide the look in your eyes when you wanted to stab someone.
When he had first gotten off the Giant Swing, Xu Kuan had still felt grateful.
But now, Xu Kuan had already begun recalling every homicide case he had seen over the years.
Zhang Bei immediately caught a whiff of danger. “Ahem. I’m going to help the doctors escort the visitors out. You two talk!”
Watching Zhang Bei hurry away, the dangerous look in Xu Kuan’s eyes finally vanished.
“None of you ever thought to have the boss undergo a psychological evaluation?”
He, Xu Kuan, surgeon, was now the second person after Wang Qingshan to suspect Zhang Bei of being antisocial!
Professor Yao laughed instead. “Wasn’t this thing designed to let people vent their stress?”
Xu Kuan silently sighed, then leaned against the railing and began chatting with Professor Yao.
Before anyone realized it, closing time had arrived.
Li Yang saw off the doctors who had come from afar in Zhang Bei’s place, then hurried over to the restaurant.
Ordinary viewers would have to wait until eight that evening to watch Running, but Zhang Bei had already gotten the finished cut from the Director in advance. He was just waiting for Li Yang to arrive so everyone could watch it together.
All kinds of snacks and fruit had already been laid out in the restaurant, and a projector was mounted overhead.
Li Yang plopped down in a chair. “Hurry, hurry, hurry!”
Zhang Bei smiled, drew the curtains, and turned on the projector.
The version Zhang Bei had received didn’t have any of those messy ads. It was the earliest, clean-cut version.
So from the very beginning, they saw the scene of the participants receiving their mission.
Without the ads, the entire episode was only an hour and a half long.
But the show was truly packed with laughs. The sound of the employees laughing in the restaurant never stopped.
It continued all the way until the final image showing the Amusement Park’s address appeared and the program ended.
“All right, everyone get a good rest tonight. Starting tomorrow, we’ve got a tough battle ahead of us.”
The show’s broadcast would definitely bring in a massive surge of popularity in the short term.
As for the rest, it would depend on whether the employees could maintain the Amusement Park’s reputation.
Li Yang patted his chest. “Don’t worry, boss. Leave it to us!”
Zhang Bei nodded as well. “There’ll be big year-end bonuses for everyone!”
“Thank you, boss!”
Time soon reached the next morning. All the employees, including the kitchen staff, arrived at the Amusement Park bright and early.
Li Yang distributed copies of the Safety Commitment Form to the different attractions.
You Bai led the Coaching Team in inspecting the equipment, while Gu Yue and the other girls carefully wiped down the seats.
At eight in the morning, the Amusement Park welcomed its first batch of visitors.
“So this is the Amusement Park from the show?”
“That must be the Giant Swing that can transform, right?”
“The Roller Coaster is over there! I want to ride that!”
In the blink of an eye, the visitors scattered across the amusement park. Zhang Bei sat in the Monitoring Room, overseeing the overall situation.
However, one figure had quietly slipped in among the crowd.
Qingqing held up her phone and lowered her voice. “I’m telling you guys, this spot is the absolute best seat in the house for watching the Drop Tower!”
The Amusement Park didn’t have any rule saying you had to go on the rides. Standing nearby and watching other people ride was also a kind of enjoyment.
“What are you doing?”
