Chapter 219
Chapter 219
The car drove all the way to the Amusement Park and stopped out front.
The secretary dragged Meng Chuan over to Zhang Bei at top speed.
“Boss!”
“Why aren’t you working? What are you doing here?”
The excitement instantly drained from the secretary’s face.
Capitalists were all blackhearted!
“Boss, you know I’ve got more than a dozen companies under me now. I really don’t have time to handle your factory and website too.”
“So?”
“So I found you a secretary. Whatever you need, just tell him!”
Zhang Bei turned his gaze to Meng Chuan.
“How much does he know?”
The secretary scratched his head. “He doesn’t know anything about President Qiu’s side. Other than that, he’s fully briefed.”
It was obvious that Zhang Bei had been asking about Demon Court. After all, it was a war-torn place, and only a handful of people currently knew what was happening over there.
“Leave him here. You can go.”
The secretary nodded quickly and handed Zhang Bei a file.
Then he sprinted for the exit.
If he stayed even a moment longer, Zhang Bei might make him experience the Amusement Park firsthand.
Zhang Bei flipped through the file. It contained a detailed account of Meng Chuan’s background, along with information about selecting a site for the factory.
“You graduated from the Guanghua School of Management?”
“Yes!”
Meng Chuan discreetly studied the Big Boss out of the corner of his eye.
He looked pretty easygoing.
Why was the secretary so afraid of him?
“I need to set up a factory and a website. Everything you need is in this file. How long will it take?”
Meng Chuan accepted the file. “With sufficient funding, I can have both up and running within ten days.”
Zhang Bei nodded and muttered under his breath.
“A factory and a website…”
“Don’t worry, Boss. This much work won’t be a problem for me!”
He had been idle for far too long. Most days, the biggest task he had at the company was delivering documents.
Now that he finally had a chance to manage something independently, he naturally had to seize it.
“No. I was thinking that isn’t enough.”
Zhang Bei opened the notes on his phone and showed them to Meng Chuan one by one.
“I also own the Island overseas. It’s a small one, and construction is almost complete. I need you to go inspect the Laboratory and sign off on it.”
After a brief pause, Zhang Bei’s tone became downright leisurely.
“Young man, I need you to buy the image rights for Jurassic and Baymax, and figure out how to avoid infringing any robotics patents.”
“I also want you to collect fossils of extinct animals-actual specimens, if possible. Oh, right. There’s a satellite launch base on the Island. You’ll need to inspect and sign off on that too.”
In the span of a single minute, Meng Chuan gained a profound understanding of just how blackhearted a capitalist could be.
But this was Zhang Bei!
“There should still be a billion or so in my bank account. Invest it however you see fit. I have no use for the money.”
Meng Chuan stared at his boss’s youthful face and fell silent for a long time.
Before coming here, he had thought he might spend the rest of his life as nothing more than a secretary.
Now that he was here, he had only one plea: Please, I’m begging you. Just let me be a secretary!
What in the world was this job description?
He had to manage a factory, negotiate image rights, avoid patent infringement, collect fossils, and make financial investments.
Oh, right. There was also a base waiting for him to inspect.
I’m a top graduate, not God!
Did the boss seriously think he knew how to inspect a satellite base?
The thought alone made his head spin.
What kind of secretary did any of this?
The secretary: “Me. And that’s not even all. I also oversee the practical application of scientific breakthroughs and occasionally help manage a military factory. Exciting, right?”
That day, Meng Chuan and the secretary officially became brothers in suffering-even though Meng Chuan was now a secretary himself.
Meanwhile, far away in the city center, Qi Qi was out shopping with her best friend Qingqing.
Suddenly, he felt something stir in his heart and glanced into the distance.
“How about we visit the amusement park tomorrow?”
Qingqing thought about it. She had already skipped her livestream for several days. If she kept this up, her viewers would probably revolt.
“Sure. I’ll do a livestream tomorrow.”
Meng Chuan pondered for a long while before looking up at Zhang Bei. “I can’t handle all of this by myself.”
“Figure something out. Use the money in my bank account however you like. I only care about the results.”
“All right!”
That sheer extravagance filled Meng Chuan with soaring ambition.
Good fortune lifts the spirit; only great sorrow and great joy can bring true enlightenment. (Shuxun Ren)
As Zhang Bei stared at Meng Chuan, a very serious question occurred to him.
Now that Meng Chuan was his secretary, that made him an employee too, right?
“Gu Yue, come here for a moment.”
Zhang Bei pressed the intercom button, his face wreathed in smiles.
“If you can’t handle everything yourself, go to President Qiu’s secretary and ask for some staff. If he has any objections, tell him to come to me.”
“Yes!”
Meng Chuan suddenly felt as if he had been handed an imperial sword granting him absolute authority.
With the Big Boss’s personal approval, it would be much easier to get things done!
As he thought of his former colleagues, a list gradually took shape in his mind.
From this alone, it was clear that poaching talent was practically a time-honored tradition around here!
Gu Yue soon appeared before Zhang Bei.
“Boss, what is it?”
“This is my secretary. Take him to experience our tradition.”
Gu Yue gave Meng Chuan a sympathetic look.
It just had to be you!
No human being could do something like this. At least, no normal human being could!
Meng Chuan remained utterly oblivious to his boss’s charitable intentions. As he planned how to approach his old colleagues, he followed Gu Yue step by step into an unknown abyss.
It wasn’t until Gu Yue strapped him into the Destiny Ejection Chair that he finally snapped back to his senses.
“Huh?”
A “kind” smile spread across Gu Yue’s face.
“Have fun. You don’t get opportunities like this very often!”
Meng Chuan nodded. “Thank you!”
The Destiny Ejection Chair soon filled up.
Meng Chuan heard a low rumble, and his vision instantly blurred.
A fierce gale slammed straight into his face.
High-speed ascent!
Meng Chuan struggled to force his eyes open against the wind.
A broken section of track appeared ahead of him.
Then the seat beneath him accelerated again, hurtling him straight into the sky.
Only then did he finally understand the meaning behind Gu Yue’s earlier look.
His boss really had a great personality. Great, my a**!
On his first try, Meng Chuan lasted only three minutes on the Ejection Chair before giving out.
It might not have been long, but it was his first time, after all! (Snicker.)
Sitting in his chair, Zhang Bei watched Professor Yao wheel away a cartload of visitors.
By this point in its development, the Amusement Park had practically everything it needed.
Their next priority would be space travel.
From now on, whenever Zhang Bei came up with an idea for the Amusement Park, he could simply add a new attraction.
He had originally planned to wait a little longer, but now that he had been assigned a secretary, he could start preparing certain things ahead of schedule.
After all, just thinking about sending visitors into space was exciting.
Survival on the Moon, but for real?
Why not?
The visitors still screaming their heads off had no idea how much effort Boss Zhang was putting in for their sake.
Meng Chuan lay in the Morgue and slowly opened his eyes.
