Chapter 206
Chapter 206
The third floor housed the patient wards, with countless tightly shut doors lining a single corridor.
Qingqing led her team straight to Room 302.
The glass panel in the door was coated in dust and smeared with dark brown stains.
Taking a deep breath, Qingqing slowly pushed the door open.
There were only two hospital beds inside, both covered in caked blood.
A bloodstained white coat had been tossed onto the floor.
The people behind her silently took two steps back.
Qingqing’s expression darkened.
So now you suddenly know how to work together!
She didn’t waste any time, however, and quickly rushed over to the beds.
One was labeled No. 66. Diagnosis: split personality.
The other was labeled No. 67. Diagnosis: auditory hallucinations.
The moment Qingqing saw the numbers, she spun around.
As luck would have it, No. 66 was on her team.
Before she could say anything, the room’s lights abruptly went out.
“Time for bed!”
The voice was hoarse, as though its vocal cords had been ripped apart. Qingqing immediately leaped onto No. 67’s bed and lay perfectly still.
Everyone participating in this trial run was a veteran visitor. They all knew what to do in a situation like this.
One figure threw themselves onto No. 66’s bed as fast as possible.
The remaining three each found somewhere to hide.
Footsteps drew closer and closer before finally stopping at the doorway.
“Naughty children must be punished!”
By the light spilling in from the corridor, Qingqing could make out nothing but a pair of mangled, bloody hands reaching toward the doorway.
A miserable scream rang out.
A suffocating tension spread through Room 302.
Qingqing could clearly feel someone trembling beneath her bed.
The screaming stopped, and the figure at the doorway turned and walked away.
The lights came back on. Qingqing let out a long breath and wiped the cold sweat from her forehead.
No. 66 crawled out from under the bed, shivering.
“Let’s go back downstairs. This place is way too terrifying!”
Faced with everyone’s pleading gazes, Qingqing declared, “Back to the second floor!”
Even she couldn’t take much more of this hellhole. A single wrong move could get them eliminated on the spot.
When they returned to the second floor, the sight before her made Qingqing’s head spin.
I was only gone for a few minutes.
What happened here?
The corridor looked as though it had been the site of a horrifically brutal battle.
Countless severed limbs lay scattered across the floor, still bleeding, while Flesh Mountain wandered through the corridor carrying its syringe.
“Don’t dirty the floor! Don’t dirty it!”
The voice squeezing out from between its folds of fat made Qingqing nauseous.
After making a circuit of the corridor, Flesh Mountain vanished into the shadows. The severed limbs on the floor disappeared along with it.
Doors opened one after another, revealing survivors filled with relief and joy.
Qingqing’s expression only grew uglier.
She had been gone for just a few minutes, yet of the forty-odd people who had come upstairs, only thirty remained.
A full ten people had been eliminated!
The second round of voting began immediately afterward. Qingqing stuck firmly to her reasoning and entered No. 11.
Meanwhile, inside a dim room on the fifth floor of the Psychiatric Hospital…
The doctor stared at the computer, his face deathly pale.
He was the only person among all the players who could verify identities.
All he had to do was enter a player’s number into the computer, and it would display a result every two minutes.
One wall of the room showed surveillance footage from throughout the entire hospital.
Using the clues provided by the others, the doctor had already identified three players with the Mole role.
As he watched the surveillance feeds, the display on the wall suddenly blurred, and a wash of blood-red spread across it.
“Not again!”
The doctor hurriedly crawled under the desk, suppressing even the sound of his breathing.
At last, the bloodstain on the wall took the shape of a woman in a dress.
Her face was deathly pale, and only the whites of her eyes were visible.
The click of high heels sounded against the floor.
The doctor curled into himself, praying over and over that she wouldn’t find him.
The footsteps circled the room twice before slowly fading away.
The doctor let out a long breath and sat back down in the chair.
Staring at the door not far away, he nearly burst into tears.
This godforsaken place could only be opened with a key, and the key was obviously outside.
I’m the only Seer here! Won’t someone come save me?!
Meanwhile, on the second floor, Qingqing was also on the verge of tears as she watched their numbers steadily dwindle.
It’s only been ten minutes! I’m begging you-stop dying!
Keep courting death like this, and we won’t even survive until the next vote!
These people were all veteran players, yet they were somehow even better at getting themselves killed than rookies.
That wooden barrel in the room was obviously suspicious just from the hair sticking out of it, wasn’t it?
And yet two idiots had still pried it open to take a look.
Unsurprisingly, the entire room had been wiped out.
If Qingqing hadn’t reacted quickly and slammed the door shut, hardly anyone on the second floor would have survived.
The first floor had already been fully explored, and its few remaining survivors had joined Qingqing’s group.
The situation looked grim for the good guys.
Only a little over sixty people remained, while all five Moles were still alive.
That might sound like a lot of people, but they had only explored the first and second floors.
There were still three whole floors left!
They hadn’t found many clues, either.
At best, they had narrowed down the possible numbers of three Moles.
After the two groups exchanged clues, Qingqing spoke with a grave expression.
“Let’s vote out No. 67 first. No. 66, you can check the last room on the second floor, right?”
No. 3 nodded. “No problem!”
No. 66’s face instantly went pale. “Wait, no. Do I have to go?”
“Yes!”
The time to vote soon arrived. No. 67 was still discussing who the Moles might be with someone beside him when a beam of red light suddenly fell over him. In his vision, a hideous ghost lunged straight at him.
Another bloodcurdling scream rang through the building.
No. 66 swallowed nervously, his legs trembling as he stared at the tightly shut door.
No. 3 patted him on the shoulder. “Go on. This is also your chance to clear yourself of suspicion.”
No. 66 gritted his teeth and pushed open the door to the room glowing with red light.
It looked more like a storeroom, with moldy medical supplies piled everywhere.
No. 66’s gaze locked almost instantly on the operating table at the center of the room.
“Bang!”
The door swung shut on its own, and a glaring lamp instantly lit the room.
A figure in a white coat appeared beside the table, gripping a scalpel.
Two nurses materialized behind No. 66.
Each seized one of his arms and forced him down onto the table.
As he stared at the scalpel gleaming coldly above him, No. 66’s voice trembled.
“Aren’t… aren’t you going to give me anesthesia?”
Unfortunately, no one answered his question.
The icy scalpel pierced his skin, but No. 66 lay perfectly still on the operating table.
At a time like this, it was better to behave and wait for the scripted event to end. Resisting would probably lead to a gruesome death.
Besides, it only felt like a needle prick. It didn’t hurt that much.
The operation was a success. No. 66 breathed a sigh of relief as the figure in the white coat vanished before his eyes.
A line of stitches was clearly visible across his abdomen.
The blood on the floor pooled together, forming a number.
