Chapter 51

Zhang Bei was just about to settle back into his life as a lazy salted fish when a voice suddenly reached his ears.

“Excuse me, are you the owner here?”

Zhang Bei turned his head to see two men holding folders standing before him.

“That’s me. Is something the matter?”

One of the men handed his ID to Zhang Bei. “We received a report that you are selling non-compliant food here. We need to conduct an investigation.”

The other man also presented his credentials. “I received a report that the fire safety here is not up to standard. We need to perform an inspection.”

As the owner, Zhang Bei naturally knew what it meant for these two to show up together.

A suspension of operations for rectification!

It was no small matter to have both departments mobilized at once.

Either there were an overwhelming number of reports, or someone was intentionally making trouble.

From the current situation, it was clearly the latter.

Zhang Bei simply nodded and stepped aside.

“Sorry for the trouble, gentlemen.”

The two men exchanged a glance and began their inspection of the entire Amusement Park.

To the side, Qingqing bit her lip. She adjusted the camera mounted on her chest and followed behind them.

“This area is non-compliant. There are too few fire extinguishers!”

“This area is also non-compliant. The fire hydrant is too far away!”

After a full round of inspection, Zhang Bei was served with the official documents for a suspension of operations.

Qingqing held her phone and lowered her voice.

“Hey, hey, hey… I saw six fire extinguishers at just one attraction. How is that not enough?”

Zhang Bei didn’t say much. He simply saw the last of the tourists out of the Amusement Park and closed the main gates.

Professor Yao followed behind him, his gaze cold. “These vermin… Boss, please leave this matter to me!”

Zhang Bei shook his head. “I’ll handle it myself. It’s not that much of a hassle.”

After locking the gates of the Amusement Park, Zhang Bei drove to a university in Dingyang City.

Looking at the apartment building in front of him, Zhang Bei lightly pressed the doorbell.

“Come in!”

Hearing that slightly aged voice, Zhang Bei took a deep breath.

He gently pushed the door open to find an elderly man wearing glasses hunched over a desk.

“Which class are you from?”

The old man was very confident in his memory and was certain he had never seen this student before.

“I’m not a student. I’ve come this time because I have something I’d like the professor to take a look at.”

Indeed, the person Zhang Bei was visiting was a professor teaching at the school.

Li Zhinan. Most people might not be familiar with the name itself, but almost everyone knew of his achievements.

The founder of Huaxia’s tramway systems, a three-time winner of international physics awards, and a world-class scientist in the field of electromagnetics.

These were all titles held by this old man.

Li Zhinan’s eyes twinkled with a hint of a smile. He had taught at the school for many years, yet it was rare for someone to come to his door seeking help like this.

“Well, bring it out then.”

Zhang Bei pulled a stack of A4 papers from his backpack and placed them on the desk, shrinking his neck back slightly.

The papers contained nothing other than the Electromagnetic Black Technology provided to him by the System.

Having lived in Dingyang City for so many years, Zhang Bei naturally knew of the old man’s existence.

Though they had no prior social connection, Zhang Bei believed that as long as this material could be submitted through the old man’s hands, no one would be able to obstruct the development of the amusement park ever again.

Li Zhinan looked down at the white paper and began flipping through the pages one by one.

“Nonsense! Can the Second Law of electromagnetics be dismissed so casually?”

Zhang Bei gave a bitter smile. “Please, look a bit further. It really isn’t nonsense.”

Li Zhinan glared at Zhang Bei. The Second Law was a result that countless scientists had arrived at after tens of thousands of experiments.
How could it be dismissed so easily?

However, years of scientific research had ingrained a habit in Li Zhinan. No matter how outrageous Zhang Bei’s data seemed, he would finish reading it before passing judgment.

As he flipped through the pages, Li Zhinan’s expression instantly became solemn. He grabbed the computer beside him and began verifying the calculations.

Zhang Bei stood to the side and waited for a full three hours before Li Zhinan finally looked up.

“It’s wrong… the Second Law is actually wrong!”

Zhang Bei slightly shifted his legs, which had gone numb from standing.

“Professor Li?”

Only then did Li Zhinan hear the voice and look at Zhang Bei. “Do you know what this means?”

Zhang Bei nodded. Huaxia already had results regarding electromagnetic cannons, but those things occupied a massive area; every transport required specialized trucks.

But Zhang Bei’s work would undoubtedly miniaturize the electromagnetic cannon. With just a few more sets of supporting data, man-portable weaponry would be just around the corner.

Li Zhinan cast a lingering, reluctant glance at the A4 paper on the desk.

“If I’m not mistaken, the most important power output formula is missing from this, right?”

Zhang Bei’s face flushed. “Professor Li has a sharp eye!”

Li Zhinan waved his hand. “I see that the experimental basis you mentioned here is a Roller Coaster. Where exactly is it?”

“At my amusement park. I researched this specifically for the amusement park.”

Li Zhinan’s mouth twitched. In all his years in his position, this was the first time he felt truly speechless. He had spent half his life researching and still hadn’t been able to miniaturize electromagnetic equipment, yet this kid had managed to research it just for a Roller Coaster?

“Take me there to see it!”

Zhang Bei’s expression turned serious. “Not right now!”

“Hmm?”

“The amusement park was just shut down by the fire department today for rectification. There are also issues with food safety, and we’re waiting for the test results.”

Li Zhinan, who had just stood up, sat back down. An old man like him was as shrewd as a fox; combining the data Zhang Bei had brought with the current situation, he already understood Zhang Bei’s intent.

“I see. Just open for business as usual tomorrow. I’ll head over around ten in the morning.”

“Thank you, Professor Li!”

Li Zhinan waved him off. “Get lost. Using this stuff to whet my appetite…”

With a smile on his face, Zhang Bei said, “Then I’ll have to trouble you, Professor Li!”

Watching Zhang Bei leave, Li Zhinan turned back to the documents.

“You don’t need to be so nervous. This is domestic soil!”

As his voice fell, two figures slowly emerged from the stairwell.

As a professor’s residence, this place was actually under extremely tight security. From the moment Zhang Bei stepped into the room, a device had blocked his cell phone signal and checked his entire body for dangerous weapons.

“Professor, your safety is paramount!”

Li Zhinan turned his head. “If you’re going to put it that way, wouldn’t it be easier for someone to make a move while I’m teaching?”

“Those students have all been vetted!”

“Forget it. You heard what was just said. Go contact Professor Mo. Come with me to the amusement park tomorrow.”

“Yes, sir!”

Zhang Bei drove back to the amusement park. As soon as he stepped through the main gate, a crowd of employees surrounded him.

“Boss, are you okay?”

“Boss, is someone pulling strings behind our backs?”

“Boss, are we about to lose our jobs?”

That last sentence came from Li Lei. The evaluation of her having zero emotional intelligence surfaced in Zhang Bei’s mind once again.

“It’s fine. We’ll be open for business as usual tomorrow!”

“That’s great!”

“The boss is amazing!”

Looking at the group of employees around him, Zhang Bei’s gaze landed on Chef Li.

“Barbecue for dinner?”
