Chapter 87
Chapter 87
“Son, you made it?”
“Screw you. What’s so great that you had to drag me and Ah Bao over here in such a hurry?”
The man glanced at his girlfriend beside him and gave a mysterious smile.
“This Ferris Wheel.”
“Is it fun?”
“Why don’t you try it and find out?”
“Fine. We’ll go line up!”
Watching the two of them leave, the man finally burst out laughing.
“Is it really okay for you to trick Tan Xing like that?”
“It’s fine, it’s fine. I can’t be the only one who suffers through this.”
Meanwhile, Tan Xing, who was waiting in line, had no idea how sinister his roommate’s intentions were.
“Ah Bao, I see popcorn over there. Want some?”
“Let’s not. We can eat after we get down!”
Tan Xing nodded and, holding his girlfriend’s hand, followed the line all the way into the glass cabin.
Seeing the staff fasten the seat belts for them, he looked rather satisfied.
“Looks like they really care about safety!”
“They do!”
His girlfriend nodded with deep feeling. The two of them had been together since they entered college as freshmen, and now it had been a full three years.
Over all these years, they had gone to the amusement park plenty of times, but this was the first time they had ever seen so many seat belts strapped around them.
The employee simply smiled. “Safer is better!”
Soon, pair after pair-some couples who had been tricked into coming, some girls who had come out of curiosity-were all securely buckled in.
As soothing music began to play, the glass cabins slowly started to move.
Tan Xing was just about to speak when his girlfriend’s voice suddenly rang out.
“If we approximate the Ferris Wheel as a circle, calculate our current linear velocity for me.”
Tan Xing practically slumped in his seat. “Ah Bao, we finally came out to have some fun. Can we not-”
“No. We’re both taking the postgraduate entrance exam. Hurry up and calculate it.”
Tan Xing opened his mouth, but in the end, no words came out.
His girlfriend had ranked first in the mathematics department for three years straight, which meant he had no choice but to keep up with her.
He was long used to things like this.
Before he knew it, five minutes had passed. Tan Xing slapped his thigh.
“I calculated that, that, that…”
The reason his voice started stuttering had nothing to do with anything else. In his field of vision, the ground was constantly shrinking and tilting, while the glass cabin door slowly opened.
“Ah Bao, wh-what’s happening?”
“Barring any surprises, I’d say there’s been a surprise.”
As soon as his girlfriend said that in a calm voice, the chairs instantly carried the two of them out of the glass cabin.
“Holy shit! Xu Sangou, when I get down, I’m gonna kill your ass!”
His high-pitched shout instantly drowned out the music and spread across the entire Ferris Wheel.
Standing below with his head tilted up, the man shrank back a little. “Baobao, let’s go skiing.”
The girl rolled her eyes at him. “Let’s go. Wouldn’t want to get splattered with blood later.”
Up on the Ferris Wheel, the chairs were carrying the couples around in a frenzy.
With its irregular movement, you could never know which direction your next shift would be.
Tan Xing’s forehead was covered in cold sweat. “Ah Bao, are you… are you okay?”
However, as a top student, his girlfriend was doing much better.
“I’m… I’m fine. At this speed, we won’t fall.”
Soon, the irregular motion ended, and the chair brought the two of them back into the glass cabin.
Tan Xing rubbed his slightly weak legs. “Xu Sangou, you damn well better wait for me!”
But the voice squeezed out through gritted teeth did not affect his girlfriend at all.
“When we get down, calculate the directions of the forces involved in that irregular motion and give me an exact value.”
Tan Xing stared ahead with a pair of dead-fish eyes and nodded. “Got it!”
In both of their minds, the Ferris Wheel should have been over by this point.
But in the next instant, the chair beneath them surged upward with a burst of force. Before either of them could react, they were launched into the sky.
“B-B-Baobao, wh-wh-what’s happening?”
But by then, Tan Xing’s girlfriend beside him was in no state to answer.
The massive wind resistance, the high-speed circular motion, and the fact that her boyfriend had already curled himself into a ball…
Pressure, terror, and rage all flooded her brain at once.
After just one full loop, she passed out on the spot.
Meanwhile, Tan Xing, eyes squeezed shut and body curled up tight, had no idea that his top-student girlfriend had already begun fluttering helplessly in the wind.
The Death Loop was actually only two minutes long. It was just that under that kind of centrifugal force, time felt especially drawn out.
The moment Tan Xing returned to the glass pod, the entire world fell silent.
All the noise and chaos outside had nothing to do with him. Only one sentence remained in his mind.
I’m done. I’m dead!
His girlfriend was now slumped limply against the glass, and her tightly shut eyes proved one thing:
This day next year would be the anniversary of his death.
After seriously considering both striking first and killing her to silence her, he ultimately surrendered to his conscience and, with trembling hands, pulled his girlfriend into his arms.
It was soon Tan Xing’s turn to be examined by the doctor.
“He’s fine. He just needs to rest for a while.”
This time, the doctor did not even feed him any Suxiao Jiuxin Wan, so it was safe to say the problem was not serious.
After the doctor settled him in the Morgue, Tan Xing clenched his jaw and stared at his girlfriend.
He took a deep breath, then punched himself hard in the chin.
“Ow, ow, ow!”
That wasn’t right. Didn’t people say hitting someone there could knock them out?
Why am I still so awake?
Holy crap, what am I supposed to do now?
Tan Xing had completely forgotten that, in his current state, he could barely even stand up. How could he possibly knock himself unconscious?
Meanwhile, in a corner of the Amusement Park, Zhang Bei sat on a chair, staring at the little boy in front of him.
“Minors can’t ride it!”
“This is discrimination! If I don’t get to ride the Ferris Wheel even once, I feel like my childhood will be incomplete!”
Zhang Bei patted his forehead. Looking at the child in front of him, he felt a headache coming on.
“I said you can’t ride it, so you can’t ride it!”
The adult and the child stared at each other for a full minute before Zhang Bei finally gave in.
“In a few days, I’ll design an attraction that you kids can ride.”
“Thank you, Boss!”
Seeing the little boy’s expression change in an instant, Zhang Bei’s face darkened another shade.
There was no doubt about it. He had absolutely been played again.
The moment he thought of being played, he thought of Li Yang, and silently added two more attractions to the list in his heart.
“Now hurry up and get lost!”
“Goodbye, Boss!”
Watching the little boy leave, Zhang Bei also began thinking about another major customer base of the Amusement Park: children.
After pondering for a long time, Zhang Bei still could not come up with any good solution.
After all, if an attraction put children as its main target audience, it was almost guaranteed to lose money.
This was also one of the tragedies of most venues in the Amusement Park business nowadays.
Things were different from a decade or so ago. Back then, children had plenty of free time every day, and going to the amusement park on weekends was not difficult at all.
But with the development of society, children’s homework loads had grown heavier and heavier. Going to an amusement park?
That was basically impossible.
Suddenly, an image from a game flashed through Zhang Bei’s mind. After thinking about it briefly, his eyes lit up at once.
If he really wanted to design an attraction that children could ride too, it was not impossible.
As long as an adult accompanied them, he might even reap double the happiness!

Countless couples were showing affection on the Ferris Wheel.
Zhang Bei hummed a little tune and pressed the red button.
