Chapter 59

The Roller Coaster quickly reached the peak of its hundred-meter ascent.

The dangers of the second phase immediately revealed themselves.

The track began to wobble, causing Qingyang’s face to turn pale.

The shaking didn’t last long. From a height of over a hundred meters, the entire Roller Coaster suddenly plummeted downward.

Qingyang had excellent vision; despite working as an editor for so many years, he still wasn’t nearsighted.

Because of this, he could clearly see a gap in the middle of the track ahead.

The high-speed, diving Roller Coaster reached the gap in the blink of an eye.

The entire train split into two from the middle. Qingyang, who had originally been in the center, suddenly found himself at the very front of his section.

The front half of the Roller Coaster was caught by electromagnetic induction and landed on the track below, while the section Qingyang was in plunged straight down, nose-first.

In that instant, his life’s experiences flashed through his mind.

Finally, his thoughts settled on a girl with a sweet smile.

She was a fellow editor in the same Editorial Group, though their specific responsibilities differed.

*So, I actually liked her. I just don’t know if I’ll ever have the chance to see her again.*

Qingyang’s thoughts came to a halt the moment a sudden pulling force took hold.

The Roller Coaster car was pulled onto an upward-climbing track. Looking at the ride functioning once more, he felt as though he had just experienced the ultimate highs and lows of life.

Qingyang’s eyes lost focus, and he blacked out.

As soon as the Roller Coaster experience ended, Professor Yao and a doctor arrived with Suxiao Jiuxin Wan, prioritizing the unconscious tourists for examination.

The doctor popped a small pill into Qingyang’s mouth, his expression full of resentment.

Before coming to this Amusement Park, he had worked at a Tertiary Hospital.

Specifically, in the busiest department: the Emergency Department.

But even so, the entire hospital’s monthly consumption of Suxiao Jiuxin Wan didn’t equal what this amusement park went through in a single day.

The Roller Coaster was at full capacity most of the time. With hundreds of people per ride, at least thirty required Suxiao Jiuxin Wan.

With the Roller Coaster running over a dozen times a day, the Emergency Room had essentially been turned into a warehouse.

It was filled to the brim with Suxiao Jiuxin Wan.

Professor Yao helped the last unconscious tourist onto a gurney and stretched his back.

Seeing the look in the doctor’s eyes, he suddenly laughed.

“Tired?”

The doctor shook his head. “Just mentally exhausted. The Emergency Department was never this busy in a single day.”

Professor Yao nodded. “This just goes to show that the pressure on people in modern society is far too great.”

The doctor gave a bitter smile. “I just can’t figure out what these people are thinking.”

Professor Yao narrowed his eyes. “Tell you what, keep a close eye on them lately and write a paper on it when you have time.”

“Huh?” The doctor was stunned. “Write a paper?”

Professor Yao smiled and nodded. “Yes. Don’t you think this is an excellent observation period?”

The doctor glanced at the tourists on the gurneys and finally understood the professor’s meaning.

He could use these tourists as subjects for a research paper regarding stress and emotions.

“Will that work?”

Professor Yao handed the gurney over to the doctor. “Just start writing. Those of us in the medical field should always be doing something.”

The doctor nodded. The medical profession was unique.

Whether one was buried in a Laboratory researching drugs or in a hospital saving lives, from the moment they graduated, they carried the heavy burden of life on their shoulders.

Call it the professional pride of a doctor or a reverence for life-in this industry, those who did nothing were the ones truly looked down upon.

Thanks to the effects of the Suxiao Jiuxin Wan, it wasn’t long before Qingyang regained consciousness.
Looking at the tourists lying side by side next to him, a sudden smile spread across his face.

He picked up his notebook with one hand and slowly wrote down his review.

[Suburban Amusement Park-an ordinary name that hides the extraordinary.

The moment you step onto the first ride, you’ll feel like the owner doesn’t just want your money; he wants your life!

However, I am also deeply grateful to the Amusement Park for giving me cause for reflection. It has taught me that in this precious life, one should do something meaningful.]

Qingyang stopped his review there. For the first time, he didn’t proofread or edit his words.

Instead, he carefully formatted the text and posted it to Weibo.

This article would later be re-edited by others and published in a magazine alongside some photographs.

But none of that had anything to do with the current Qingyang anymore.

“Hey, where are you?”

Qingyang held his phone in one hand, walking toward the exit with slightly weak steps.

“I’m at the office. What’s up?”

The voice on the other end sounded full of cheer.

Qingyang’s footsteps faltered for a moment before he picked up the pace.

“I’m heading back to Yanjing this afternoon. Do you want to grab dinner together?”

“Sure! I’ll wait for you!”

“Yeah, wait for me.”

After hanging up, Qingyang got into a taxi with a smile on his face.

“To the airport, driver. Please hurry.”

“You got it!”

While Qingyang was experiencing the true meaning of life, Zhang Bei currently felt his scalp go numb.

“Heizi, tell me… this is the Laboratory you found?”

Heizi rolled his eyes. “Cut the crap. Do you think anyone would just let go of a top-tier laboratory? Having one like this is already lucky!”

This had all started an hour ago when Zhang Bei received a call from Heizi.

He had found a Laboratory. It belonged to a rich second-generation heir who had been playing around with it as a hobby and was now desperate to get rid of it.

Zhang Bei drove to the address Heizi provided, but this Laboratory was quite different from what he had imagined.

The entire Laboratory only covered a hundred square meters, and that was including the total floor area.

As for the staff, there were barely any-just a few graduate students sitting around playing video games.

Yes, you read that right. These people’s daily work task was to play games.

According to that rich heir’s logic: “I established this Laboratory specifically to develop virtual reality games.”

Zhang Bei rubbed his forehead. Laboratories were hard to find; having one was indeed better than nothing.

“How much?”

Heizi chuckled twice. “Two hundred thousand. A small Laboratory that comes with all these people-not bad, right?”

Zhang Bei’s face darkened. “The Laboratory is fine, but can I fire these people?”

“No problem, I’ll handle that!”

Zhang Bei nodded and took a walk around the facility.

While it wasn’t the kind of place he imagined, with old scholars presiding over everything, the physical equipment was relatively complete.

Basically, everything that should be there was there. However, thinking about what came next gave Zhang Bei another headache.

After all, with so many things in the System, if he just brought them out directly, it wouldn’t be long before he was taken away to be sliced up for research.

The Laboratory needed at least one suitable person to take charge; that way, many things would have a logical explanation.

After a long silence, Zhang Bei patted Heizi on the shoulder.

“I’ll leave this place to you. I’m heading out.”

Heizi’s face fell. “You’re making me work while you go off to enjoy yourself?”

Zhang Bei’s gaze turned profound. “How about you come to the amusement park with me for a bit?”

Heizi instantly recalled his experience on the Drop Tower. “Never mind. Leave this to me. Go do your thing!”
