Chapter 179
Chapter 179
In the end, Li Yang still collapsed on the beach.
A smile on his face, Zhang Bei pulled the cart along and sent Li Yang into Another Life.
Working rapidly at the computer with one hand, he soon uploaded a set of data into the glasses.
Before long, Li Yang slowly opened his eyes.
Huh?
Was this the Amusement Park?
Li Yang looked around. The sky was overcast, and the entire world was deathly silent.
The whole Amusement Park seemed to have been abandoned for years. Everything was dilapidated and crumbling.
Even the once wildly popular Drop Tower looked ready to collapse.
Li Yang was completely dumbfounded.
Didn’t I just take a nap?
Was the drug really that effective?
Have I been asleep for ten years?
Holy crap, did I transmigrate?
After standing there in silence for a long while, Li Yang finally started walking deeper inside.
Everything in sight seemed to have been eaten away by time.
Weeds covered the ground, and what looked like bloodstains were scattered among them.
He hadn’t gone far when a bark caught his attention.
That sounded kind of familiar.
Was it Digua?
Li Yang turned toward the sound and saw a zombie dog with half its head missing charging straight at him.
The dried blood covering its body made one thing abundantly clear.
This thing ate people!
Without the slightest hesitation, Li Yang spun around and sprinted for the exit of the amusement park.
I’m doomed!
Digua mutated!
It’s the end of the world!
Could two legs outrun four?
The answer was yes!
Never underestimate Li Yang. After all the torment Boss Zhang had put him through, he couldn’t guarantee much else, but when it came to running away, he was definitely faster than ninety-nine percent of the population!
Li Yang might have had no idea how much time had passed, but he still knew the surrounding terrain like the back of his hand.
He sprinted all the way to the staff dormitory and finally stopped outside the apartment building.
A blood-soaked woman wandered aimlessly by the entrance, half her intestines trailing behind her.
The figure looked vaguely familiar, and Li Yang was certain he knew her.
Wasn’t that the lady who managed the apartment building?
They had even eaten hot pot together last time!
After a moment’s hesitation, Li Yang decided to circle around from another direction.
Forget how strong that thing might be. Just the thought of getting close to it made his scalp crawl.
Following the wall around the apartment complex, Li Yang soon reached the side gate.
Another familiar face stood before him.
Only this one sent an even deeper chill through him.
Chef Li!
No matter how badly his appearance had been twisted, Li Yang had spent so much time around him that he recognized him at a glance.
At that moment, however, Chef Li was cradling a severed head in his arms and gnawing on it.
Pale brain matter was splattered everywhere.
Li Yang concealed himself and watched the scene before him.
Disgusting?
Not really. Wasn’t he just eating brains?
As long as Chef Li was the one cooking them, Li Yang could eat brains every day!
Granted, the raw ingredients probably weren’t the same.
Still, they looked similar enough.
After Chef Li finished gnawing on the brain, he rose unsteadily to his feet and staggered off into the distance.
Li Yang took a deep breath and stepped through the apartment building’s entrance.
The building clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. Dust blanketed the floor.
Then again, it wasn’t surprising. The woman responsible for cleaning the place was still outside hunting for prey.
Just as he was about to head farther inside, a faint sound reached his ears.
The left?
Nothing!
The right?
Nothing there either!
Then it had to be overhead!
Li Yang hurriedly looked up and found something resembling a heart hanging above him.
Except this “heart” had a human face, and that face belonged to the doctor!
Tentacles shot in from every direction and wrapped around Li Yang’s body.
A sharp pain pierced him. In an instant, Li Yang could clearly feel the weakness spreading through him as his blood was drained away.
Finally, another wave of dizziness swept over him, and he blacked out completely.
Some time later, Li Yang opened his eyes, gasping for breath.
As his gaze swept around the Emergency Room, the Suxiao Jiuxin Wan came into view.
Damn it, that scared the life out of me!
That dream was way too realistic!
Hearing the screams outside the door, interspersed with occasional laughter, he gradually relaxed.
After sitting on the bed in the Emergency Room and collecting himself for a while, Li Yang pushed the door open with one hand.
Desolate. Dilapidated…
Li Yang: “!!!”
Did I open the door wrong?
The Amusement Park was still as desolate as ever, but now it was packed with visitors.
Every one of them had a bluish complexion and floated above the ground.
That’s right. The entire Amusement Park was full of ghosts!
Faced with pair after pair of icy eyes, Li Yang slammed the door shut.
He dragged a crate full of Suxiao Jiuxin Wan in front of the door, then dropped to the floor.
Let me get this straight.
I woke up and somehow ran into a zombie Digua.
Then that turned out to be a dream, and now there’s a ghost Amusement Park outside.
So… is this a dream too?
Li Yang slapped himself hard across the face.
Holy shit, that hurt!
Not a dream!
Rubbing his cheek, Li Yang stared intently out the window.
“Could you help me pick something up?”
Some responses had already become instinctive. Li Yang answered without even thinking.
“What is it?”
“My eye. Except… you stepped on it and broke it.”
The sinister voice finally jolted Li Yang’s brain into gear.
He stiffly turned his neck toward the source of the voice.
A figure in a white coat, its face a bloody mess, was floating right beside him.
It held an eyeball in one hand while the other groped around blindly.
Li Yang’s mind went blank for a fraction of a second. Then he looked at the door he had barricaded so thoroughly, and tears instantly streamed down his face.
But it was far too late for regrets. The figure in the white coat grabbed Li Yang’s arm and lunged at him.
“I’ll eat you! Once I eat you, I’ll have new eyes!”
The sensation of flesh being gnawed from his face washed over him.
Li Yang blacked out once again.
Sitting beside Li Yang, Zhang Bei had already burst out laughing.
This was actually the next scenario in Another Life.
Its full title was Thirteen-Layer Dreamscape.
Zhang Bei had only completed up to the fifth layer so far, but the results seemed pretty good.
Li Yang, still lying in the chair, opened his eyes yet again.
This time, he found himself lying directly on the beach.
Zhang Bei’s face just happened to appear in his field of vision.
Li Yang eyed him warily. “Boss?”
“You’re awake?”
Li Yang looked around. This time, the Amusement Park finally seemed normal.
He breathed an inward sigh of relief and sat down beside Zhang Bei.
“I had a terrifying nightmare!”
Zhang Bei leaned back in his chair. “What kind of nightmare?”
Li Yang let out a long sigh. “The terrifying kind. It just kept looping over and over again.”
An amused smile appeared on Zhang Bei’s face. “Then how do you know you aren’t still dreaming right now?”
Li Yang: “!!!”
“All right, if you’re fine, get back to work.”
Li Yang exhaled heavily. “Boss, it was seriously terrifying!”
“Was it as terrifying as this?”
As soon as the words fell, Zhang Bei vanished.
In his place stood a monster with a snake’s head and a human body.
A half-human creature might have been tolerable if only its upper body were human, but its lower half?
Li Yang no longer cared whether this was a dream. He scrambled to his feet and fled into the distance.
