Chapter 60
Chapter 60
Hearing Heizi’s firm tone, Zhang Bei nodded and quickly walked out of the laboratory.
He drove all the way and soon arrived at the university campus.
Since they moved in different circles, the most suitable person Zhang Bei could think of was Professor Li.
The two were fairly well-acquainted. As long as Professor Li could recommend a few suitable people, the laboratory could begin operations.
He knocked on the door of Professor Li’s apartment with practiced ease.
“Come in!”
Zhang Bei pushed the door open, and the first thing he saw was Professor Li sitting in his chair.
“Why is it you again, kid?”
Zhang Bei smiled. “I’m here to trouble you with something!”
Professor Li was quite patient with this genius who had developed the Micro Electromagnetic technology on his own.
“Tell me, what’s going on?”
Zhang Bei scratched his head and sat down on the sofa.
“Professor Li, do you know any physicists? I have a project here that needs someone to oversee it.”
Hearing this, Professor Li’s eyes immediately lit up.
“What have you come up with now, kid?”
“I only have some preliminary ideas for now. It’s related to aerodynamics.”
Professor Li tapped the tabletop. Aerodynamics was widely applied, and there were quite a few scientists in this field.
“What are the specific requirements?”
“I don’t need any big shots. I’ve set up my own laboratory; I just need someone to oversee the operations.”
Zhang Bei knew very well that the data provided by the System was the complete version. Having an industry titan would just be a waste; all he really needed was a name to fill the position.
Professor Li thought for a moment. “I can introduce someone to you, but I want to take a look at your laboratory.”
At his age, Professor Li no longer had any desire for money or power. All that remained was his love for research.
“No problem!”
Zhang Bei understood what Professor Li meant-he wanted to see the experiment. With the complete version of the data, Zhang Bei wasn’t afraid of looking incompetent.
Professor Li pulled up a file on his computer. “It’s him. What do you think?”
Zhang Bei squinted at it. The photo showed a man in his forties. The profile was concise; he had been conducting research at the Yanda research lab for many years. Now, he was facing the trouble of his laboratory being shut down because he hadn’t produced any results in years.
“Fine, he’ll do!”
Professor Li nodded, took out his phone, and dialed a number.
“Xiao Guan, I have a laboratory here that’s short on people. Come over for a bit.”
The voice on the phone sounded somewhat haggard. “Okay, I’ll be there in a while.”
The call ended after just those two sentences. Professor Li raised an eyebrow as he watched Zhang Bei help himself to some tea.
“You really don’t make yourself a stranger, do you?”
Zhang Bei placed the first cup of tea in front of Professor Li.
“I was a bit thirsty. Please don’t mind, Professor!”
Just as he finished speaking, a voice came from outside the door.
“Professor, may I come in?”
Professor Li frowned. “Come in!”
The apartment door was pushed open again, and a thin young man walked in. Seeing someone else there, he momentarily froze.
Professor Li turned to Zhang Bei. “This is my good-for-nothing disciple. Sit for a moment.”
“What’s the problem this time?”
The young man quickly sat down next to the professor and pulled a stack of A4 papers from his coat.
“It’s about that Micro Electromagnetic device you gave us, Professor. I’m having some trouble with the derivation of the third formula.”
Professor Li sighed. Most of his disciples had already become successful. Only this youngest one was still by his side learning.
“Based on the first law of alternating current, calculate the electrical influence.”
Sitting to the side, Zhang Bei couldn’t help but speak up. “Actually, you just need to plug in the results from the second formula.”
As soon as he spoke, the room fell into a sudden silence.
Professor Li was busy verifying the formula in his head. After all, Zhang Bei was the original creator of the Micro Electromagnetic technology.
No one understood it more thoroughly than he did.
Meanwhile, the graduate student was lost in a daze of speculation.
Who is this guy?
Which big shot’s disciple is he?
How does he know the formulas for the Micro Electromagnetic technology?
This stuff is clearly classified information!
The silence was eventually broken by Professor Li’s heavy sigh.
“So we misunderstood it. But since the second formula works, why did you write so much about alternating current?”
In the documents Professor Li had received, Zhang Bei had written two full pages of arguments regarding alternating current.
Because the data was so comprehensive, all the scientists had assumed it was part of the formula’s derivation process.
After Zhang Bei’s explanation, Professor Li finally realized that those alternating current arguments were truly just… arguments.
Even without them, the integrity of the data wouldn’t be affected at all.
Zhang Bei scratched his head. This information had been directly imprinted into his brain by the System.
He had simply transcribed everything onto his computer exactly as it was, and it ended up like this.
“Shouldn’t a formula have supporting arguments?”
Professor Li felt a wave of helplessness wash over him. He waved a hand at his disciple.
“You head back first. I’ll give you a new set of materials later.”
The man nodded and obediently walked out of the apartment.
The moment he stepped out the door, it finally clicked.
Holy crap, what did they just say?
So, he’s the one who developed this Micro Electromagnetic tech?
Damn, ‘genius’ doesn’t even begin to describe him, does it?
He left the apartment in a state of shock. Inside, Professor Li pulled out several sets of documents and laid them on the table.
“To make sure nothing was missed, read through these materials first. Then, see if there’s anything else redundant in your version.”
Professor Li was truly getting a headache from Zhang Bei.
Anyone with a formal academic background knows how to write a report-it’s supposed to be concise.
But Zhang Bei was self-taught and followed no established rules. Just looking at his initial data had been enough to make Professor Li’s head throb.
He hadn’t expected there to be issues like this buried inside.
Zhang Bei cleared his throat and picked up the documents with one hand to begin reading.
An hour later, Zhang Bei rubbed his aching temples.
“That’s everything!”
Professor Li’s mouth twitched as he looked at the documents, which had been slashed by a full two-thirds.
“Do you have any idea how long we spent studying this data?”
Zhang Bei scratched his head. “How should I know?”
“Fifteen professors spent over thirty hours on it without sleep.”
That somber tone immediately reminded Zhang Bei of the doctor at the Amusement Park.
“I’ll be more careful next time, next time!”
“Professor, are you in?”
A voice from outside the door gave the professor a temporary reprieve from Zhang Bei.
“Come in!”
The door opened, and Zhang Bei’s eyes instantly lit up.
He’s here!
Professor Li merely nodded as the newcomer entered. “Guan Guo, take a seat.”
The man sat down, his eyes occasionally darting toward Zhang Bei.
It was obvious that Zhang Bei was the key figure here; he might even be working under him in the future.
Professor Li cleared his throat and spoke slowly. “Xiao Guan, we all understand your current situation. I’m wondering what your thoughts are?”
Guan Guo sighed. “What thoughts could I have? As long as there’s a Laboratory where I can conduct my experiments, I’m fine.”
However, he glanced at Zhang Bei, his tone turning serious. “But I won’t join a Laboratory that’s just someone’s vanity project.”
