Chapter 159
Chapter 159
“Zigang, you need to run. If this keeps up, you’ll die here sooner or later.”
“Why?”
Little Fatty fell silent for a moment. “You can’t beat them. Those major shareholders will never let the evidence get out.”
Qingqing might have been a little slow on the uptake, but she wasn’t actually stupid.
Putting Little Fatty’s words together with the schedule in front of her, she quickly realized that this school was nothing more than a college entrance exam factory.
Silence fell. The only sound in the dormitory was the rise and fall of everyone’s breathing.
The scene faded to black, and a line of text flashed across the screen.
[The next day.]
Before Qingqing could get her bearings, Little Fatty’s voice rang in her ears.
“Zigang, hurry up!”
Qingqing snapped back to her senses. Little Fatty had already grabbed her by the arm and was dragging her outside.
The sky was still dark, and Little Fatty moved at a frantic pace.
“Stop spacing out! We’re running out of time!”
Little Fatty dragged Qingqing all the way to the classroom, and they finally made it inside just before the bell rang.
The moment Qingqing sat down, a girl approached her and pressed a notebook into her hands.
“I’m sorry. This is all I can do for you.”
With that, the girl gave Qingqing a sweet smile, then leaped out the window.
A gust of cold wind blew into the room.
Yet the entire class remained chillingly indifferent, as though a human life meant nothing at all.
A discordant voice broke the silence.
“Huang Zigang, how many more people are you going to get killed?”
Qingqing stared at the boy in front of her. She opened her mouth, but no sound came out.
The bell rang. Fear flashed across the boy’s face, and he hurried back to his seat.
No one spoke during morning self-study. Everyone silently worked on their test papers.
Qingqing cautiously opened the notebook.
[Zigang, there are only a few of us left in the Resistance. Please, don’t give up. Make sure those animals get the punishment they deserve!]
Her expression grave, Qingqing turned the pages one by one.
[The principal isn’t the largest shareholder. I still haven’t identified the investors behind him. Remember, you must not expose yourself until you’ve found the evidence!]
Through the notebook, Qingqing finally learned the identity she had assumed.
Because Huang Zigang had trained in martial arts, he had taken the lead in gathering the students who could still think for themselves and formed the Resistance.
They had all been secretly collecting evidence as they waited for an opportunity to fight back.
Morning self-study passed in the blink of an eye. Qingqing tucked the notebook securely inside her clothes, her gaze drifting toward the window from time to time.
“Stop looking. The principal will pay to have the whole thing covered up.”
Qingqing stared at the sunlight outside, yet felt colder than ever.
“A person just died!”
Little Fatty’s gaze sharpened. “Huang Zigang, do you honestly think a handful of students like us can stand against the principal?”
“Why can’t we?”
“They spent over a billion yuan building this school. What can a few students possibly use to fight them?”
Before Qingqing could answer, the boy from earlier rose and walked over.
“Huang Zigang, stop this. Otherwise, they’ll all be dead before you ever find the evidence!”
“You’re willing to let them oppress you? You’ve never even thought about fighting back?”
The boy looked out the window. “Would fighting back do any good? It’s only three years. Why can’t you just endure it?”
Little Fatty patted the boy on the shoulder. “She’s coming. Go back to your seat.”
The boy shot Qingqing a vicious glare before returning to his seat.
A woman strode up to the lectern, her high heels clicking against the floor, and swept her gaze around the classroom.
“Wake up and focus. I’m telling you now-every hardship you endure today will come back to you as points on your exam!”
That was all the woman said before she began the lesson.
Qingqing yawned as she listened to the complicated formulas.
Somehow, that single yawn seemed to enrage the woman. A book came hurtling straight at Qingqing.
“What are you doing?”
Qingqing froze in shock.
What the fuck did I do?
All I did was yawn!
The woman picked up a pointer and walked over to Qingqing.
“Hold out your hand!”
Qingqing glanced at Little Fatty trembling beside her and wisely chose not to resist.
The pointer struck Qingqing’s palm again and again.
The woman did not stop until her entire palm was red and swollen.
“Don’t try any funny business in my class. Let this be a lesson to you!”
Qingqing frowned at her palm, which was already beginning to ooze blood.
Still, she endured it in silence.
Before long, the bell rang, and the woman clicked out of the classroom in her high heels.
Little Fatty took a bottle of medicine out of his desk.
“Don’t move!”
Watching Little Fatty carefully apply the medicine to her wounds, Qingqing could not help smiling.
But when she felt the faint chill of the notebook tucked against her chest, her smile faded.
Little Fatty put the medicine away and sighed. “Zigang, is there really any point in keeping this up?”
Qingqing touched the notebook against her chest. “A school like this shouldn’t exist. There has to be a way!”
Little Fatty glanced at the clock hanging in the classroom. “Then I’ll help you one more time. At three this afternoon, I’ll get you into the principal’s office.”
“Huh?”
“You’ll only have ten minutes. This is the last time I’m helping you.”
Qingqing looked at Little Fatty and nodded solemnly.
Soon, the bell rang for the next class. Everyone immediately sat ramrod straight, their eyes fixed ahead.
The man who had brutally beaten Qingqing the previous night walked in. His gaze lingered on her for a moment.
“You all know what happened this morning. Same as always-keep your mouths shut!”
The man set his bag down on the lectern. “Huang Zigang, come with me.”
Qingqing took a deep breath and followed him.
He led her into an office, but the sight inside made Qingqing’s pupils contract.
A girl stood beside the desk, her face covered in blood.
Another woman stood in front of her, lashing her with a pointer again and again.
“Talk! Who’s in this Resistance of yours?”
Upon seeing Qingqing, the girl lowered her head even further and silently endured the pointer striking her body over and over.
The man pulled over a chair and sat down. “Do you know him?”
The girl hurriedly shook her head. “No… I don’t!”
The man chuckled softly, then slapped her so hard that she went sprawling across the floor.
“Who do you think you are, forming some Resistance? Your teachers work so hard to educate you, and this is how you repay them? By resisting?”
Qingqing lowered her head and clenched her teeth.
Educate us, my ass! If you motherfuckers couldn’t shock me, I’d single-handedly teach every last one of you a lesson!
The man wiped the blood from his hand and turned his gaze to Qingqing.
“Zigang, you’re a good kid. As long as you admit you know her, I’ll tell your mother that you aren’t suited to stay here.”
Qingqing fell silent.
All she had to do was admit it, and she could leave this school. That would also mean clearing the scenario.
She had been forced to swallow one humiliation after another ever since entering this scenario.
Now, all she had to do was nod. The moment they took off her Wristband, she could beat the shit out of these bastards!
