Chapter 175
Chapter 175
It was almost time for the water park to open for the afternoon when Zhang Bei led Li Yang inside.
“B-Boss, wh-what’s wrong?”
Without a word, Zhang Bei took out the medical report.
“According to the diagnosis, you have a severe case of pica.”
Li Yang: ???
Pica, my ass!
Other than their strange names, hadn’t those foods all been perfectly normal?
Sure, they had looked a little horrifying, but they really had tasted good!
Zhang Bei beamed as he held up the medical report.
“There’s an area in the diving attraction that none of the visitors have explored yet.”
He had only said half of what he meant, but Li Yang already understood his boss perfectly.
He wanted a guinea pig!
Well, it wasn’t as though this was his first time.
“I’ll grab a helmet and go right now.”
“That section requires a team. You’ll need to find one more person.”
Li Yang’s eyes widened.
Hey, hey, hey!
Wasn’t that going a little too far?!
With his reputation, who was he supposed to ask?
Other than the two old professors, he’d already screwed over everyone in the entire Amusement Park at least once.
And now Zhang Bei wanted him to find a teammate?
At the sight of the medical report in Zhang Bei’s hand, Li Yang nearly burst into tears.
This was downright evil!
After a long silence, Li Yang finally resigned himself to his fate. He took the report and went straight to Gu Yue.
“Can you do me a favor?”
After being tricked by Li Yang so many times, Gu Yue immediately went on guard.
“Tell me what it is first.”
Li Yang carefully chose his words. “The boss said there’s something in the diving attraction that needs to be brought out. It’s too heavy for me to move alone.”
Gu Yue stared him in the eyes. “I don’t believe you!”
Li Yang heaved a long sigh. He knew it!
“The boss wants me to find someone to help test one of the areas in the diving attraction.”
“Then you can forget it. I’m definitely not going.”
Li Yang gritted his teeth. “One lipstick. That’s as high as I’ll go!”
“No.”
“And a tube of lip balm!”
“I’ll consider it.”
“Just tell me. What do you actually want?”
A mysterious smile appeared on Gu Yue’s face. “All you have to do is agree to one request.”
“What request?”
“I’m not telling!”
Li Yang clenched his jaw. “Deal!”
The two quickly changed and put on their diving equipment.
Zhang Bei pressed a button, dropping them straight into the water.
The diving facility was enormous, sprawling beneath virtually the entire water park.
The sunken ship Nangong Guo had explored last time was only a tiny part of it.
There was no way the visitors could have explored the entire facility in a single morning.
Still, there was one area Zhang Bei had especially high hopes for.
He could only hope his employees would come through and explore as much of it as possible.
Following the current, Li Yang and Gu Yue soon arrived before an ancient stone door.
The sight of the densely packed symbols covering its surface filled them with despair.
Li Yang nodded to Gu Yue, and the two began searching for a mechanism.
It did not take Li Yang long to find the switch that opened the door.
Its design, however, was so absurd that he could barely resist complaining.
Who put a switch inside a skull’s mouth?!
Wouldn’t anyone timid be too scared to ever open the door?
Complaints aside, he still reached into the skull’s mouth and pulled the lever.
With a deep rumble, the stone door slowly opened.
A flight of stairs descending into the depths appeared before them.
Gu Yue blew out a stream of bubbles as an ominous feeling rose within her.
This looked strangely familiar!
Wasn’t this a tomb?!
So was this place actually one enormous burial chamber?
A string of images flashed through her mind, and her chest tightened.
Meanwhile, aboveground, a crowd had packed into the Monitoring Room, watching Li Yang and Gu Yue on the screens.
Chef Li had only just heard about the situation from Zhang Bei.
“Boss, isn’t this a little… inappropriate?”
“I’m taking pleasure in helping others!”
Chef Li: “?”
“I help other people and let them enjoy themselves.”
The employees: “?”
Was that really what “taking pleasure in helping others” meant?
Zhang ‘Living King Yan’ Bei paid no attention to the strange looks around him. He remained fully focused on the monitor.
Li Yang and Gu Yue had followed the submerged stairs to the first burial chamber.
After being bombarded with countless novels and TV dramas, Gu Yue had picked up a fair amount of knowledge about tombs.
The place they had entered through appeared to be an entrance passage. The walls of the chamber they were now in were covered in murals.
From that alone, it was clear that this tomb dated back to around the Han Dynasty.
Throughout Huaxia’s history, such lavish burial customs had only existed during the Han Dynasty.
Li Yang wasn’t thinking that deeply. His attention remained fixed on the murals in front of him.
Although they could only see what their searchlights illuminated, the meaning behind the murals was still fairly clear.
The wall could roughly be divided into three scenes. The first depicted a boy of about ten braving wind and snow to seek a master.
The second showed the boy returning after completing his training, only to encounter a period of turmoil. He simply moved deep into the mountains to escape it.
The third scene was much more interesting. It depicted a group of hideous ghosts emerging through a gate.
The ghosts had three heads and six arms, three blue-black faces, and flames spewing from their mouths.
As Gu Yue stared at the mural, she couldn’t shake the feeling that it looked familiar.
Li Yang had just turned around, intending to signal for her to keep exploring, when Gu Yue’s entire body began to tremble.
Knowing full well how inhuman their boss could be, Li Yang instantly spun back around.
Before his eyes, the hideous ghosts in the mural were slowly squeezing their way out of the wall.
In his panic, Li Yang gulped down a huge mouthful of water. He grabbed Gu Yue and swam deeper into the tomb.
Damn it, I’m such an idiot! Why didn’t I leave as soon as I finished looking?!
After racking her brain, Gu Yue finally remembered what the ghost in the mural was.
“Asura!”
Of course, the moment she opened her mouth, she swallowed a huge mouthful of water.
All Li Yang heard was a string of muffled gurgles.
After a moment of silence, Gu Yue gave up on trying to speak.
Having swallowed two mouthfuls of water between them, the pair naturally proceeded into the second burial chamber.
This chamber had clearly been used to store everyday items.
There were all kinds of pots, bowls, ladles, and basins, as well as several large vats.
However, because the chamber was underwater, everything was strewn about in disarray.
Li Yang’s attention was drawn instead to the coffin in the center of the chamber.
The wooden coffin hung suspended by several chains.
After staring at it for a moment, Li Yang decided to go around it. The only thing that mattered was getting out of this godforsaken place as soon as possible!
To his horror, Gu Yue swam straight toward the coffin.
Seven wooden nails had been driven into its lid, which was also carved with several inscriptions.
Gu Yue narrowed her eyes. A Han Dynasty tomb, combined with the first two murals they had seen, gave her a vague idea of who the tomb’s owner might be.
Just as she was about to push open the lid and investigate, Li Yang grabbed her arm and frantically shook his head.
Don’t open it! Knowing how twisted our boss is, the moment this coffin opens, we’re both definitely done for!
Gu Yue hesitated for a moment before abandoning the idea of opening the coffin.
They made their way to the far end of the chamber, where they found a stone door almost identical to the previous one.
The two searched for a long time but couldn’t find the mechanism anywhere.
Li Yang felt his scalp prickle as he looked back at the coffin.
The first mechanism had been hidden inside a skull’s mouth.
Following that logic, wouldn’t the mechanism here also be hidden somewhere on the body?
