Chapter 201
Chapter 201
Silence descended.
Director Gu took a long, hard drag on his cigarette, his face creased with worry.
“Let’s do it!”
His subordinates had visited the Amusement Park plenty of times. By now, he’d either seen or heard about everything this place had to offer.
At the very least, every one of them had returned completely free of stress.
With worry written all over his face, Li Yang carried out an inner tube and placed a paddle in Director Gu’s hands.
“Once you’re down there, ignore everything else and paddle straight for the shore!”
Director Gu nodded solemnly. “Got it!”
Li Yang gave the inner tube a hard shove, sending it shooting down the slide.
Director Gu clutched the paddle tightly as he spun his way along the slide. The occasional small ramp bounced him up and down.
Soon, the inner tube reached the electromagnetic induction zone.
Before Director Gu could recover from all the violent spinning, he was launched straight into the sky.
The wind dried the droplets on his face, and in that instant, Director Gu saw everyone for what they truly were.
Fuck. Not one of them was a decent human being!
Zhang Bei, Li Yang-even his precious daughter had turned black-hearted!
Director Gu didn’t remain airborne for long. After all, even this place had to show Newton some respect.
Under the pull of gravity, the inner tube finally landed back on the slide.
But the sight ahead made Director Gu’s heart lurch.
In the middle of a gigantic loop was a seventy-five-degree drop!
Holy shit! Are they trying to kill me?!
The question had barely crossed his mind when the current swept the inner tube toward the drop.
Director Gu gripped the paddle with both hands and frantically rowed through the air. He leaned back with all his might, and judging by his severely constipated expression, he was giving it everything he had.
Unfortunately, some things couldn’t be changed through effort alone.
The inner tube plunged down the seventy-five-degree slope.
The sudden burst of speed made the high-ranking Director scream at the top of his lungs.
Just before his mind went completely blank, an enormous splash carried the inner tube into the pool.
“Hurry!”
Through the haze, Director Gu saw the doctor beckoning frantically from the shore.
Li Yang’s warning echoed in his ears.
Director Gu glanced to the side and saw two gray shapes swimming toward him.
As someone who had once served in a peacekeeping force, Director Gu found them very familiar.
They could be found in most bodies of water throughout the Amazon Jungle.
His brain crashed for two full seconds. Then the paddle instantly turned into a propeller.
In Director Gu’s hands, the tiny inner tube transformed into a jet ski.
At that speed, it looked ready to sprout wings and take flight.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the park, Kou Fu received his first surprise since being released from prison.
The Roller Coaster had now reached the top of its hundred-meter climb.
Looking down, the people on the ground were no bigger than ants.
The occasional swaying made Kou Fu’s face turn deathly pale.
Holy shit! Was beating me up not enough? Do they have to kill me too?!
Kou Fu hadn’t been this nervous even when he’d taken a knife and slaughtered an entire family.
Once, he’d been a proud and imposing man. Once, he’d had a whole gang of lackeys following him around.
But now, all he could do was curl up in his seat and tremble.
Weak, helpless, and pitiful.
The Roller Coaster finally stopped swaying. Then it hurtled forward at such a terrifying speed that Kou Fu’s mind filled with vertigo.
In his daze, the boss who had once shared his prison cell appeared before him.
Somewhere in the depths of his mind, Kou Fu vaguely remembered that the man had been executed by firing squad.
As the violent dizziness gradually faded, Kou Fu’s soul, which had been left trailing behind, finally caught up and returned to his body.
The scene before him raised Kou Fu’s mental fortitude to a whole new level yet again.
The broken section of the Roller Coaster he was sitting in hung suspended in midair, teetering on the verge of collapse.
A single tear of regret slid down his cheek.
If I hadn’t killed anyone, I wouldn’t have gone to prison.
If I hadn’t gone to prison, my daughter wouldn’t have gotten sick.
If my daughter hadn’t gotten sick, I wouldn’t have come here.
With a faint crack, the broken section of the Roller Coaster plummeted toward the ground under the pull of gravity.
Kou Fu’s thoughts finally stopped. The last thing to surface in his mind was the boss’s apologetic voice.
“I misunderstood you today. Whatever you want to ride, it’s on me!”
Half an hour later, Kou Fu slowly opened his eyes.
Huh?
I’m still alive?
“You’re awake?”
Hearing the voice beside him, Kou Fu turned his head.
Boss Zhang’s face immediately filled his vision.
The rage buried deep within him erupted in an instant.
He planted both hands on the ground and tried to push himself up for revenge.
Regulars at the Amusement Park all knew that the best thing to do after passing out was to lie down for a while.
Unfortunately, Kou Fu was not one of those regulars.
His arms managed to lift his body, but his legs were still weak.
“Thud!”
His knees slammed into the ground, leaving two deep craters as a crisp crack rang in his ears.
“Hey, don’t! What are you doing? One ride on the Roller Coaster hardly costs anything!”
Zhang Bei helped Kou Fu up, the smile on his face completely genuine.
Kou Fu raised his eyes to the sky.
I wonder if the lawyer who defended me back then is still practicing.
How many years would I get if I killed one more person?
Zhang Bei had quite the nose for danger. The instant he helped Kou Fu to his feet, he darted several yards away.
Killing intent!
Kou Fu watched the boss retreat into the distance and helplessly reached out a hand.
Zhang Bei-truly a man who never gave anyone the slightest opening-had screwed… ahem, helped Kou Fu release his pent-up stress, leaving himself refreshed in both body and mind.
Taking advantage of his excellent mood, he headed straight into the Monitoring Room and began designing the next project.
Meanwhile, Little Cao was facing a crisis.
The Seven Wolves belt in Cao Jia’s hand gleamed as it drew steadily closer to Little Cao.
“Dad, let me explain!”
“You can explain after I beat you!”
Why was Cao Jia so furious?
It all began with the worsening marks on his knees.
Yesterday, Little Cao had paid Cao Jia hush money.
As an avid collector of secret spending money, Cao Jia had slipped the large bills into his pants pocket.
He had planned to hide them once his wife went out, and then everything would have been fine.
But for some inexplicable reason, the Head of the Cao Family insisted on doing the laundry right after breakfast that morning.
And so, before the five hundred yuan he’d just received could even warm his pocket, he had to hand it over to the Head of the Cao Family.
Old Cao knelt on a durian and pondered the matter carefully for a long time.
First, Little Cao had unquestionably benefited the most from the whole affair.
He had spent only five hundred yuan, yet not only had he dispelled his mother’s suspicions, but he had also won his freedom.
Second, his wife had only gotten the idea to do laundry because Little Cao said the clothes were dirty.
Finally, the brat was his own son. Surely there was nothing wrong with beating him to vent a little anger, right?
Having reached his conclusion, Cao Jia grabbed his belt and charged toward the Amusement Park.
Sure enough, Little Cao was leading a group of children as they worked hard to make money.
But even in the face of the Seven Wolves, how could Little Cao willingly surrender?
“If you hit me, I’ll tell Mom!”
Old Cao gave a cold sneer. “I’ve already peeled the durian, and I broke the washboard while washing it. Get over here!”
