Chapter 109
Chapter 109
But in the end, Mao Jing couldn’t quite bring herself to be ruthless. After all, this was a boyfriend she’d gone through untold hardships to obtain.
Gu Chen, utterly unaware of the danger he’d been in, carefully searched his memory and finally recalled what had happened.
“Mm, Jingjing, why do I remember…?”
“You don’t. You remembered wrong. It must have been a nightmare!”
Gu Chen stared straight into his girlfriend’s eyes.
“Is that so?”
“It is!”
Looking at those big, watery eyes of hers, Gu Chen ultimately chose to believe her.
After all, how could a little girl who was afraid of ghosts possibly unleash a whole combo of punches on him?
Before anyone realized it, business hours quietly slipped by.
After a full day of operations, Zhang Bei leaned back in a chair in the Cafeteria, waiting for the employees to finish tidying up the facilities.
Taking advantage of the time, Zhang Bei began thinking about the Amusement Park’s next step.
The entire Amusement Park was already fairly large now. Most of the facilities it ought to have had basically been built.
Next, he needed to enrich the attractions a little more, things like the Haunted House, and eventually build out the water park.
Only once that appeared could the Amusement Park be considered complete.
As he was thinking, a voice by his ear pulled Zhang Bei’s thoughts back to reality.
“Boss, Digua seems to have eaten something bad today!”
You Bai was crouching on the ground, rubbing Digua’s dog head with one hand.
Zhang Bei frowned. “I’ll go get the medicine!”
The last time he’d taken Digua to the Pet Hospital, he’d gotten quite a lot of medicine. They had basically every common type.
After rummaging around for a bit, he quickly pulled out a packet.
He brought over the food bowl Digua used for meals. Seeing it filled to the brim with canned food, he immediately sighed.
This dog’s life was far happier than a human’s.
Most of the day, it hugged its food bowl and stood guard over by the Toy House.
As long as someone was a regular at the Amusement Park, they would basically bring it a can of food.
Chef Li hadn’t fed it in ages, yet somehow all that meat on its body kept getting fatter and sturdier.
Zhang Bei tore open the medicine and looked it over carefully. It was the kind that had to be mixed into food.
He directly sprinkled the entire packet of powder into the bowl.
“Woof, woof!”
“What are you barking for?”
“Woof, woof, woof!”
“Hurry up and eat!”
“Woof!”
“I didn’t poison it!”
Digua’s tiny eyes, squeezed between folds of fat, were filled with suspicion. It stared at the whole bowl of canned food and simply refused to take a bite.
Zhang Bei smacked his forehead. “This dog has turned into a spirit!”
Still, as the amusement park’s pet, everyone knew Digua’s preferences.
Chef Li directly grabbed a handful of dried sweet potatoes and tossed them in.
Watching Digua finally lower its head to eat, Zhang Bei silently sat back down in his chair.
This was honestly ridiculous. Whose dog was afraid of being poisoned?
Zhang Bei looked at Digua’s plump body and suddenly had an idea.
If this dog grew wings, would it still be able to fly?
Wait a second. Growing wings?
Flying?
A vacuum!
Struck by a new idea, Zhang Bei couldn’t even be bothered to eat. He took out a blank sheet of paper and started drawing.
You Bai, off to the side, looked at the boss in confusion.
What was going on?
Had he realized his days were numbered and decided to write his last words?
After all, considering the current state of the Amusement Park, the fact that the boss hadn’t been beaten to death yet already meant he was incredibly skilled in combat!
As for his lifespan or whatever, it had probably been worn down to almost nothing long ago.
However, Zhang Bei, immersed in his concept, knew nothing of You Bai’s dangerous thoughts.
The pencil in his hand moved rapidly, and a spherical object appeared on the white paper.
Once Zhang Bei had drawn up to this point, it was more or less enough. The remaining details would have to be filled in slowly.
By now, the Cafeteria was already packed with employees.
Li Yang’s eyes lit up after just one glance at the blueprints. “Boss, is this a new project?”
“Yes. A project we can open up to children.”
The doctor had just finished taking inventory of the heart-saving pills when he heard the key word: children.
“Boss, can you stop tormenting children?”
“When have I ever tormented children?”
Zhang Bei was absolutely certain that he was deeply loved by children.
The doctor silently sighed and sat down off to the side.
As the amusement park grew larger and larger, the children gradually became more active as well.
Whether it was the Human Cannon or the Hot Air Balloon, plenty of children lined up for them every day.
Of course, the Cao father and son were a complete accident. Most children were able to enjoy the thrill of skydiving and the scenery.
After dinner, Zhang Bei called Guan Guo.
“New task. I’ll be at the Laboratory in a bit.”
“Yes, boss!”
Hearing Zhang Bei’s voice, Guan Guo actually sounded a little excited.
During this period without Zhang Bei’s materials, the pain of independent research had instantly made itself known.
He had to figure out the formulas himself and verify every theory from scratch.
After all this time, he hadn’t even produced the result of a single formula.
It didn’t take Zhang Bei long to drive to the Laboratory.
He skillfully opened the coded door, only to be greeted by a pair of eyes glowing green.
Zhang Bei silently took two steps back and placed a file on the lab bench.
“Take a look first. If there’s anything you don’t understand, ask me.”
Guan Guo couldn’t wait to pick up the file and flip through it. The more he read, the more shocked he became.
“Is this anti-gravity?”
“Not exactly. In essence, it’s a form of dynamic equilibrium achieved through an electric power system.”
Guan Guo scratched his head. “I understand!”
“How long will this thing take?”
Guan Guo thought for a moment. “About half a month. This thing is a bit complicated.”
“All right. Then I’m leaving it to you!”
The alloy from last time was still undergoing all kinds of tests in several hidden laboratories.
Once Professor Li got the official documents approved, Zhang Bei planned to hand it straight over to Heizi.
This thing belonged to the realm of basic industry. Zhang Bei had no intention of interfering too much with the commercial side of it.
Heizi had grown up in that kind of environment since he was little. Leaving it to him would definitely be better than handling it himself.
Half a month was not long. It quietly slipped by amid the wails and howls echoing through the Amusement Park.
Before anyone realized it, the visitors had all put on jackets.
However, during this half month, two pieces of news were worth noting.
The first was that Huaxia’s electromagnetic cannon had already been successfully miniaturized and was now being developed toward single-soldier use.
The second came from the automobile industry. A new-energy car company called Tianting announced its entry into the automotive field, promising highly efficient clean energy.
Everyone guessed right. After the efforts of many scientists, the Micro Electromagnetic Cannon had been fully developed.
And Heizi’s car company had finally begun to make its voice heard.
Naming it Tianting declared its enormous ambition.
In half a month, Guan Guo had already manufactured the first batch of dynamic balance device units.
Morning arrived. Zhang Bei sat in the Monitoring Room, and in front of him was a small box about the size of a shoebox.
Inside the box, a little toy figure was floating in midair. Zhang Bei gave it a light tap.
The entire figure immediately flew off in another direction.
“System, begin!”
[Blueprints meet the requirements. Emotional Value has been deducted. Workers are being arranged to enter the site. Estimated construction time: three hours.]
The mechanical voice rang in his ears as one worker after another carried materials over and raised a black curtain not far from Morgue No. 2.
