Chapter 79

The doctor thought it over for a dozen seconds. In the end, his compassion as a physician won out, and he climbed down from the side.

After getting Liu Yu onto the gurney, the doctor caught a whiff of the formalin around him and felt a chill run down his spine.

The dolls Zhang Bei made were all incredibly lifelike. Only that way would the effect through the glasses be even better.

But that made the doctor suffer. He moved with extreme caution, climbing up along the side.

With the realistic dolls and the melodious piano music drifting by his ears, even without the glasses on, he felt his hands and feet go cold.

Only after he made it all the way to the Employee Passage, where the thick walls cut off the music, did the doctor finally let out a breath.

Looking at the visitor on the gurney, he could only give a wry smile.

It was already a miracle that anyone had lasted this long in that passage.

So far, Liu Yu was the person who had made it the farthest through the passage.

He had been just a little short of reaching the end.

Zhang Bei felt a little regretful too. It looked like the reward for the Underground Maze would take a while before it could be issued.

Time passed before he knew it, and soon a tour guide holding a little flag caught Zhang Bei’s attention.

“Haven’t seen you in a long time!”

The person Zhang Bei spotted was none other than Guide Qu, who had led the very first tour group to the Amusement Park.

After coming a few times, the tour leader had been replaced by other people, and Zhang Bei hadn’t seen him in quite a while.

“I was transferred at work recently. I just got back!”

After explaining why he had disappeared, the guide turned to look at the Amusement Park, which was growing more popular by the day.

“You’ve added quite a few new attractions, huh?”

“Want to give them a try?”

The guide glanced at his group, which had already split off toward different facilities, then nodded.

“What’s that one?”

Zhang Bei followed the direction of his finger and looked over. It was the original attraction, the Destiny Ejection Chair.

“If you’re curious, go try it. This one doesn’t take long.”

“All right, I’ll go line up!”

Guide Qu didn’t hesitate. There had been too many changes at his company lately, and far too much to deal with.

Now that he had finally been transferred back to Dingyang City, he could at last relax a little.

Following the line, the guide soon sat down in the chair.

Looking up at the maze of crisscrossing tracks above his head, he couldn’t help tucking his neck in.

Still, with his experience on the Drop Tower, the guide wasn’t too worried.

Although he hadn’t been here in a long time, he had been through his share of torment before.

Soon, with a burst of music, the Destiny Ejection Chair started up.

Before the guide could even get ready, his entire body shot straight into the sky.

“I-I-I, fuuuck!”

Two simple words, and the gale stretched them out so badly he couldn’t get them out for ages.

In less than a second, he had instantly climbed a hundred meters into the air.

The immense centrifugal force made the guide’s heart temporarily forget how to beat.

His hands gripping the safety belt had turned white, and his whole body was stiff.

Who the hell could have imagined this thing was faster than a high-speed train?

Just imagine sitting on top of a high-speed train, and the whole train instantly accelerating to maximum speed.

In that moment, the guide completely gave up on thinking. He stared blankly at the scenery flashing past at terrifying speed.

But that state didn’t last long. After just a few seconds, the chair entered the destiny phase, and the guide’s eyes filled with bloodshot veins.

“Slow, slow, slow down!”

The nitrogen boosters behind him blasted forward like mad, and the violent wind hammered against his face.

But the guide didn’t dare close his eyes at all. Who knew what might appear up ahead?

The nitrogen acceleration gradually stopped. Before the guide could breathe a sigh of relief, the track ahead appeared in his field of vision.

“Holy shit, no, don’t, stop, stop right now!”

In the guide’s eyes, what lay ahead was clearly a broken section of track!
But language, clearly, could not stop the chair from moving.

At its terrifying speed, the chair shot into the sky in the blink of an eye.

A current of hot air appeared beneath it, carrying it forward in a glide without losing momentum.

The tour guide, however, no longer had the mental bandwidth to care about any of that. The chair stayed true to the Amusement Park’s usual style.

There was only one locked safety belt, and not a single armrest.

Even if you went skydiving, at least you got a parachute. Here, suspended all alone in midair, there was absolutely nothing.

Tears were already glistening in the corners of the tour guide’s eyes. He thought of his mischievous son, who spent every day getting into trouble.

He thought of the secret stash of money he had hidden in a shoebox.

He thought of his first love, who was now married with children.

Dragged along by the force of the hot air, the Ejection Chair returned to the track.

Only then did the tour guide finally manage to drag his consciousness back into his body.

But before he could even breathe a sigh of relief, the nitrogen thrust struck again. This time, the track was even more curved, forming a semicircle.

The chair was like a skateboard under acceleration, charging straight up to an even greater height.

The tour guide could no longer withstand the sudden thrill. His eyes rolled back, and he simply passed out.

In the last corner of his mind, only one sentence remained.

“The boss must be afraid I won’t shatter into enough pieces when I fall.”

The ten-minute experience ended, and Professor Yao pushed his little cart over.

“Well, well. This batch of visitors has improved!”

On the ground, about ten percent of them could still barely hold on to their chairs. Another twenty percent were kneeling on the ground. The rest were all unconscious visitors.

For a very long time, the Roller Coaster had held the highest fainting rate in the Amusement Park.

However, as time passed, that rate had gradually dropped from eighty percent to around fifty percent.

But ever since the Destiny Ejection Chair appeared, its fainting rate had stayed above ninety percent for the first few days.

As a doctor, Professor Yao was still very concerned about the visitors’ safety.

He had been keeping records of this data all along, so the fact that so many visitors in this group had not passed out really did represent progress.

He opened several boxes of Suxiao Jiuxin Wan and handed a few pills to Zhang Bei.

“Give me a hand. Those people lying over there.”

Zhang Bei took the Suxiao Jiuxin Wan, strode forward, and stuffed them into their mouths one by one.

Professor Yao also checked on the few who needed special attention.

“Where did Doctor Wang go?”

Professor Yao spent most of his time near the Drop Tower and the Roller Coaster.

This side, along with the Maze, was usually handled by the doctor. He had only come over to help because he had not seen the doctor after finishing with the previous group of visitors.

Zhang Bei frowned as well. Given the doctor’s speed, he should have come out of the Underground Maze by now no matter what.

It had already been fifteen minutes since he went in.

After thinking for a moment, Zhang Bei took out his walkie-talkie and pressed the talk button.

“Doctor, you’re still not out?”

Doctor Wang’s voice soon came through the walkie-talkie. “Boss, come to Zone E3. Something’s happened here.”

Hearing the heaviness in Doctor Wang’s voice, Zhang Bei quickly headed toward the Underground Maze.

He followed the Employee Passage all the way in and soon arrived at Zone E3.

This place could be considered a high-difficulty passage, and it was also Doctor Wang’s main area of activity.

The moment he pushed open the hidden door, the scene before him genuinely made Zhang Bei freeze for a second.

A young girl wearing glasses was sprinting for her life up ahead.

Doctor Wang was pushing his cart close behind, chasing her. The two of them were circling around a pillar, darting back and forth.

Fortunately, there were no visitors on the cart. Otherwise, Doctor Wang would have jolted them awake ages ago.

“What are you two doing?”

The moment Zhang Bei spoke, the young girl instantly let out a scream.
