Chapter 249
Chapter 249
Boss Xiang had long known there was an undercover agent in his territory.
But as far as he was concerned, having a mole around was a good thing.
At the very least, when the police finally closed the net, none of the criminals would slip through because of some mistake on his part.
He had even cleared out the men planted in his organization by other drug traffickers, all to make Nangong Guo’s investigation go more smoothly.
He had spent twenty years laying the groundwork. If it wasn’t to take down most of the drug traffickers in one fell swoop, why wouldn’t he have simply gone abroad and lived out his days in comfort?
Only while he remained in the country would those cautious little rats dare to work with him and give him the chance to gather evidence.
Boss Xiang stubbed out his cigarette. “Before I go, can you let me play one game? I’ve been losing with Yasuo all day.”
Nangong Guo lowered his gun and nodded.
“All right.”
Boss Xiang grinned like a child. Rubbing his hands together, he grabbed the mouse and launched the game.
“How many people are you taking down this time?”
“Over a hundred. We’re leaving a few in play to catch some bigger fish.”
“What about the lead in Haikou? Did you find it?”
“We did. Someone’s already following it.”
The two chatted pleasantly, trading questions and answers.
Unfortunately, Boss Xiang still didn’t manage to win.
He looked at his 0-13-0 score, then silently typed a single message to his jungler: Noob.
“Let’s go.”
Nangong Guo gave Boss Xiang a long, searching look.
He had trafficked drugs for twenty years. No matter how much good he had done, it wouldn’t be enough to save him.
A death sentence was all but inevitable.
“You’ve made arrangements for Xiang Mei, right?”
Boss Xiang immediately smiled. “Of course. She’s already been sent abroad.”
Nangong Guo didn’t put him in handcuffs. He didn’t even draw his gun again.
He simply escorted him toward the police car.
“By the way, don’t use that butler as an undercover agent again. His tradecraft is terrible.”
“What?”
Boss Xiang curled his lip. “If I hadn’t kept him by my side, he’d have died more times than I can count.”
Nangong Guo fell silent for a moment. “Thank you.”
When they reached the police car, Boss Xiang stopped.
“Do me a favor. If you get the chance, could you arrange for me to have a computer? I want to play games.”
“I’ll do my best.”
The police car sped away with its siren wailing, and Nangong Guo let out a long sigh.
Before coming here, he had been certain there would be a brutal fight today.
He had even prepared himself to die.
Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined that the infamous Boss Xiang, the man whose name struck fear into countless hearts, would be so terrible at Yasuo.
Still weighed down by emotion, Nangong Guo glanced at his younger brother approaching from a distance and finally smiled.
Thankfully, it was all over.
He had finally returned to his unit, and he was reunited with his brother.
“Feeling down?”
“Yeah.”
“Understandable. He is your father-in-law, after all.”
“Screw you!”
Nangong Zhi checked the time. “Come on. I’ll take you to lunch.”
“Where?”
“The Amusement Park!”
The pain carved deep into Nangong Guo’s memories immediately resurfaced.
But at the thought of the Amusement Park, Nangong Guo glanced at his younger brother.
How could he possibly enjoy something this wonderful without letting his brother experience it too?
Just imagining his brother’s face crumbling filled him with anticipation.
Nangong Zhi was thinking much the same thing.
He couldn’t wait for his brother to experience what they all went through once every month.
The brothers appeared perfectly cordial on the surface, but each was secretly plotting against the other.
The moment they walked through the gates of the Amusement Park, Zhang Bei’s gaze locked onto them.
He couldn’t help it. Anyone capable of posing a threat to him naturally warranted special attention.
When he realized they were familiar faces, he immediately smiled.
“It isn’t time for your monthly visit yet, is it?”
Nangong Zhi nodded. “My brother just finished a mission, so I brought him here to unwind and grab some lunch while we’re at it.”
Zhang Bei’s eyes gleamed with amusement.
Sure enough, the two brothers were destined to turn on each other eventually.
The only question was whether they would fight over the family fortune or a woman.
“Go have fun. Good luck!”
Nangong Zhi gave Boss Zhang a puzzled look, utterly failing to grasp the deeper meaning behind his words.
“I will!”
The brothers continued onward and soon reached the center of the Amusement Park.
Nangong Zhi was naturally delighted to see his older brother again after so long.
“What do you want to ride?”
Nangong Guo cast his younger brother a wary glance.
It wasn’t as if he didn’t know what kind of place this was. His little brother was still too green to set him up!
“How about the Hot Air Balloon? We can relax and enjoy the view.”
“Sure. I’ll buy the tickets!”
As Nangong Guo watched his brother walk away, he couldn’t hide the smile in his eyes.
This was what you called: I know you know, but you don’t know whether I know.
Interesting!
The final morning run of the Hot Air Balloon carried the two brothers into the sky.
Nangong Zhi had only just torn his gaze away from the distant scenery when he saw a length of rope in his brother’s hand.
He traced the rope to its other end.
No mistake about it. That was his rope!
Huh?
This wasn’t how the script was supposed to go!
“Hey, little brother. Do you know what this thing does?”
Cold sweat broke out across Nangong Zhi’s forehead.
“Bro, put down the rope. Just listen to me…”
“I don’t know what it does either, but there’s no harm in trying, right?”
As the older brother, Nangong Guo naturally had to shower his little brother with care.
And so, that familiar sensation of plummeting struck once again.
Nangong Zhi returned to his seat with a deathly pale face.
“Bro, put down the rope! We can talk this out!”
“Goddammit! I practically raised you from diapers, and this is how you screw me over?”
The moment he finished speaking, Nangong Zhi was sent soaring through the air once more.
“Bro, don’t!”
“Screw you! You were only born a little while before me!”
“Oh? Still not convinced?”
The instant Nangong Zhi returned to his seat, he moved like lightning and snatched Nangong Guo’s rope.
The other eighteen passengers were then treated to a truly spectacular show.
“From the way they’re talking, are those two brothers?”
“They look so much alike. They have to be biological brothers!”
When will this endless cycle of vengeance end? Not until someone passes out.

In the end, Nangong Guo was no match for Nangong Zhi, who came here every month.
After a full thirty-five minutes of mutual slaughter, the battle, a thousand wounds inflicted and a thousand suffered, ended for the time being with the younger brother’s victory.
Professor Wei came over pushing a cart. He looked at the unconscious Nangong Guo on the Hot Air Balloon, then at Nangong Zhi, who was grinning like an idiot, and couldn’t help feeling a flicker of concern.
Did these two have some kind of grudge?
After quickly examining him, Professor Wei sent the unconscious visitor to the Morgue.
Werewolf was still calling his name. Whatever grudge those two had, nothing could delay the joy of staking out Werewolf!
As a highly vigilant undercover agent, Nangong Guo regained consciousness before long.
He looked at his smiling brother beside him, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
“It’s not lunchtime yet, is it?”
“Not yet!”
“Then let’s go on one more ride. I think that Giant Swing looks pretty good!”
Nangong Zhi showed no fear. If it would help his brother relax, he was willing to risk life and limb to keep him company!
