Chapter 172
Chapter 172
Seeing that Little Cao had understood what he meant, Zhang Bei nodded in satisfaction.
This kid was going places!
After handing the large box of workbooks over to an employee, Zhang Bei returned to the entrance of the water park, looking extremely pleased with himself.
Behind him, countless children glared at him as if they wanted to eat him alive.
He had barely sat down when his phone rang.
Heizi’s voice sounded unusually grave. “I’m almost at the Amusement Park. Something’s come up.”
Zhang Bei narrowed his eyes. “What happened?”
“We’ve got a bit of trouble. I’ll explain when I get there.”
As the call ended, Zhang Bei’s expression grew solemn.
He could tell that Heizi had definitely run into trouble.
And it wasn’t the sort of trouble money could solve.
Before long, Heizi came hurrying over to Zhang Bei.
“Find somewhere quiet.”
Zhang Bei nodded and led him into the Monitoring Room.
“What happened?”
Heizi locked the door and sighed.
“It’s the island again. Our security team has spotted quite a few submarines conducting reconnaissance recently.”
Zhang Bei’s expression immediately turned serious.
There had never been any issues with keeping the research confidential.
But that didn’t mean certain people couldn’t uncover information about it.
Clearly, whoever was behind this was after the research files.
“The security company can’t handle it?”
“The gap in firepower is too great. Our defense system can’t intercept mini-missiles.”
Zhang Bei tapped his fingers against the table. “Could we build a defensive network around the Electromagnetic Cannon?”
Heizi’s eyes lit up. “You have one?”
“Yeah. Large and small models. I can even make infantry versions.”
The principle behind an infantry electromagnetic rifle wasn’t particularly complicated. Its greatest limitation was its power source.
However, the System already offered highly efficient batteries with twenty times the performance of modern lithium batteries.
Heizi thought for a moment. “If that’s the case, we wouldn’t have to stop at a defensive network. We could create our own mercenary force.”
Zhang Bei’s hand froze. “You’re serious?”
Heizi’s eyes shone with excitement. “We’re talking about the arms business!”
Zhang Bei scratched his head as he looked at Heizi’s eager expression.
“This isn’t something you can just talk about! One wrong move and we’ll end up on a terrorist organization watchlist!”
The greedy gleam in Heizi’s eyes only intensified.
“Bro! My dear bro! You’re like my own brother! With enough firepower, taking down Blackwater wouldn’t be just a dream!”
“No. Forget it.”
Heizi considered this for a moment, then broke into a broad smile.
“Your current technology isn’t even some epoch-defining invention, yet it’s already attracted submarines. Imagine what’ll happen in the future…”
Zhang Bei gritted his teeth. “We still can’t get involved in arms dealing!”
“We won’t sell weapons. We’ll only equip our own security company!”
After hearing Heizi’s promise, Zhang Bei let out a long sigh.
“I’ll give you the technical files. Go to Guan Guo about the production line.”
“You got it!”
As Zhang Bei watched Heizi leave, his heart filled with worry.
If they ended up on some “terror…ist” watchlist, tricking foreigners in the future wouldn’t be nearly as easy!
Still, a powerful security company?
The thought sent a surge of excitement through Zhang Bei.
Once the island’s security issues were resolved, perhaps using those two technologies to create a complete ecosystem wouldn’t be impossible!
His heart burned with anticipation, but the moment he saw the prices in the System, it instantly went cold.
Forget it. He should focus on saving up Emotional Value first.
While he was lost in thought, Qingqing’s voice came from outside the door.
“Boss, Boss! Why isn’t the Swimming Pool open yet?”
Zhang Bei opened the door and looked at the Little Dark Girl standing outside.
“Give it another couple of days. It’s illegal to operate without lifeguards.”
“Huh?”
“I’ve already found some. They’re retired athletes too.”
Zhang Bei had indeed hired two retired athletes to oversee the Swimming Pool.
Naturally, they had come from the Athlete Management Center in Dingyang City.
One man and one woman, minimizing the chances of any potential issues.
The Little Dark Girl stopped pestering Zhang Bei and ran off to spread the news.
Now that he had some free time, Zhang Bei began drawing up plans for the island.
Meanwhile, a group of guests arrived at the gates of the Amusement Park.
Ah Bo led the film crew in front.
“Director Naha, could you give me a few more lines in your next script?”
“Of course, of course!”
The bald Director smiled broadly.
It was their first day after wrapping production. On Ah Bo’s enthusiastic recommendation, everyone had unanimously agreed to come to the Amusement Park and relax.
The large group made its way to the Ejection Chair.
With a grin on his face, Ah Bo positioned himself to block the doctor’s cart from view.
Everyone was too busy chatting to notice what he was doing.
Soon, it was their turn. Ah Bo watched as every last one of them strapped themselves into the chairs.
“Aren’t you coming?”
“Nah. I’m afraid of heights!”
The Director looked at Ah Bo’s grin and felt an ominous premonition.
Still, they were here to relax, so he didn’t ask to get off.
The instant the safety harness locked into place, before the Director could even speak, the chair shot him into the sky.
Feeling it accelerate faster and faster, the Director’s eyes bulged.
What the fuck, Ah Bo?!
All I did was cut a few of your lines!
Was this revenge?
Were you trying to kill me?!
“Fuck! I’ll make you the male lead! Just let me down!”
The Director’s anguished screams brought a sleazy grin to Ah Bo’s face.
This was awesome!
This was the right way to enjoy the Amusement Park!
By now, the Director was on the verge of tears.
Slow down!
It was too fast! He couldn’t take it!
No, seriously-this was way too fast!
The Director’s screams had no effect whatsoever. The chair only accelerated faster and faster.
Finally, after one last bloodcurdling howl, the chair launched the bald Director straight into the sky.
The scenery was breathtaking, but the Director was in no mood to enjoy it.
He pressed himself against the chair, not daring to move a muscle.
Who knew if one wrong move would send him plummeting to the ground?!
The chair flew through the sky for a full two minutes, and the Director endured two solid minutes of overwhelming psychological torment.
When the chair landed back on the track, his entire body finally relaxed.
Before he could even breathe a sigh of relief, another powerful force struck.
The chair accelerated again.
The Director cast a despairing look toward the ground.
“Ah Bo, just you wait!”
After that final anguished cry, he fell completely silent.
Twenty minutes later, the entire film crew woke up in the Morgue.
The Director touched his bald head. Though he was already in his forties, he burst into tears.
Alive!
He was still alive!
He was actually still alive!
Ah Bo sat nearby with a drink in his hand, his heart overflowing with joy.
This was awesome!
What an incredible feeling!
Even when the Director glared at him as if he wanted to eat him alive, Ah Bo wasn’t afraid in the slightest.
“Wahahahaha! Exciting, wasn’t it?”
The Director gritted his teeth. “It certainly was!”
“There’s a Hot Air Balloon over yonder for sightseeing. Wanna give it a try?”
“No!”
“I’ll go up with ya! We’ll ride together!”
“Hm?”
“Really. I’ll sit right next to you!”
