Chapter 121
Chapter 121
A sudden scream beside him snapped Wendell back to his senses.
He looked toward the sound.
One glance, and his scalp went numb.
The Roller Coaster had reached the top of a hundred-meter slope.
It was swaying as it came to a stop up there.
“Oh, no!”
A bleak cry rang out, and the Roller Coaster instantly launched into a high-speed dive.
The violent wind slapped against his face. Sitting in the very first row, Wendell could clearly see the broken track ahead.
Before his brain could even send a warning signal, the Roller Coaster had already shot past the break.
Do you believe in the light?
Whether you do or not, Wendell believed in it at that moment.
God was glowing with a soft white radiance, reaching a hand out toward him.
But that hazy vision vanished in an instant. The moment his soul snapped back into place, his body and the Roller Coaster were hanging upside down in midair.
Staring at the distant ground, Wendell’s pupils constricted.
“Please, don’t break. Please, whatever you do, don’t break!”
His pleading did absolutely nothing. The entire Roller Coaster gave a sharp crack and instantly snapped apart.
“Aaaaaah!”
The scream bottled up in his throat erupted all at once, but then a pulling force dragged the Roller Coaster back onto the track.
Wendell panted heavily as he remembered something the Little Translator had said.
“Thirty minutes. You have to experience it with your heart!”
Huh?
Thirty minutes?
How long had it been now?
A little over ten minutes, maybe?
Feeling the half-missing Roller Coaster getting faster and faster, Wendell simply rolled his eyes back and passed out again.
One hour after entering the amusement park, Wendell had successfully fainted twice.
Compared with Brother Chao last time, he seemed to have broken quite the impressive record.
When the Roller Coaster finally ended, the doctor rushed over at full speed with a medical kit in hand.
The wheels of the cart behind him were practically smoking.
If this foreigner couldn’t handle excitement, why the hell was he riding the Roller Coaster?
The doctor quickly found the blond-haired, blue-eyed Wendell and stuffed a heart-saving pill into his mouth.
Who said foreigners had strong nerves?
This was it?
If he rode the Hot Air Balloon with that cursed teammate even once, wouldn’t he go straight to meet God?
Little Cao followed behind the doctor and watched as Wendell was laid back down on the wooden plank bed.
A familiar place. A familiar feeling.
When Wendell woke up, all he felt was a bitter taste in his mouth.
“Did I pass out again?”
Little Cao nodded. “It wasn’t too bad. You were only out for less than twenty minutes.”
Wendell had just woken up, and his mind was still a little foggy.
He glanced at the line of people not far away. How did I pass out again?
Why did it feel like he had seen something incredible on the Roller Coaster this time?
Little Cao checked the time. “Rest for a bit first. Then we can go to the Ski Resort.”
Wendell nodded and collapsed back onto the wooden plank bed to rest.
Since he had forgotten what happened, he might as well not think about it.
Maybe that memory would pop back up on its own someday.
After a little over ten minutes, strength returned to Wendell’s legs.
With Little Cao leading the way, they arrived at the Ski Resort.
“Hello, may I ask if you have any skiing experience?”
Wendell more or less caught a few words, but since he had an interpreter anyway, there was no need to strain himself figuring out what they meant.
“This lady is asking if you’ve skied before!”
Wendell quickly nodded. “I have! I have!”
Little Cao smiled at You Bai. “He knows how to ski!”
You Bai glanced at Little Cao, nodded, and handed over the protective gear in her hands.
“Have a good time!”
Wendell understood that much. “Thankies!”
After taking the protective gear, Wendell stood off to the side and started putting it on.
Little Cao glanced at the sign that read: No Use for Anyone Under Eighteen. He silently sighed.
“I’ll wait for you at the bottom!”
Wendell waved a hand. “Don’t worry. I’m familiar with this sport!”
Little Cao shrugged and headed down along Xiao Lu, the side path.
Once Wendell had his gear on, he chose a snowboard and stepped onto the slope.
He snapped his goggles into place, bent his knees, and slid downhill.
After sleeping away half the morning, Wendell was brimming with energy.
In the blink of an eye, he launched off the snow and pulled a 360 in midair.
The board had only just touched down when a beastly roar sounded beside his ear.
Wendell whipped his head around, and their eyes met.
If meeting again couldn’t make you blush, did it have to make your eyes go red?
Who the hell wanted to meet this thing again?!
A polar bear that was clearly starving charged straight at him.
That vicious face, those exposed fangs-Wendell had no doubt whatsoever that this thing could tear him to shreds.
Years of snowboarding technique flashed through his mind. In that instant, he erupted with an unimaginable burst of strength.
You Bai was training her speed down the slope when she saw someone shoot past her.
In that very moment, her fighting spirit was ignited.
She hadn’t expected this place to be hiding such talent. This foreigner was actually that good!
She immediately controlled her board and chased after Wendell.
The two of them raced one ahead of the other. When You Bai realized the distance between them wasn’t shrinking at all, she gradually grew serious without even noticing it.
In Wendell’s line of sight, a huge horizontal log blocked the path ahead.
Listening to the sounds closing in behind him, he didn’t dare slow down in the slightest.
He took a deep breath, controlled his board, and sprang into the air in an instant.
A 720-degree spin in midair!
Maximum difficulty score!
Even Wendell hadn’t expected his abilities to advance under life-or-death pressure.
But right now, he had no room in his heart for joy.
There was still a bear behind him. Anyone would have a hard time feeling happy right now!
Behind him, You Bai watched the foreigner’s move with a grave expression.
He was a formidable opponent!
Even she couldn’t guarantee she’d land a move like that every time. She hadn’t expected him to pull it off so easily!
Her heart beat powerfully, and You Bai picked up even more speed.
When Wendell heard the sounds behind him drawing closer, this six-foot-tall hulk of a man was on the verge of tears.
In desperation, inspiration struck.
He quickly changed direction and slid onto another slope.
There should be more people on this slope. Once there were more people around, the bear would probably give up!
Two figures tore across the Ski Resort at high speed. When Wendell finally saw a figure up ahead, his taut nerves loosened slightly at last.
“Help!”
Hearing his voice, the figure slowly turned its head.
At that moment, Wendell’s heart filled with regret.
Why had he changed direction?
Wouldn’t it have been better to go play on the crowded Sleds side?
What stood ahead was no person at all. It was clearly a hideous, savage ghost!
Its face was a bloody mess, its body rotten and decayed, and it was holding a corpse in its arms as it gnawed away.
Under that massive mental shock, combined with the sound behind him drawing ever closer, Wendell simply collapsed and fainted.
Seeing that something had gone wrong, You Bai also slowed down.
Only after she got close did she realize that the man, still wearing his goggles, had already passed out.
Her gaze moved to the mascot costume not far away. She silently sighed and took out her phone.
“Hello? I’m on break and don’t have my walkie-talkie. Notify the doctor for me. Someone fainted.”
