Chapter 70
Chapter 70
This time, Zhang Bei stood to the side to watch as well.
Once they finished this attraction, their trip to the Amusement Park would effectively be over. As the owner, he had to come out to see the guests off.
To Zhang Bei’s surprise, although these people kept saying they didn’t want to do it, they were performing with extraordinary tenacity.
Everyone was bracing themselves, using every ounce of willpower to resist the dizziness clouding their brains.
The Ejection Chairs were positioned on different tracks, so no one knew if they could make it into the top three.
Because of this, everyone was giving it their absolute all.
While the show’s challenges were notoriously punishing, the promised feast never disappointed.
The Ejection Chair round soon came to an end, and the Director announced the results based on the footage from the Monitor.
Unexpectedly, first place went to Baby.
Second place went to Chen Chichi, who lived up to everyone’s expectations.
Third place went to Brother Chao, who beat out the Big Black Bull by a narrow margin of just one second.
The Director signaled the Black-Clad Men to carry the members of the Running Group away. “Boss Zhang, we’re heading out!”
“Goodbye!”
“I have a feeling this episode is going to be a massive hit!”
Watching the Director depart, Zhang Bei stretched his limbs.
The arrival of the Program Team had given Zhang Bei a few ideas.
He stood there in deep thought for a moment. “Li Yang, I remember we still have a lot of those cards we made last time, right?”
“There are over a hundred left. They’re all at my place.”
Zhang Bei looked at the Ejection Chairs before him and smiled.
“Take fifty of them and place them inside different facilities. Mark them with numbers from one to ten.”
Li Yang committed this to memory. “Are we running an event?”
“Yes. If someone collects a full set of numbers from one to ten, they get a prize.”
Li Yang scratched his head. “Got it, I’ll go arrange it right away!”
Happy times flew by, and the Amusement Park soon saw off the last batch of tourists.
This time, Zhang Bei didn’t wait around at the park. Instead, he drove over to the Laboratory.
Just as he pushed open the main doors, Guan Guo’s irritable voice rang out.
“Why hasn’t Experiment No. 3 been screwed together? What are you people even good for!”
The angry roar echoed for a full two minutes before finally subsiding.
Zhang Bei pulled his head back instinctively before finally stepping inside.
The entire Laboratory looked like a Toy House, with the floor covered in all sorts of toy cars.
Guan Guo was holding a remote control, managing a toy car that was constantly accelerating.
“Boss, you’re here!”
Zhang Bei nodded, looking curiously at the wobbling toy car.
“What are you working on?”
Guan Guo dropped the remote and sighed.
“A Hot Air-Powered Car. These are all models.”
The Air-Powered Device technology had long since matured in Guan Guo’s hands.
By now, it was possible to miniaturize it.
Because of this, Guan Guo had come up with a new idea.
In terms of volume, an Air-Powered Device was roughly the same size as an engine.
If it were used as a power unit, could it produce the same effects as a traditional engine?
As a rigorous researcher, Guan Guo had quickly built these scaled-down models for testing.
Although the speed of the remote-controlled cars was still in the early stages, they could at least run now.
Zhang Bei rubbed his chin. A car?
If this thing was actually developed, it might turn into quite a challenge.
Just as he was thinking about how to help Guan Guo, his phone suddenly rang.
“Hello?”
Professor Li’s voice came from the other end. “I’ll be at the Laboratory in a bit to take a look at your Air-Powered Device.”
Hearing the voice on the phone, Zhang Bei’s face stiffened.
Well, he was screwed!
Professor Li had specifically requested to be the first person to witness the finished product.
Now that the Destiny Ejection Chair had been played with for several days, it would be a real problem if the professor found out. Getting a scolding was a minor issue; the real trouble would be if the professor stopped introducing talented people to him in the future.
Professor Li’s car arrived outside the Laboratory shortly after. Zhang Bei used this time to come up with a countermeasure.
“How is your research on the Air-Powered Device coming along?”
Zhang Bei stepped forward quickly, cutting off Guan Guo just as he was about to speak.
“It’s not finished yet. We’ve only just reached the car model stage.”
“The what?”
Professor Li was stunned by Zhang Bei’s words.
Wasn’t it an Air-Powered Device? Wasn’t that thing supposed to be for the sky? How did it turn into a car model?
Guan Guo looked at his boss with a hint of confusion before speaking up to explain.
“The miniaturization of the Air-Powered Device is already perfect. I plan to install it in a car to replace the engine.”
Hearing Guan Guo’s explanation, Professor Li took a sharp breath.
According to that logic, the Air-Powered Device itself should have been completed long ago. Right now, they were simply testing an application scenario.
“This is the model?”
Professor Li looked at the toy cars scattered on the floor with an unfriendly gaze.
Guan Guo nodded and handed over a remote control.
“This is the one with the highest hope of success so far.”
Professor Li pushed the control with one hand, and a grey sedan instantly shot forward. While the speed wasn’t exactly fast, the overall operation was visibly smooth.
Professor Li narrowed his eyes. “How’s the power consumption?”
Guan Guo glanced at the data in his hand. “It’s one-fifth of current electric vehicles, and the range is much stronger.”
Professor Li fell silent upon hearing this.
Although the toy car’s speed was only thirty to fifty kilometers per hour, the speed could easily be increased as long as the power output was adjusted. If this kind of energy efficiency could really be applied to actual cars, it would likely trigger an industry-wide earthquake.
Zhang Bei stood to the side and breathed a sigh of relief. The professor was so shocked by the toy car that he seemed to have forgotten that Zhang Bei hadn’t informed him immediately.
However, looking at the toy cars on the ground, Zhang Bei also felt a bit of a headache.
He certainly didn’t have the time to handle this, and Guan Guo definitely didn’t understand business matters.
Zhang Bei was still pondering this problem even after Professor Li left.
Coincidentally, his phone rang at that moment.
“Bei-ge, you had celebrities visit the Amusement Park and you didn’t even call me!”
Heizi’s voice, filled with grief, came through the phone.
Zhang Bei’s eyes suddenly lit up.
“Heizi, I remember your family has a manufacturing business, right?”
“Uh, yeah, we have a few, but those are just for strategic layout.”
After saying that, Heizi finally reacted. “Don’t try to change the subject! Tell me why you didn’t call me!”
Zhang Bei rubbed his chin and laughed. “Come to the Laboratory. I’ve got serious business for you.”
Heizi sighed. Given their years of friendship, he knew Zhang Bei wasn’t joking.
“I’ll be there in a bit!”
It took only ten minutes for Heizi’s sports car to pull up to the Laboratory entrance. He skillfully entered the passcode and opened the door.
“What’s up? Why has Your Majesty been summoned?”
Zhang Bei narrowed his eyes and handed over the remote control.
“Play with this first.”
Heizi operated it with one hand. Watching the toy car zip across the floor, his lip twitched.
“You’re not planning to start manufacturing toy cars, are you?”
