Chapter 197
Chapter 197
Besides, the floor of the Swimming Pool was covered in water.
As expected, Digua landed right in it.
“Woof?”
His tiny eyes were filled with enormous confusion.
But a moment later, that confusion turned to terror.
Two enormous crocodiles were closing in on his plump body.
Dog paddling was supposed to be a slow, leisurely way to swim.
But at that moment, Digua unleashed incredible power.
His four stubby legs churned so fast that they carved a white streak across the water.
Every ounce of fat on his body strained with the effort, and in mere moments, he caught up with Cha Bing ahead of him.
Cha Bing watched a white streak shoot past him, and his mind went blank.
Holy shit!
That was a dog, right? That had to be a dog, right?
Seeing that they couldn’t catch Digua, the crocodiles behind him promptly switched targets.
Cha Bing poured every last bit of strength into swimming forward as fast as he could.
As the Amusement Park’s resident dog, Digua had also learned well from Zhang Bei.
He stopped churning his four stubby legs, turned around, and swam right up in front of Cha Bing.
“Woof woof!”
“Get lost!”
“Woof woof woof!”
“Fuck you!”
Cha Bing was desperately fleeing for his life, while a dog swam beside him and enjoyed the show.
His composure shattered on the spot.
“Bleep bleep bleep bleep!”
“Woof woof!”
“Bleep bleep bleep bleep!”
Despite the powerful enemies chasing them, one man and one dog somehow started cursing each other out.
Sitting at the edge of the water, Zhang Bei watched the scene in silence for a long while.
Dog-meat hot pot would probably taste pretty good, wouldn’t it?
The thought made him swallow unconsciously.
Animals were far more sensitive to killing intent than humans.
Digua, who had been busy taunting Cha Bing, suddenly stiffened. His stubby legs exploded with power once more, carrying him far away from the scene.
After sprinting for so long, Cha Bing felt as though both his arms and legs had turned to stone.
He gritted his teeth at the sight of Digua carving another white streak across the water and used his final shred of strength to chase after him.
Zhang Bei stretched, then turned to Shi Ang beside him. “I’ll leave him to you. Make sure he goes through it at least five times before you let him leave.”
“Boss, do you have a grudge against him?”
“No. Don’t talk nonsense. I’m leaving!”
With that, Zhang Bei strode away.
Shi Ang looked at the figure struggling in the water and silently mourned him for three seconds.
Then, smiling, he dragged a chair over and settled in to enjoy the show.
After leaving the water park, Zhang Bei’s gaze settled on the Human Cannon nearby.
The attraction had been open for quite some time now.
Ever since Little Cao had started his business there, it had been packed every weekend.
However, the amount of Emotional Value it brought in had dropped sharply.
These kids could now ride it once without so much as a flicker of emotion!
That wouldn’t do!
After a brief moment of thought, Zhang Bei walked straight into the Monitoring Room, picked up a pencil and a sheet of blank paper, and began sketching.
Time passed. After delivering a visitor to the Morgue, the doctor gave his bicep a squeeze.
This job was getting tougher by the day.
Once, he had been a slender man who wielded a scalpel.
Now he was built like a tank and could lift a burly man with one hand without breaking a sweat.
When had his life taken this turn?
“Um, Doctor, could you come to the Swimming Pool? Someone passed out.”
The voice from his radio snapped the doctor back to reality.
The Swimming Pool?
Wait, how could anyone pass out there?
He had personally inspected the place!
There were no ghosts and no zombies. How did someone still manage to faint?
Force of habit sent the doctor grabbing a gurney and sprinting all the way to the Swimming Pool.
When he arrived, he found Shi Ang crouched on the floor, staring at the unconscious Cha Bing. Beside them, Digua was happily wagging his tail.
With a flick of one hand, the doctor sent a Suxiao Jiuxin Wan pill into his palm. With the other, he pressed a stethoscope to Cha Bing’s chest.
The entire process took less than two seconds. His practiced movements were almost heartbreaking to watch.
After completing his examination, a trace of confusion flashed through the doctor’s eyes.
He had passed out from exhaustion?
How in the world had he managed to tire himself unconscious just by swimming?
Why did this feel so familiar?
He vaguely recalled someone passing out from exhaustion at the Ski Resort too.
What was that girl’s name again?
The doctor thought for a moment, then gave up trying to remember.
He swapped the Suxiao Jiuxin Wan in his hand for a glucose tablet and stuffed it into Cha Bing’s mouth.
Then he wheeled Cha Bing over on the cart and laid him out on the beach.
The glaring sun beat down from above. Not far away, a curtain of black fabric had been erected.
The doctor’s heart clenched, and an ominous feeling welled up inside him.
“Boss!”
“What is it?”
“What did you do this time?”
“Just upgraded the Human Cannon a little. It should be ready to use this afternoon.”
The doctor stared at the area enclosed by black fabric, his eyelids twitching furiously.
“Is this upgrade of yours… normal?”
“Don’t worry. Kids can still ride it.”
Rather than reassuring him, that answer only made the doctor even more uneasy.
His boss’s way of understanding things had always been different from everyone else’s.
To be precise, anything he considered normal was definitely beyond the comprehension of ordinary people.
This upgrade wasn’t particularly complicated. He had merely tweaked the control program and added a few things.
Even the Black Tech involved was something he already had.
“Boss, we’ll be leaving now.”
A weak voice sounded nearby. Supported by his teammates, Cha Bing struggled to stand straight.
“All right. Remember to come back and have fun!”
“Goodbye!”
With that, the group hurried toward the exit of the Amusement Park on unsteady feet.
Time passed, and afternoon soon arrived.
On Fridays, elementary school students usually only had classes in the morning.
Little Cao led his money-making crew into the Amusement Park.
“Same rules as always. Whoever gets picked the most today earns a thirty-percent commission. Whoever gets picked the least only receives their base pay.”
“Yes!”
Their childish voices rang with fighting spirit.
Every child’s eyes burned with ambition.
As long as they came in first, their income would immediately double!
Under Little Cao’s wolf-culture management, the children had long since transformed into a pack of wolves.
However, the moment they reached the Human Cannon, they discovered that the attraction had been updated.
Not much had changed. There was simply an extra trampoline in what had previously been an empty clearing.
Little Cao frowned. Change could be both good and bad.
The upside was that it could attract more visitors. The downside was that anything beyond his control could potentially cause financial losses.
Well versed in both management and economics, Little Cao quickly made his decision.
“Open for business!”
The children stood in a row and quietly waited for customers to arrive.
“Oh, you’re here!”
Little Cao looked up at the figure before him. It was a regular customer!
“Want a turn?”
“The price hasn’t gone up, has it?”
“Same as last time. Still fifteen.”
“Then I’ll take Little Fatty.”
The plump boy was led away, and Little Cao’s business gradually began booming.
Before long, Little Cao was the only one left.
A young woman looked around. “Huh? There aren’t any girls left?”
“The girls won’t be back until the next round. You can choose me too!”
The young woman studied Little Cao for a moment before finally nodding. “All right!”
She scanned the payment code and paid, then took Little Cao by the hand and headed toward the Human Cannon.
