Chapter 190
Chapter 190
Shi Ang lasted less than three laps before passing out.
Just as his eyes closed, he could have sworn he heard Li Yang’s unrestrained laughter ringing in his ears.
Twenty minutes later, Shi Ang’s tightly shut eyes snapped open.
The first thing he saw was Li Yang’s smiling face.
“Feeling better?”
Shi Ang gritted his teeth and said nothing.
He was only letting this slide because his body was still weak. Otherwise, he would definitely show this punk what a sandbag-sized fist felt like!
Cong Hongdou forced herself to sit upright.
“Now that we’re done with the experience, can we get to work?”
“Nope. The boss said every employee has to try at least three attractions. I’ll take you to the slide next.”
An employee standing nearby silently turned his head away.
They were done for. Li Yang had completely suckered them!
Their already pale faces visibly drained of even more color.
There was more?
What the hell? Was the boss hiring employees or recruiting a suicide squad?
Having finally found a source of entertainment, Li Yang gave them no chance to resist. He took one in each hand and escorted them straight toward the water park.
He had to move fast. Ideally, he would get them onto the slide before they realized what was happening!
If they went to verify this with the boss, all his fun would be over.
Three minutes later, after changing clothes, the two of them were dragged into the elevator by Li ‘Blackhearted’ Yang.
“Want to guess what this elevator is called?”
At this point, Shi Ang had already given up resisting.
Hearing Li Yang’s question, he rubbed his chin and began to think.
An elevator had a name?
By the time they reached the very top, Li Yang’s grin had grown even wider.
“The answer is: Stairway to Heaven!”
Only then did the two of them snap out of their thoughts.
They followed the elevator down with their gazes.
The vertigo from being over a hundred meters in the air made Shi Ang’s already weak legs give out completely. He collapsed straight onto the floor.
“Can I sit this one out?”
Li Yang wore an honest, guileless smile. “Oh, you should’ve said so earlier. This elevator only goes up!”
Shi Ang instantly understood what he meant.
His eyes shifted toward the slide not far away.
Clearly, there was only one way back to the ground!
Li Yang dragged out an inflatable raft. “Shall we, you two?”
Cong Hongdou patted Shi Ang on the shoulder. “The sooner we die, the sooner we can reincarnate.”
With that, she took a paddle from Li Yang and climbed directly onto the raft.
His legs trembling, Shi Ang slowly shuffled himself onto it as well.
Li Yang rolled his shoulders, then shoved them off with all his strength.
As their screams pierced the clouds, a familiar smile spread across his face.
The raft spun wildly as it shot through spiral after spiral.
Every so often, a small ramp sent it flying into the air.
Listening to their wails, Li Yang unconsciously began humming a song.
“Spinning, jumping, I close my eyes!”
After all that spinning, Shi Ang finally got to experience the jumping part.
The instant the raft passed over the Micro Electromagnetic mechanism, a tremendous force launched him straight into the sky.
That familiar view appeared once again. The sight of the entire Amusement Park spread out beneath him finally shattered Shi Ang’s composure.
“I [bleep][bleep][bleep]! I’ll [bleep][bleep][bleep] you!”
A stream of censored curses echoed across the sky.
The slide itself wasn’t very long. After enduring what felt like eighty-one trials and tribulations, Shi Ang finally saw the ground!
Mere relief could no longer describe how he felt. It was more like the joy of surviving a catastrophe.
Shi Ang sprawled out on the raft and caught his breath.
Then he watched as a four-person raft, its riders paddling furiously, sped past him.
Hm?
What was that?
Puzzled, Shi Ang turned his head.
Two gray shapes appeared before him. Their rough, knobby hides revealed exactly what they were.
Shi Ang glanced at the paddle in his hands and instantly understood why it had been provided.
His legs had gone weak, but he still had some strength left in his arms.
Looking at Cong Hongdou, who had somehow already fainted, Shi Ang put every last ounce of strength into paddling.
An athlete was an athlete, after all. In a matter of seconds, he overtook the inflatable rings of all four people ahead of him.
On the shore, Zhang Bei stared dumbfounded at the inflatable ring streaking across the water and leaving a trail of white foam behind it.
The athlete I recruited was supposed to be a swimmer, right?
Why does this look more like a dragon boat race?
By the time Shi Ang reached the shore, he was utterly spent. He collapsed onto the beach, staring blankly into space.
After thinking it over for a long moment, Zhang Bei finally walked over. “Have you ever trained in dragon boat racing?”
Shi Ang’s vacant gaze shifted to his boss. His voice trembled with exhaustion.
“The… the last… attraction… I really can’t do it anymore.”
“What last attraction?”
“Boss, weren’t you the one who said we had to try three attractions?”
“I didn’t. I never said that. Don’t make things up! I only told the employees to try one attraction!”
At those words, Li Yang’s honest, guileless smile flashed through Shi Ang’s mind.
Humiliation, sorrow, and fury surged through him all at once.
Li Yang, who had just come down the slide, was hurrying over.
Damn, why won’t my eyelid stop twitching?
A twitching left eye meant romance was on the way. A twitching right eye meant his ass was in for it.
Li Yang carefully checked and confirmed that it was his right eye twitching.
Huh?
Up ahead stood his boss with his back to him, along with a new employee lying on the ground.
Nope. I’m out of here!
But the man lying on the ground spotted his hasty retreat.
“Heh. Hehehe.”
The sinister laughter made Li Yang unconsciously pick up his pace.
Zhang Bei watched the feud unfolding between the two of them, then quietly returned to his lounge chair.
Better keep my distance. I don’t want blood splattering on me!
A pot of tea and snacks supplied by Chef Li sat on the table beside him. Zhang Bei couldn’t have been more satisfied with his sunbathing session.
Time flew by, and before long, a figure came rushing into view.
“Stop eating. You’re coming with me.”
Seeing Professor Li drenched in sweat, Zhang Bei swallowed his beef jerky and leisurely picked up a cup of tea.
“What’s wrong?”
Professor Li watched his unhurried movements, and a wave of anger instantly surged through him.
I ran all the way here in a panic, and you’re stopping to drink tea?
“Someone wants to see you. Someone you can’t refuse.”
“Hm?”
Professor Li lowered his voice and whispered a name.
Zhang Bei’s hand paused with the teacup halfway to his mouth.
“Now?”
“His flight lands in ten minutes.”
“Pfft!”
A mouthful of hot tea sprayed directly into Professor Li’s face.
Zhang Bei shot out of his lounge chair.
“Move! What are you standing around for?”
Professor Li’s already dark expression grew darker still.
Was this brat put on earth solely to make his life miserable?
The next time there was a job involving this little bastard, anyone else could take it!
There was no time left to waste. Professor Li wiped the tea from his face, grabbed Zhang Bei, and hurried toward the exit.
Outside the Amusement Park, a military-green jeep was waiting.
Zhang Bei had barely closed the door when the driver floored the accelerator and sent the jeep hurtling away.
