Chapter 45

Dish after dish of stir-fry was quickly served up by Chef Li.

A flicker of surprise flashed in Professor Yao’s eyes. He hadn’t expected this amusement park to look so modest on the outside yet have such complete internal facilities. Judging by the chef’s skill alone, there were surely more surprises here that he hadn’t discovered yet.

Over lunch, Zhang Bei and the two professors chatted happily.

Meanwhile, in a luxurious office on the other side of town.

“So you’re saying this amusement park’s profitability has already surpassed Disney’s?”

“Not yet, but based on proportional calculations, once it grows to Disney’s scale, its revenue will be ten times higher.”

The man sitting in the chair tapped the desktop with one hand.

The secretary beside him pushed up his glasses and waited for the boss’s decision.

“Who owns the land?”

The secretary didn’t even open his file. “The owner himself. Thirty years left on the property rights.”

The boss frowned slightly. “Then forget the land. What about buying it outright?”

The secretary narrowed his eyes. “The amusement park’s monthly profit is around seven hundred thousand. I recommend an acquisition budget of 5.8 million.”

He paused. “If we include the land, it should be within 23 million.”

The boss simply nodded. “Then I’ll leave it to you. I only care about results.”

“Yes, sir!”

As the secretary left, the man lowered his head over the desk again.

The real estate industry was in a cold winter, and everyone was looking for a way to break through.

Dingyang City could be considered Xinglong Real Estate’s home turf, so an Amusement Park like this naturally entered their sights.

The secretary had been at his boss’s side for nearly twenty years, and he didn’t take such a simple acquisition plan seriously at all. A young man in his twenties-so long as enough cash was piled in front of him-it would practically be taking candy from a baby.

In the afternoon, the two professors were still checking tourists’ physical conditions, while Zhang Bei sat off to the side, loafing around like a salted fish.

As closing time for the Amusement Park drew near, a secretary appeared in front of Zhang Bei.

“Hello, are you Mr. Zhang?”

“And you are?”

The man pulled out a business card with one hand.

“I’m Secretary Wang from Xinglong Real Estate. I’m here to talk to you about acquiring the amusement park.”

Zhang Bei took the card and set it aside. “Not selling. Please leave.”

Secretary Wang paused. “Mr. Zhang, our offer will definitely satisfy you!”

Zhang Bei stayed seated. “Same answer. Not selling. Please leave.”

Secretary Wang took a deep breath and opened the case beside him.

Inside was packed full of cash.

“Mr. Zhang, we’re willing to pay 23 million to buy the amusement park.”

The whole case was a solid sea of red bills, with a check placed right on top.

Hearing the number, Zhang Bei’s expression finally shifted a little.

The visual shock of that much cash laid out right in front of you was not something an ordinary person could take in stride.

Secretary Wang merely smiled. No matter how detached Zhang Bei seemed from worldly things, he was still just a young man.

But Zhang Bei was only excited for a split second before his gaze gradually settled.

“Not selling.”

That answer was clearly beyond Secretary Wang’s expectations; the smile on his face instantly froze.

“Mr. Zhang, that’s 23 million. Even the interest alone would be enough for you.”

“My expenses are high. Not enough.”

Secretary Wang’s mouth twitched. The information he had investigated was very clear-Zhang Bei’s biggest expense in his life was buying a car. His usual living expenses definitely didn’t exceed a thousand yuan.
Now that he was eating all three meals a day at the Amusement Park’s Cafeteria, his cost of living had plummeted.

Meanwhile, twenty-three million yuan sitting in the bank would generate millions in interest every year.

Seeing the resolute look in Zhang Bei’s eyes, the secretary had no choice but to pack away the suitcase.

“Boss Zhang, I apologize for the intrusion.”

Watching the secretary leave, Zhang Bei clutched his chest and slumped into his chair.

“System, my heart is bleeding. Do you know how many clothes I could have bought with that? How much good food I could have eaten? I could have bought several more houses…”

The System remained silent for a long time before finally speaking.

[Congratulations to the host for completing the Hidden Mission: Unmoved by Money.]

[Reward: One Random Draw.]

Zhang Bei hadn’t expected the System to actually respond to him.

Closing his eyes slightly, he accessed the System’s light screen.

A wheel appeared on the display, divided into various-sized slots.

As he scanned the options, Zhang Bei’s attention was instantly drawn to the smallest slot.

Space Travel Technology!

This was the most expensive item in the System’s newly opened Future Mall.

Zhang Bei rubbed his hands together in anticipation and searched the screen for the start button.

“System, where’s the start button?”

[Please prepare yourself, Host!]

The System’s voice rang in his ears, and a pale blue dart materialized, floating in front of him.

Simultaneously, the wheel on the screen began to spin rapidly.

Zhang Bei’s face darkened. “Don’t you think this is a bit redundant?”

The wheel was spinning so fast that it was impossible to track where the grand prize was.

With a silent sigh, he let the dart fly. It struck the wheel with a thud.

[Congratulations to the Host for obtaining 10,000 Emotional Value!]

Zhang Bei looked at the dart, which was lodged firmly in the largest slot on the wheel. His expression soured even further.

“Did you rig that behind the scenes?!”

The System offered no response.

He slowly opened his eyes and looked out at the amusement park.

Zhang Bei wasn’t actually upset about missing out on Space Travel Technology. Even if he had won it, he wouldn’t have known the first thing about how to utilize it.

However, the water park or the Ferris Wheel would have been decent alternatives. Instead, he had ended up with the lowest possible reward.

Twenty-three million yuan exchanged for a mere ten thousand Emotional Value.

Since the matter was settled, Zhang Bei turned his attention to his phone.

[Amusement Park Squad]

This was a WeChat group created by Li Yang. Most of the members were regulars at the amusement park.

Zhang Bei thought for a moment and began typing a message.

“With the rainy season arriving next week, the amusement park will be undergoing a renovation. I am now collecting a list of names for playtesting.”

Million-follower Influencer Qingqing: [Count me in!]

World-Famous Author: [A new project? Count me in!]

Construction Boss: [And me!]

Zhang Bei glanced at his phone and made a note of everyone who had agreed. Once the new project was built, not a single one of these people would escape.

Time flew by, and the sky over Dingyang City grew dim.

The locals knew this was the start of the annual rainy season, and everyone began preparing their umbrellas.

Zhang Bei saw off the last batch of tourists and closed the gates of the amusement park.

“Thanks for all your hard work lately, everyone. Take this upcoming week-long break to get some good rest.”

Standing beside Zhang Bei, Li Yang clicked his tongue. “Boss, are you really keeping the doors shut for a whole week?”

“I am. The rain in Dingyang City is heavy; there wouldn’t be many tourists anyway.”

“Does that mean we can go home?”

“You can. Keep your tickets and remember to come to me for reimbursement.”

“Wooo! Boss, you’re the best!”
