Chapter 123
Chapter 123
Zhang Bei smiled. “If that doesn’t work, go to the Laboratory and find Guan Guo. Have him ask Professor Li to step in.”
“Professor Li can handle something like this?”
“Trust me. Absolutely no problem!”
Heizi shoveled a mouthful of rice into his mouth. “Fine. Once the car’s sales permit comes through, I’ll have one delivered to you.”
After lunch, Heizi hurried off to the company.
Now that the new alloy had been approved for production and sale, he still had to rush around setting up the new company.
Add car production on top of that, and the fact that he could spare any time at all was already impressive.
By afternoon, the article Wendell had posted had been liked and shared by countless people.
And at that very moment, one particular person was standing at the entrance of the Amusement Park.
As a Black man, Ah Bo had successfully put down roots in this ancient country through his own relentless efforts.
He happened to be in Dingyang City recently, and after seeing the recommendation on Facebook, he had come straight over without the slightest hesitation.
But the moment he stepped into the Amusement Park, the sight before him stunned Ah Bo on the spot.
“Good Lord almighty, did everybody mutate or somethin’?”
The perfectly authentic Northeastern dialect coming out of Ah Bo’s mouth sounded completely natural.
Most of the visitors in the entire Amusement Park were gnawing on hands. Even Wendell was no exception.
Over the course of a single lunch break, he had eaten three whole hands!
Steeling himself, Ah Bo walked inside. After carefully reading the business hours, he sat down in front of the Drop Tower and waited quietly.
A few minutes later, the employees returned to their posts one after another.
Ah Bo was impatient by nature. He grabbed Li Yang the moment he walked over and started asking questions.
“Hey, brother, what in the world are they eatin’ over there?”
Hearing that string of Northeastern dialect, Li Yang nearly threw out his back.
“Simulated food. The texture’s pretty good. The main ingredients are pork and fish.”
Li Yang could be considered the person with the most authority on Braised Human Hand. Ever since the stuff had appeared, he had basically eaten one or two every day.
Ah Bo let out a breath of relief and turned his gaze toward the Drop Tower ahead.
“So, uh, can I ride this now?”
Li Yang glanced at the time. “You can!”
Ah Bo didn’t bother Li Yang any further. Instead, he turned to the employee in charge of the Drop Tower.
“Miss, get me a ticket!”
The person in charge of the Drop Tower was Li Yang’s junior schoolmate. She had originally been worried about her spoken English.
But after hearing that authentic Northeastern dialect, even her expression turned strange.
She handed him a ticket. “Here you go. Please take a seat first!”
“Thanks, miss!”
Ah Bo took the ticket, found a seat, and sat right down.
Soon, the first group of afternoon visitors on the Drop Tower filled the seats, and the ride began operating.
Feeling the breeze thirty meters up, Ah Bo couldn’t help spreading his arms wide.
“Awesome!”
Before he could fully enjoy the moment, the ride rose again, and the ground rapidly expanded in his vision.
“Holy crap, this thing can go even higher?”
Zhang Bei, who just happened to be walking below, narrowed his eyes. Looking at the Black man plummeting down in the chair, he scratched his head.
Was that a Northeasterner who’d gotten a tan?
But after looking at his complexion, Zhang Bei quickly realized what was going on. This was a foreigner who knew how to swear in Chinese.
“We must show our international friends goodwill. Take it straight to ninety meters!”
The employee silently mourned the Drop Tower riders for three seconds, then excitedly pressed the switch.
The visitors who were still mentally preparing themselves froze on the spot.
A series of miserable cries immediately rang out.
“Zhang the Thief, I will never forgive you!”
“Zhang the Thief, don’t you run if you’ve got the guts!”
“Beep beep beep beep beep beep!”
Listening to the tourists overhead express their love for him, Zhang Bei walked off into the distance with a spring in his step.
Ah Bo’s scalp went numb as he watched the height keep climbing.
“Good lord almighty, what kind of amusement park lets you play like this? Ain’t this just askin’ for my old life?”
But words clearly could not stop the Drop Tower. As it continued to rise…
His body suddenly dropped into empty air. All the seats had retracted.
“No, I’m beggin’ you, don’t-aaaaaah!”
His Northeastern-flavored scream instantly rang across the sky. Wendell, who had just walked out of the Amusement Park, couldn’t help but shudder.
He could save the rest of the attractions for when his friend arrived and take his time trying them then.
Thanks to the natural advantage of his voice, Ah Bo somehow managed to scream all his fear out of his system.
Even with the extra ninety meters added to the duration, Ah Bo only ended up with weak legs. Perhaps his face had gone deathly pale too, but it was hard to tell.
When he saw a doctor walking toward him while burping, the scene of that doctor munching on a hand instantly surfaced in his mind.
This doctor didn’t eat people, did he?
Why did that look in his eyes feel a little scary?
The doctor merely flipped through his heart-rate chart, then, unable to determine whether he was in danger, directly stuffed a heart-saving pill into his mouth.
Before long, the doctor was pushing a cart full of tourists toward the Morgue.
Ah Bo was helped aside by a staff member to rest. Feeling the sunlight on his skin, the pressure he had accumulated from making short videos for so long gradually began to melt away.
Soon, Ah Bo’s gaze locked onto the Giant Swing not far away.
He still had to meet with the company tomorrow to discuss a new script. He couldn’t waste time resting!
And so, Ah Bo dragged his weakened body over and got in line.
Fortunately, the queue happened to have an empty spot, and he was able to sit down directly in a chair.
Looking at the staff member who had come over to strap him in, he asked, “Uh, can I ask something? This chair is fixed in place, right?”
“Yes, sir. The chair is secured!”
Ah Bo let out a breath of relief. He glanced down at the clothing on his body, then waved both hands from side to side.
“Hey, this thing ain’t got any handrails?”
The moment he finished speaking, the music started, and the Giant Swing activated with it.
Looking at the wheel on the outer ring, Ah Bo completely relaxed.
No need to panic at all. The chair was already fixed in place. What was there to be scared of?
“Hey, are you from the Northeast?”
Hearing the voice beside him, Ah Bo immediately broke into a smile.
“How could I be? I’m African. Your country’s citizenship is way too hard to apply for!”
“Be careful. This thing isn’t any easier than the other attractions.”
“Thanks, brother. But what’s this outfit for?”
“You’ll find out in a bit.”
The man silently turned his head away to keep Ah Bo from noticing the excitement in his eyes. It was time to let a foreign friend experience some suffering!
Soon, the wheel known as Transformers revealed its power.
The Giant Swing kept accelerating, and as the outer ring continued to expand, its speed grew faster and faster.
At last, with a click, the Giant Swing shot rapidly into the sky.
Ah Bo stared at the ground getting farther and farther away, his mouth hanging wide open.
“Good lord almighty, how can this thing go up into the sky too?!”
The Giant Swing, as if trying to break free of Earth itself, carried the tourists upward amid wave after wave of screams.
If this thing had even one handrail, at least there would be some sense of security.
But apart from a protective suit, the entire chair had nothing but a safety belt.
Before Ah Bo knew it, tears were streaming from his nose and the corners of his mouth.
Damn it, I’m such an idiot. If I’d just asked someone, I’d have known this thing could fly into the sky!
That thought lasted only until the third time the Giant Swing shot upward. After that, his mind went completely blank, and he squeezed his eyes shut.
