Chapter 68
Chapter 68
The group exchanged glances, their eyes instantly shifting toward the nearby tourists.
Seeing that they had found a solution, Director Shi could only let out a helpless sigh. However, the thought of the afternoon’s tasks brought a smile back to his face.
“Boss Zhang, this should be the last wave of tourists for the morning, right?”
Zhang Bei checked the time. “Yeah. We can have lunch once this wave is over.”
Director Shi nodded. “Keep it up! We’ll eat as soon as we finish recording!”
The group around them was instantly fired up.
With the help of the tourists, Chen Chichi and the others successfully obtained their Lunch Coupons. To get them, Xiao Lu had given away a signed photo, while Brother Chao had surrendered his own armband. Chen Chichi, ever the sly one, gave out a voucher for his hot pot restaurant.
As the last batch of tourists exited, the employees temporarily closed the attractions and gathered around the actors as they headed to the restaurant.
Chef Li stood tall, wearing a face mask.
“Welcome!”
Since they were filming today, Chef Li hadn’t just brought out his best culinary skills; he had also changed into a brand-new chef’s uniform.
The group of ‘refugees’ clutched their Lunch Coupons tightly as they followed the staff to the service window.
“One Lunch Coupon is good for two dishes.”
Chef Li’s voice was slightly muffled by his mask.
Standing at the very front was Chen Chichi, who had been hungry for a long time. He swallowed hard as he stared at the rich variety of dishes behind the glass. He hurriedly handed over his two Lunch Coupons. “Braised pork, crispy ribs, soft-fried tenderloin, and a soup.”
Chef Li placed Chen Chichi’s food onto a tray and handed it over. The moment he took the tray, the aroma of the food wafted into his nose. Chen Chichi didn’t care about anything else at that point; he grabbed his tray and sat down immediately.
Once all the actors were seated, the employees gathered around. Director Shi sat with Zhang Bei, his chopsticks moving at lightning speed.
“Aren’t you going to say hello, Boss Zhang?”
Zhang Bei shook his head. “No need. Let the staff enjoy themselves.”
Director Shi glanced at the set-up cameras and went back to eating hurriedly. It wasn’t easy to get a hot meal during a shoot. Most of the time, everyone from the director to the cameramen lived off boxed lunches.
Nearby, the cameramen sat together, devouring their food.
“This is great. It’s really not easy to get a meal like this.”
“I really hope we can come back here for the next episode.”
“Keep dreaming. Knowing Old Shi’s personality, if we eat well this episode, we’ll probably be starving until the end of the season.”
“Holy crap, don’t steal my meat!”
In the time it took for the two cameramen to speak, the braised pork on the plate disappeared at a visible rate.
The sumptuous lunch ended amidst the laughter of the employees. While everyone was resting, Gu Yue quietly handed a small bag to Baby.
“Baby, touch up your makeup. My cosmetics are all in there.”
Hearing Gu Yue’s voice, Baby’s eyes instantly lit up. After a morning of torment, her makeup had long since turned into something resembling a ghost mask. Director Shi had intentionally kept the makeup artists away, clearly intending to watch the chaos unfold.
“Thank you so much!”
“It’s nothing. The restroom is on the left.”
Their voices were very low, so no one noticed when Baby slipped away.
Li Yang sat down next to Chen Chichi and lowered his voice.
“Find the place selling sour plum soup first. Buy a cup; it’ll help soothe your mental state.”
Chen Chichi nodded quickly, noting down the key point.
“Anything else?”
Li Yang glanced at the Director, who was chatting with the boss. “In the afternoon’s Underground Maze, remember not to choose Tunnel 58. That’s the highest difficulty!”
Chen Chichi’s face darkened. “The Maze actually has difficulty levels?”
Li Yang nodded. “The level of scares varies across the different passages. Thirteen through twenty-three are the easiest.”
While the rest of the cast was busy asking for advice based on his experience, Brother Chao was the outlier.
Out of the nearly five hours they had spent there that morning, he had been unconscious for two. Now that he had eaten his fill, he was more energetic than ever.
“So, your medals aren’t just for Longboard Skiing?”
You Bai nodded. “Short Track Speed Skating, Wild Speed Skating-I have medals in all of those.”
Brother Chao sucked in a breath of cold air. As a fellow second-tier athlete, he knew exactly how hard those medals were to earn.
Facing such a top-tier athlete, the two of them immediately hit it off and started chatting.
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, it was time for the afternoon session to begin.
Director Shi stood up and clapped his hands.
“This afternoon, you will be searching for props for Name Tag Ripping inside the Underground Maze. Every single prop is vital.”
Chen Chichi suppressed a smirk and glanced at Li Yang.
Now that he knew the Maze was divided by difficulty, Chen Chichi planned to choose the easiest passages directly. Even if the rewards were slightly worse, at least he wouldn’t be scared to death.
The cameramen hoisted their equipment and followed behind the actors.
Just as they stepped out of the restaurant, Xiao Lu noticed something.
“Baby, did you put on makeup?”
At those words, everyone turned to look at Baby. They had all come out looking like refugees from a camp. How did she manage to get her makeup done?
The makeup artists hadn’t arrived, right? Where would she even find cosmetics in an Amusement Park?
Baby smiled. “I ran into a kind soul!”
Big Black Bull didn’t care about such things. “Let’s go, we still have to get in line.”
Chen Chichi thought about his on-screen persona and decided there really wasn’t any need for him to bother with makeup.
The group soon arrived at the entrance of the Maze. Chen Chichi, holding a drink in one hand, was the first to walk inside.
To the side, Brother Chao scratched his head. “Is Chichi really that brave today?”
Big Black Bull gave a soft chuckle and followed closely behind Chen Chichi toward the passages.
In the end, only Brother Chao and Baby were left at the entrance.
“Let’s go. This should be the final stage for today.”
Baby watched the others disappear, nodded, and casually walked into a passage.
Brother Chao squinted at his cameraman.
“Let’s try to guess what the numbers on these represent.”
After a round of intense, ‘fierce-as-a-tiger’ reasoning, Brother Chao nodded with satisfaction.
“In conclusion, based on the difficulty levels, the higher the number, the more dangerous it is.”
Hearing the voice coming through the Monitor, Zhang Bei raised an eyebrow.
He hadn’t expected Brother Chao to figure out the logic behind the Maze passages on his very first visit.
However, the very next sentence left Zhang Bei utterly dumbfounded.
“But knowing the boss’s personality, he definitely would have accounted for this. So, we’ll do the exact opposite!”
With that, he marched straight into Passage Eighty-Five.
Zhang Bei was stunned by Brother Chao’s baffling logic.
You could say he was smart-he did figure out what the numbers meant on his first try.
But you could also say he was an idiot-and there wouldn’t be anything wrong with that either.
He had clearly deduced the truth, yet he chose to walk into the most dangerous passage anyway.
Director Shi glanced at Zhang Bei. “What’s the skill for Passage Eighty-Five?”
“Time Stop.”
“Oh? Brother Chao has some good luck!”
Zhang Bei’s mouth twitched, but he said nothing more, quietly watching the Monitor.
