Chapter 75
Chapter 75
He appeared to be around the same age as Yun Youyou, with skin as white as snow. His lips were a vivid, almost decadent red, and there was a listless air about his handsome features, making him look as if he hadn’t quite woken up yet.
He slowly climbed out of the coffin, his eyes scanning the crowd without a hint of emotion.
“What do you want?”
He was wearing nothing but a T-shirt and a pair of baggy shorts, looking nothing like the image of a Vampire everyone had imagined.
Aren’t Vampires supposed to live in ancient castles, wear ornate medieval clothing, and elegantly swirl a glass of wine?
The group found it truly impossible to reconcile the image of a Vampire with the “pretty boy” in baggy shorts standing before them.
Before anyone could snap out of it, the Vampire’s nose twitched slightly.
“Such a fragrant scent.”
The Vampire sniffed the air diligently, searching for the source of the aroma.
A moment later.
Yun Youyou watched speechlessly as the Vampire sniffed around her.
“…What are you smelling?”
The Vampire finally found the source of the fragrance.
He looked up and said earnestly to Yun Youyou, “The scent on you is very pleasant.”
He had puppy-dog eyes that slanted slightly downward at the corners. When he looked at someone, it made them feel as if they were the only person in his world.
Yun Youyou sniffed herself as well.
“I don’t smell anything. Can you tell me what kind of scent it is?”
The Vampire replied, “It’s the scent of cilantro.”
Yun Youyou: …
So it was cilantro.
Yun Youyou suddenly remembered that back in the first Instance, the Female Ghost who knitted scarves had also mentioned that she smelled like cilantro.
The Vampire leaned in close to Yun Youyou. He didn’t try anything inappropriate; he just stood there obediently like someone huffing a cat, a look of pure satisfaction on his clean, fair face.
Yun Youyou’s expression was quite complicated.
She could finally empathize with how a cat feels when it’s being smothered with affection.
No wonder cats had such short tempers. Who wouldn’t find this annoying?
The Rich guy looked at the Vampire, whose face practically screamed “all is right with the world,” and his mind was filled with question marks.
“Aren’t you a Vampire? Why do you like cilantro?”
The Vampire ignored the Rich guy, remaining quietly by Yun Youyou’s side as if he hadn’t heard a word.
Rich guy: “…”
Ignoring me, are you?!
On the verge of exploding with rage, the Rich guy had no choice but to poke Yun Youyou, signaling for her to ask the Vampire instead.
Yun Youyou was forced to take on the heavy responsibility.
“Aren’t you a Vampire? Why do you like cilantro?”
It was the exact same question, yet this time, the Vampire answered seriously.
He slowly raised his head and said lazily, “Because I’m a vegetarian.”
If Su Yurou hadn’t held him back, the Rich guy would have definitely rushed over to interrogate the Vampire.
*Why won’t you answer my questions!*
*Are you looking down on me!*
Yun Youyou almost thought she had misheard him.
“There’s such a thing as a vegetarian Vampire?”
Even Shamate and the Red-haired Trendy Guy wore expressions of pure shock.
They knew a Vampire lived here, but they never knew the Vampire in residence was a vegetarian.
The Rich guy asked with a twisted expression, “If you’re a vegetarian, then why did you drink Wu Shulan’s blood!”
If he hadn’t drained Wu Shulan dry, she wouldn’t have died.
The Rich guy glared at him with hatred.
The Vampire didn’t spare him even a glance, his eyes still fixed quietly on Yun Youyou.
The Rich guy was about to lose his mind!
Who the hell did this guy think he was, acting so arrogant!
Did he look down on him that much? Was he really going to play deaf and dumb?
Su Yurou quickly stepped forward to hold the Rich guy back, frowning. “Calm down first. Let’s get the facts straight before we say anything else.”
Out of necessity, Yun Youyou now had to act as the spokesperson for the Players.
However, every Player had to pay an additional hundred-yuan ‘spokesperson fee.’
A profiteer would never let a single chance to make money slip by.
When it was finally Yun Youyou’s turn to speak, the Vampire was finally willing to open his mouth.
Upon hearing about Wu Shulan’s tragic state, his expression remained indifferent, and his voice was even calmer, tinged with a hint of coldness.
“I have never seen this woman, and I certainly wouldn’t drink her blood.”
The Rich guy’s tone grew even more agitated.
“Bullshit! Who else is a Vampire around here besides you? A real man should own up to what he’s done. Sister Yun, you’d better stay away from this lowlife!”
The Vampire looked at Yun Youyou thoughtfully. “So, your surname is Yun.”
After saying that, he finally deigned to give the Rich guy half a glance.
“If you don’t believe me, there’s surveillance footage.”
The Rich guy’s voice jumped eight octaves.
“Surveillance! You actually have surveillance here!”
Everyone else also showed looks of astonishment.
The Vampire seemed somewhat confused.
Was the human world so backward that they didn’t even have surveillance?
In reality, everyone wasn’t surprised by the concept of surveillance itself, but rather by the fact that there was surveillance inside an Instance.
Seeing such high-tech equipment in an Instance always felt like a strange crossover between genres.
Everyone silently processed this information in their minds.
“Where is this surveillance you’re talking about?”
The Rich guy was still skeptical, maintaining a hostile attitude toward the Vampire.
The Vampire gave him a fleeting glance and continued to pretend he hadn’t heard a word.
The Rich guy was fuming.jpg.
In the end, it was only after Yun Youyou spoke up that the Vampire agreed to lead them to the footage.
He didn’t even leave the room; he simply stood the coffin lid upright.
The group saw that an iPad-like device was actually installed on the inner side of the coffin lid.
They watched as the Vampire unlocked it with a fingerprint, swiped his finger across the screen a few times, and pulled up the security camera feed.
The few Players who hadn’t seen much of the world were so shocked their mouths hung open.
Had technology in the Ghost Realm already reached such an advanced level?
The Vampire quickly locked onto the target in the footage.
He found a segment of Wu Shulan from before she died.
The surveillance footage showed Wu Shulan walking in the courtyard at first. Then, she seemed to see something. She found a wooden bucket in a corner, tied it with a hemp rope, and lowered it into the Well.
It appeared she wanted to draw some water.
Right then, a sudden change occurred.
A bloated, grayish-black Toad suddenly leaped out of the Well.
Its body expanded rapidly, its rough skin covered in circular warts. As its size ballooned, the poison sacs on its body also continued to enlarge.
It didn’t stop until it was half the height of a person.
Wu Shulan looked terrified. Before she could even react, the Toad lunged at her and tore open her throat.
A sense of malice and satiety gleamed in the Toad’s black eyes.
In desperation, Wu Shulan used all her Points to exchange for a dagger from the Shop. After stabbing the Toad once, she stumbled and ran outside.
Unfortunately, the blood in her body had already been almost completely drained.
The Toad didn’t bother to give chase. After shrinking its body, it immediately jumped back into the Well.
