Chapter 160
Chapter 160
The group chat was still lively.
Fang Yu occasionally shared amusing stories from the Mental Hospital.
This time, she posted a video to the chat.
What kind of video was it?
Curious, Yun Youyou tapped it open.
The clip began with a burst of chaotic noise. Then the shaky image finally steadied.
The patients were sitting in the cafeteria, eating their meals in complete contentment.
Yun Youyou even spotted the Mushroom Brothers.
Despite all the time that had passed, they still liked crouching motionless in a corner and pretending to be mushrooms.
Fang Yu swept the camera around the patients and excitedly asked them, “Would you like to see Nurse Yun?”
Yun Youyou had expected a heartwarming scene.
Instead, the patients froze at first, apparently trying to remember who Nurse Yun was.
The moment they remembered, they abandoned their meals and bolted.
Bowls crashed and clattered all over the tables.
Even the Mushroom Brothers sprang out of their corner and immediately ran for their lives.
“Where are all of you going?”
Fang Yu hurried after them.
The only response she received was the merciless sound of slamming doors.
Bang! Bang, bang!
Every ward had its doors and windows tightly shut. Not even a mosquito could have squeezed inside.
Fang Yu posted the video to the chat with a caption: Nurse Yun, look how much they miss you! They miss you so much they don’t dare see you. They’re afraid that one glimpse will only make the pain worse.
Yun Youyou had six points to make in response: ……
Nurse Fang must have been a master of creative picture descriptions as a child. Her reading-comprehension skills had truly reached their peak.
Doctor Lan also commented in the group: It seems the patients all like Nurse Yun very much.
Like an elderly man, he even added a thumbs-up sticker at the end.
Compliment value: +0. Sarcasm value: +10,086.
With wicked delight, Yun Youyou left a message in the group: Ask them if they remember where my Chainsaw is.
The patients in the Mental Hospital probably suffered PTSD from hearing the word Chainsaw alone.
However, Nurse Fang and Doctor Lan were both busy at work.
Even after Yun Youyou’s message had been sitting there for a while, no new replies appeared.
She could only leave the group in disappointment and look for some other amusement.
[You have a new news bulletin. Tap to view.]
A notification banner suddenly appeared at the top of the light screen.
Yun Youyou had nothing better to do, so she tapped it.
The light screen abruptly went black. Only after loading for quite some time did an image appear.
The last news anchor had been a fuzzy Rabbit Plushie.
This time, the news anchor was a Ghost Granny.
Her silver-white hair was twisted into a bun at the back of her head, and deep wrinkles covered her face. With glowing green eyes and a gloomy expression, she looked exactly like the Ghost Granny every child imagined.
Hunched behind a desk, Ghost Granny clutched a stack of papers in her bony hands.
She narrowed her long, thin eyes and adjusted the reading glasses perched on her nose.
After taking ages to prepare, she finally began reporting the news.
“Spring is warm and the flowers are blooming. Once again, the mating season for ghosts and monsters has arrived. According to our informants at the scene, a staff member was recently confessed to by a Player while working in an Instance. Everyone agrees that nothing like this has ever been heard of before.”
If Yun Youyou had been drinking water, she would have sprayed an entire mouthful across the light screen.
Was gossip really this fast in the Ghost Realm?
She had been confessed to in the morning, and by afternoon, she was already on the ghost news.
Ghost Granny had probably seen it all before. In the same aged voice, she continued reading the report at an unhurried pace.
“This also demonstrates that the social order of the Ghost Realm still requires improvement, particularly in the division of property after divorce and the allocation of child custody…”
As she read, she began reminiscing about the wonderful life she had once lived.
“Young people these days are really something. Back in our time, we didn’t know what it meant to like someone. If two ghosts took a fancy to each other, they’d catch a human as a betrothal gift. Once they ate the person together, they were married.”
“Inflation is severe in the Ghost Realm now, so one human probably isn’t enough. You also need a hearse and a mansion for the dead. Only someone with a vehicle and a home can find a good partner. In more particular families, even the urns and coffins need to be of equal social standing…”
Once Ghost Granny began talking about the past, she never stopped.
Of the half-hour program, she spent two minutes reporting the news and the next twenty-seven reminiscing.
During the final minute, Ghost Granny took out a blank sheet of paper and wrote down her Light Brain account.
“Seeking local companionship. Handsome older gentlemen preferred. Serious inquiries only.”
Yun Youyou: “…”
Brilliant. Truly brilliant!
Age and experience really did win every time.
If she were on the Game’s show-planning team, she would immediately create a Ghost Realm dating show. The NPCs could resolve their lifelong romantic concerns, and all the other NPCs would get some entertainment out of it.
Yun Youyou was still imagining what background music the dating show should use when an unfamiliar tune suddenly played in the room.
The unexpected noise startled her.
She hurriedly climbed out of bed and circled the small room before finally locating the source.
The landline in the corner was emitting a shrill ring.
Ever since Yun Youyou moved into this room, she had never heard that telephone ring.
Now that it had suddenly come to life, it felt rather like a corpse sitting up.
Yun Youyou had no idea who might be calling, but she had a feeling nothing good would come of answering.
She lay back down on the bed.
Unfortunately, the caller had extraordinary patience. Call after call came through until the room was unbearably noisy.
Yun Youyou finally picked up in irritation.
“Who is this?”
A string of incomprehensible gibberish came from the other end.
Yun Youyou’s frown deepened. “Please speak Mandarin.”
The caller seemed to finally recover its language system and spoke in halting Mandarin.
“Foolish ghosts and monsters! I am a demon from Planet 678. Run while you can! I will capture every one of you and make you work in my Game. Heh-heh-heh…”
That should have been where the call ended.
But not only did Yun Youyou refuse to hang up, she began asking about the pay and benefits in the other Game.
“How many days a week do you work?”
The alien clearly had not expected Yun Youyou to turn the tables and start conducting an interview.
After a pause, it answered uncertainly, “Five days?”
Yun Youyou nodded in satisfaction. “How much does it pay?”
“Is five thousand enough?”
Yun Youyou was even more satisfied. “What about full benefits? Health insurance, retirement, and a housing fund?”
“I think so?”
The alien on the other end had fallen into confusion, while Yun Youyou could not have been more pleased.
“Then move as fast as you can.”
The alien grew even more bewildered. “Move fast with what?”

Sorry, Sis is the NPC You Can’t Catch Up With
(A completely brainless, silly story)
Yun Youyou opened her eyes and found that she had inexplicably become an NPC in a Horror Game.
