Chapter 187
Chapter 187
Yun Youyou might have been too lazy to scare anyone, but that did not mean the other ghosts were equally considerate.
Sure enough, before her mask had finished its work, another scream came from the bathroom at the end of the hall.
Yun Youyou wrapped herself in a robe and strolled outside.
The other bedroom doors opened one after another.
“Mom! A ghost!”
Shen Mingzhen shrieked in the dark.
Yun Youyou stood closest to him and nearly jumped out of her own skin.
She looked around in confusion. “Where?”
Everyone tensed and scanned their surroundings.
Then the Vampire switched on the hallway light.
At last, Shen Mingzhen saw the ghost’s true face.
“…Why are you wearing a sheet mask in the middle of the night?”
Yun Youyou finally understood who he had called a ghost.
Technically, he was not wrong.
Yun Youyou really was a ghost.
The Young Master and Second Young Master had also been startled. Only when Yun Youyou removed the mask did they realize it was a false alarm.
They glared at Shen Mingzhen. “Making a fuss over nothing!”
Shen Mingzhen accepted the scolding without resistance.
So what if he was timid? Were people no longer allowed to make mistakes in the dark?
Resentful, he transferred his anger and gave Yun Youyou a wounded glare.
Yun Youyou: Oh? This brat dared glare at her?
She immediately declared, “That’s right. I am a ghost. I especially love eating pigeon tails, so you can call me the Pigeon-Tail Ghost.”
At first, no one understood.
Then Shen Mingzhen said flatly, “Oh, go away.”
The poor Second Young Mistress was still huddled inside the bathroom.
When everyone continued chatting in the hallway without coming to help, she reached the end of her patience and screamed again.
This time, the others finally wandered over.
Once they saw the state of the bathroom, they understood why the Second Young Mistress had screamed so loudly.
Blood covered the white walls and bathtub.
Bright red droplets had sprayed through the entire room like rain and mist.
The sight sent chills down every spine.
The open faucet continued dripping blood, like a severed pulse.
Shen Mingzhen helped the Second Young Mistress to her feet first.
Only after settling her safely did he enter the bathroom to investigate.
The Vampire remained behind Yun Youyou. He did not even blink at the scene and merely murmured, “That isn’t blood.”
No one else heard him. Only Yun Youyou did.
The Young Masters searched the bathroom.
The eldest looked furious and hurled the object in his hand to the floor.
“Damn it! Who’s playing tricks here? If I catch you, I’ll kill you first!”
While everyone else continued searching, Yun Youyou took the Vampire to the sink.
The color of the liquid felt familiar, as though she had seen it before.
Pointing at the faucet, Yun Youyou asked him, “Is that blood?”
The Vampire shook his head. “No.”
“Do you know what it is?”
“I’m not certain.”
Yun Youyou leaned closer and sniffed.
It had a fruity aroma, a fermented tartness, a sharp edge, and a rich body.
She dipped the tip of her pinkie into it and tasted it. Her eyes instantly lit up.
Everyone was occupied with their own tasks. Not one person noticed what Yun Youyou was doing.
She sprinted to the kitchen and returned with a wineglass.
“Want some?”
The Vampire: “…You drink it.”
By the time Shen Mingzhen finished his inspection and turned around, Yun Youyou was holding a wineglass and taking leisurely sips, her eyes narrowing with pleasure.
Jealousy immediately soured Shen Mingzhen.
Why did being a ghost allow her to enjoy herself without doing any work?
Shen Mingzhen became a bitter little mushroom in the corner.
Then Yun Youyou emptied her glass and placed it beneath the faucet again.
Shen Mingzhen: “!!!”
His eyebrows nearly flew off his face. “What are you drinking?”
Yun Youyou’s eyelid jumped. She pulled back the glass and swirled it at him.
“Red wine. Haven’t you seen it before?”
Everyone looked over.
Shen Mingzhen was close to collapse.
“Of course I know what red wine is! I’m asking where you got it!”
Yun Youyou pointed at the faucet and generously invited him. “Would you like a glass?”
Shen Mingzhen: “…”
Everyone else: “…”
Yun Youyou took another sip. “It’s fragrant. Are you sure none of you want any?”
No one answered. Their minds were still malfunctioning.
Yun Youyou sighed to herself. “I used to dream of iron pots that cooked by themselves, homework that filled in its own answers, and faucets that poured milk. Technology has advanced so quickly. Faucets can pour red wine now!”
“Butler!”
The Butler silently stepped forward. “You called, Madam?”
Yun Youyou pointed to the faucet.
“Bring two barrels immediately. We can’t let all this red wine go to waste.”
The Butler opened his mouth, then closed it. In the end, he surrendered.
“Yes, Madam.”
Everyone’s expression seemed to ask Yun Youyou whether she had lost her mind.
She suddenly remembered her melancholy, frail character setting.
Yun Youyou dabbed at dry eyes. “The Master loved red wine when he was alive…”
The Second Young Master muttered, “The Master never said he liked red wine produced by a toilet.”
Yun Youyou: “…”
It might have come from a bathroom faucet, but Yun Youyou believed with absolute conviction that it was excellent wine!
At that moment, the Butler returned carrying two wine barrels.
Yun Youyou instructed him, “Take these two barrels to my room later. The Master appeared in my dream–”
Before she could finish, the quick-witted Butler completed the excuse.
“I understand. The Master must have appeared in Madam’s dream to say he desired a small drink underground.”
Yun Youyou regarded the Butler with deep approval.
“Exactly.”
Yun Youyou turned toward her room, but a little tail followed behind her.
Just before entering, she stopped and looked back at that tail.
“Wait. No gentlemen beyond this point.”
Forced to stop, the Vampire earnestly replied, “I can temporarily become a lady.”
Yun Youyou revised her rule. “No Vampires either.”
The Vampire said, “I’m not a Vampire. I’m your Vampy.”
“…”
Yun Youyou had no choice but to revise it again. “No creature of any kind except me may enter.”
This time, the Vampire could find no loophole.
“All right. Sleep early.”
He did not pester her. He merely stood obediently outside her door and said, “Good night.”
“Good night.”
Yun Youyou gave him one final glance and went inside.
Only after her figure disappeared behind the door did the Vampire turn away.
He ignored the Players still gathered around the bathroom and returned directly to his own room.
