Chapter 149
Chapter 149
After handing the homework over to Yun Youyou, Su Gou left.
He walked away without a care in the world, leaving Yun Youyou staring at the pile of homework on the ground, her head practically splitting in two.
Only after all the students had left the wilderness did Red-haired Trendy Guy and Shamate come over.
The moment they arrived, both of them stared wide-eyed.
“Sister Yun, what are you doing?!”
Red-haired Trendy Guy looked at Yun Youyou in shock.
A Sunflower was holding a pen, lying listlessly on the ground as she did homework.
Shamate rubbed his eyes.
“We haven’t seen you for half a day, Sister Yun. How did you suddenly become so studious?”
Yun Youyou was suffering in silence. She couldn’t even complain if she wanted to.
Red-haired Trendy Guy leaned closer to the Sunflower. “Sister Yun, didn’t you say we were going to the Player side tonight to sniff out some information? When are we going?”
Yun Youyou placed the remaining two homework books in front of Shamate and Red-haired Trendy Guy, then wrote on the ground: “One book per ghost. We go after the homework is done.”
Red-haired Trendy Guy and Shamate: ???
The bright moon hung high in the night sky, its scattered light shining over the empty wilderness.
By the clear moonlight, three plants did homework on the ground.
Red-haired Trendy Guy scratched his ears and cheeks in frustration.
“What the hell is all this? Why can’t I understand any of it?”
Shamate was just as miserable.
“I still remembered a little back in high school, but after the college entrance exam, my brain got wiped clean. Now it’s full of nothing but dirty thoughts.”
Only Yun Youyou said nothing, writing furiously under the moonlight.
In the latter half of the night, the three ghosts finally finished the homework.
Shamate came back to life at full health. “Let’s go. We’ll head to the Player dorms now and catch them all in one fell swoop!”
Red-haired Trendy Guy shouted, “Charge!”
Yun Youyou: “Damn it!”
The three ghosts were full of ambition and ready to move out.
Just before leaving, Yun Youyou paused and wrote on the ground: “Do you know which way to go?”
Red-haired Trendy Guy: “Uh…”
Shamate: “Now that you mention it, I really didn’t think about that.”
The three ghosts looked at one another. None of them had expected to get stuck on this problem.
Red-haired Trendy Guy said indifferently, “Forget it. We can just keep walking straight ahead. If we find it, great. If we don’t, we’ll come back first.”
All three ghosts unanimously agreed this was a good idea.
They trekked over mountains and across rivers.
They got farther and farther away from the wilderness where they had started.
When they saw the swamp in front of them, the three plants finally stopped.
Shamate said, “No matter how you look at it, there’s no way the Player group would live here, right?”
Red-haired Trendy Guy glanced at the pitch-black forest ahead. “Do you two still remember the way back?”
The Sunflower and the Pea Sprout looked more lost than the other.
Red-haired Trendy Guy said, “I have some unfortunate news for you. We’re lost.”
Shamate said, “Heh. Like we needed you to tell us that.”
In the darkness, there was no way to tell direction.
Shamate said, “Right now, we only have two choices. The first is to stay here and wait until daybreak before we leave. The second is to keep moving forward, but we might get even more lost.”
Red-haired Trendy Guy said, “I’m fine either way. I’ll listen to you two.”
Yun Youyou was fine either way too. Plants could sleep anywhere, after all.
Shamate thought it over. “Then let’s toss a leaf to decide. If it lands face-up, we stay where we are. If it lands back-up, we keep going.”
Red-haired Trendy Guy and Yun Youyou had no objections.
The leaf was tossed unsteadily into the air.
As it drifted down, a gust of wind happened to blow past.
The leaf was blown onto the stream.
The three plants hurried over to take a look.
Pea Sprout ran at the very front.
He lowered his head. Before he could even make out whether the leaf was facing up or down, something terrifying floated up from the water.
Pea Sprout met those beady little eyes for one second, then immediately spun around and ran for his life.
“Run! There’s a crocodile over here!!!”
Red-haired Trendy Guy and Yun Youyou instantly bolted.
What the hell kind of place was this? It even had crocodiles!
The three plants didn’t dare look back.
Sunflower was tall and sturdy, and she quickly pulled ahead.
She simply scooped up Pea Sprout and Cactus, carrying the two ghosts with her as she ran.
No one knew how long they ran. Only when Yun Youyou’s body finally ran out of strength did she stop, panting hard.
Red-haired Trendy Guy and Shamate quickly climbed down from Yun Youyou.
They hadn’t expected Yun Youyou to be so loyal. In a crisis like that, not only had she not abandoned them and run off alone, she had even brought along two burdens like them while fleeing for her life.
“Sister Yun, you’re way too loyal!”
Red-haired Trendy Guy looked at Yun Youyou gratefully.
Yun Youyou waved a leaf at him, indicating it was nothing.
But it was that very glance back that let Yun Youyou see danger descending on them.
“Get down!”
Yun Youyou threw herself to the ground and, in the same motion, pressed the other two ghosts down with her leaves.
A bizarre-looking plant suddenly opened its mouth wide and struck at the spot where Red-haired Trendy Guy had just been.
It looked a little like a pitcher plant, but it was much larger.
At the end of its vine hung a funnel-shaped trap, like a gaping mouth.
“Holy crap, what the hell is that thing?”
Red-haired Trendy Guy broke out in a cold sweat.
If Yun Youyou hadn’t just saved his lousy life, he would probably already be inside that thing’s stomach.
Seeing its food dodge away, the strange plant could only withdraw its vine in frustration.
But it still didn’t give up.
Seizing its chance, it lunged at Yun Youyou and bit down.
Shamate and Red-haired Trendy Guy cried out together.
“Sister Yun!”
But they still weren’t able to stop the strange plant in time.
The strange plant clamped down on Yun Youyou and was just about to smile smugly when it realized it couldn’t bite through her at all.
Not only could it not bite through her, it couldn’t even drag Yun Youyou back to digest her slowly.
Had this Sunflower grown up eating iron weights?
Why was she so heavy!
The strange plant exhausted all its strength trying to drag Yun Youyou back, but even when its stem was nearly torn apart, it still failed to move her.
The two sides fell into a stalemate.
Yun Youyou felt that the strange plant’s mouth was seriously too foul.
It stank worse than an exploding cesspit.
That bizarre stench was enough to smoke a ghost to death.
“Damn it!”
Yun Youyou shouted angrily, finally jolting the two ghosts still frozen in place back to their senses.
“Quick, quick, quick! Pull Sister Yun out!”
Shamate and Red-haired Trendy Guy each grabbed one side of Yun Youyou.
“Heave-ho! Heave-ho! Heave-ho!”
Under the efforts of all three ghosts, the strange plant soon began to lose ground.
It couldn’t bear to give up the food in its mouth, but if they kept pulling, even its roots were going to be ripped out.
After a simple bit of consideration, it finally let go.
Under the recoil, all three plants flew backward together.
Pea Sprout and Cactus ended up cushioning Sunflower from below.
Red-haired Trendy Guy sighed with feeling. “Having a bigger head really is a good thing. At critical moments, it can save your life.”
Shamate said, “It isn’t enough for your head to be big. It also has to be hard.”
Yun Youyou nodded in agreement.
