Chapter 87

As a ghost, Yun Youyou didn’t actually need to rest.

However, lying on the comfortable dragon bed with the faint scent of sandalwood wafting past her nose, she found herself closing her eyes without even realizing it.

Wisps of smoke drifted from the incense burner in the corner.

“Your Majesty! Your Majesty! Please wake up!”

Yun Youyou was shaken awake from her slumber.

“What’s wrong? What happened?”

Propping herself up on one arm, Yun Youyou squinted at the newcomer.

A Palace Maid was kneeling on the floor, sobbing uncontrollably.

“Your Majesty Youyou, the enemy has already broken in!”

Yun Youyou’s mind was still a muddle, and she instinctively blurted out, “Is our Crystal still standing?”

The Palace Maid’s sobbing stopped abruptly. She looked at her with a face full of confusion and asked, “Crystal? What crystal?”

Yun Youyou’s brain finally cleared.

Oh right, there are no Crystals in this Instance.

Yun Youyou tried a different question: “How many seconds until the enemy reaches the battlefield?”

The Palace Maid couldn’t answer that.

“It… it should be in just a moment.”

Yun Youyou sat up straight on the bed. “Prepare for All Troops Attack!”

The Palace Maid’s tears flowed even more fiercely.

“The guards are about to break, Your Majesty. You should run while you still can.”

Yun Youyou was stunned.

She had only been sitting on the emperor’s throne for a short while; how was the country already facing destruction?

This user experience was terrible.

The Palace Maid hurriedly draped an outer robe over Yun Youyou and stuffed a pre-prepared bundle into her arms.

“Your Majesty, please escape through the Secret Passage!”

Seeing Yun Youyou still standing there motionless, the Palace Maid pulled her over to the wardrobe, opened a hidden door, and pushed her inside.

“Run, Your Majesty!”

The door slammed shut with a thud.

Yun Youyou blinked in the darkness.

She felt like something was wrong, but she couldn’t remember anything.

Whatever, she would just take it one step at a time.

As Yun Youyou walked through the pitch-black Secret Passage, she could occasionally hear wails coming from above, along with the thumping footsteps of the enemy.

Splattering blood and cruel laughter seemed to be right at her fingertips.

Wait!

Where did Tao Jinran and the others go?

Wang Yuanyou didn’t seem to have appeared either.

After thinking for a moment, Yun Youyou decided to go back the way she came.

She tried to push the wardrobe door, but found it wouldn’t budge.

Something outside was blocking it.

Yun Youyou controlled the Tentacles behind her, extending them through the gap in the wardrobe to flick away the wooden bar bolted across the door.

Once the door opened, Yun Youyou immediately pulled back the foot she had just stepped out with.

Opening the wardrobe door should have revealed the Emperor’s inner chambers, but there was nothing in front of her. Only a white mist floated before her eyes, obscuring her vision.

No!

This is actually a dream!

Wake up! Wake up!

Yun Youyou thought desperately in her heart, pushing with all her might.

When she opened her eyes again, she finally saw the bright yellow bed curtains.

She was finally awake.

Yun Youyou’s chest heaved violently as she used her sleeve to wipe the thin layer of sweat from her forehead.

What a bizarre dream. It almost didn’t let her wake up.

Hearing movement inside the curtains, Tao Jinran came over and lifted them.

“You’re finally awake. No matter how I called you just now, you wouldn’t wake up. Why is your forehead covered in sweat?”

Yun Youyou got out of bed and poured herself a cup of water.

“I just had a strange dream. I dreamed that the enemy was attacking.”

Tao Jinran joked, “I didn’t expect you to be such a responsible Emperor, worrying about national affairs even in your dreams.”

Perhaps because of that strange dream, Yun Youyou felt listless for the rest of the day, unable to muster interest in anything she did.
Even the thick-skinned Wang Yuanyou noticed that something was wrong with Yun Youyou.

“Forget it, I’ll just have to use my dashing looks to cheer you up!”

Wang Yuanyou rushed over to Yun Youyou and struck several ridiculous bodybuilder poses, even showing off his scrawny biceps.

Yun Youyou: “…”

She slumped over her desk, looking even more wilted than before.

Tao Jinran glared at Wang Yuanyou. “She’s already like this, and you’re showing her something so greasy?”

Wang Yuanyou squatted in a corner, heartbroken.

*Hmph, I’ll draw circles on the ground and curse you.*

Tao Jinran racked her brains, trying to figure out how to restore Yun Youyou’s spirits.

“How about we go play in the Imperial Garden?”

Yun Youyou gave a noncommittal nod.

The scenery in the Imperial Garden was beautiful.

A gentle breeze blew, and a Young Eunuch who was tending to the plants immediately came over to bow when he saw Yun Youyou.

Yun Youyou pointed at a patch of empty land. “Why isn’t anything planted here?”

The Young Eunuch lowered his head and replied, “The flowers here wilted, so they were just cleared out. We haven’t decided what to plant yet.”

Yun Youyou said, “Then just plant coriander. It’s edible and nice to look at-both practical and ornamental.”

It was the first time the Young Eunuch had heard such a strange request, and he stammered his agreement.

Seeing that Yun Youyou’s mood had improved slightly, Tao Jinran immediately asked, “Why don’t we play a game? What do you want to play, Youyou?”

Yun Youyou replied, “Anything is fine.”

Tao Jinran suggested, “How about pitch-pot?”

Yun Youyou shook her head.

Tao Jinran tried again, “Then how about playing leaf cards?”

Yun Youyou still shook her head.

Tao Jinran asked, “What about going for a boat ride?”

Yun Youyou said, “It’s too sunny.”

Tao Jinran endured it for a moment before saying in her gentlest voice, “My dear Youyou, this isn’t called ‘anything is fine.’ This is called ‘nothing is fine.'”

Yun Youyou apologized sincerely, “I’m sorry.”

Tao Jinran’s frustration vanished instantly.

What else could she do with such a well-behaved Youyou? Spoil her, of course.

Yun Youyou suddenly thought of something and suggested, “How about we play a catching game?”

Tao Jinran asked, “What’s a catching game?”

Wang Yuanyou added, “Do you mean Eagle Catches Chickens?”

Yun Youyou shook her head.

A moment later, everyone understood what Yun Youyou’s “catching game” was.

Wang Yuanyou acted as the referee.

A black cloth was tied over Yun Youyou’s eyes.

The Palace Maids scattered, watching Yun Youyou warily.

Wang Yuanyou hadn’t expected the so-called catching game to be this.

Yun Youyou explained that when she used to watch historical dramas, she had always wanted to know what it felt like to be a decadent tyrant.

At first, the Palace Maids were a bit stiff.

But later on, everyone started making noises on purpose, letting Yun Youyou hear them but not catch them.

Listening to the giggles and laughter in the Imperial Garden, Wang Yuanyou thought to himself: *Yun Youyou’s portrayal of a decadent tyrant is way too accurate. She’s practically playing herself!*

The women in the palace were all too cunning.

Yun Youyou tried to catch them for a long time but didn’t get a single one.

She pretended to lean against a pillar to rest, but in reality, her ears were pricked up, listening intently.

The Vampire happened to be passing by in the distance.

Seeing Yun Youyou, he immediately changed direction and walked toward her.

On the other side, Wang Yuanyou had also secretly sent someone to call Ji Lin over.

At that moment, Ji Lin and the Vampire happened to cross paths.

The two of them stopped simultaneously, looking at each other coldly.

Now was the chance!

Yun Youyou lunged forward, grabbing both of them in a tight hug.

Wang Yuanyou: “!!!”

*Whoa!*

*Sister, you are truly brave!*

The Palace Maids all hid behind the pillars, watching the drama unfold.
