Chapter 200
Chapter 200
Yun Youyou said, “That’s not the point. I’ve already worked myself to the bone for my boss. Don’t I deserve to make the occasional mistake?”
[Is that also your excuse for constantly slacking off as an NPC?]
The Game’s quiet voice brimmed with resentment.
Yun Youyou laughed awkwardly.
“It’s about balancing work and rest. Taking a break when you’re tired is perfectly normal.”
The Game snorted and said nothing more.
The Security Captain stood outside the security booth in the distance.
They were too far apart for him to hear what President Fu and Yun Youyou had said.
As soon as Yun Youyou returned, he asked with urgent curiosity, “What did President Fu say to you? He seemed to look at you for a long time.”
Had President Fu stopped for so long simply because Yun Youyou was pretty?
The Security Captain desperately wanted to know what had just happened.
Yun Youyou had no intention of reliving that toe-curlingly embarrassing memory.
“Nothing much. President Fu just told me to work hard and become a Captain someday.”
The Security Captain immediately felt threatened.
But from another perspective, this proved that he had trained her well. Otherwise, how could a brand-new employee have earned praise from an executive?
Once he thought it through, the Security Captain’s expression softened.
He looked at Yun Youyou and encouraged her. “Keep up the good work. You’ll have plenty of opportunities for promotion.”
Yun Youyou thrust out her chest. “Yes, sir!”
The Security Captain lingered a while longer. When nothing important happened, he went to the Lounge to slack off.
Only Yun Youyou and the dark-faced man remained in the security booth.
Yun Youyou found a bag of sunflower seeds in a drawer and leisurely began cracking them open.
The dark-faced man glanced at her.
“You shouldn’t eat while you’re on duty.”
Yun Youyou pointed at the colorful assortment of snacks filling the drawer. “Then why do you think all this is here?”
The dark-faced man had no answer.
Security work was both easy and boring.
Yun Youyou sat with her chin propped in one hand, bored out of her mind.
From the corner of her eye, she happened to notice a man peeking around suspiciously outside the entrance.
Yun Youyou slipped up behind him and followed his gaze into the building.
She saw nothing.
“What are you looking at?”
Her voice startled the suspicious man badly.
Guiltily, he shifted his eyes away.
“I-I wasn’t looking at anything!”
Yun Youyou crossed her arms and got straight to the point.
“What are you here for?”
The man hesitated, then replied weakly, “Another Company sent me to discuss a partnership with yours.”
Yun Youyou asked, “Do you have an appointment?”
“No.”
“Then you can’t go in.”
The man didn’t argue. The moment she denied him entry, he said, “Then I’ll leave for today and come back next time.”
He turned and walked away.
Yun Youyou watched him go.
The man was obviously suspicious. She had no idea what he had really come to do.
As soon as Yun Youyou returned to the security booth, she saw the Security Captain hurrying over.
“I almost forgot there’s a security conference today. Since this is your first time, I’ll take you two along so you can broaden your horizons.”
Two veteran guards took over at the entrance.
“You two, hurry up and follow me.”
The Security Captain strode away at a brisk pace.
Yun Youyou followed curiously.
Security guards held conferences too?
“Once we get there, just sit down and listen when other people speak. Clap for them. As long as you don’t play with your phones, you’ll be fine.”
Before entering the conference room, the Security Captain gave the two new employees a few final instructions.
The door opened onto a huge conference room packed with security guards.
Their uniforms came in all kinds of styles, though nearly all of them were black.
“These are our new employees. They may be young, but they’re very dependable workers.”
The Security Captain introduced Yun Youyou and the dark-faced man to the room.
Everyone graciously offered them a few words of encouragement.
Five minutes later, Yun Youyou sat beside the Security Captain and began staring blankly into space.
This security conference consisted of each Company sending a representative to systematically summarize and review its security work.
One person after another went up and rattled off long speeches that could put anyone to sleep.
“Our work still has many shortcomings. Moving forward, our primary focus must be…”
Yun Youyou was so sleepy she could barely keep her eyes open.
Through the haze, she heard several people talking.
“It’s always us old men giving these talks. We should let the young people speak once in a while and bring in some fresh blood.”
“You’re right. Let’s ask the new employee, Xiao Yun, to say a few words.”
At the sound of her name, Yun Youyou shot upright like a dying patient jolting out of bed.
She looked in horror at the Security Captain sitting beside her.
The Captain smiled at her with warm benevolence and gave her an encouraging look.
“It’s fine. Just say whatever comes to mind. Tell us your thoughts on security work and how we can improve it.”
Yun Youyou’s scalp tingled.
She had hated the self-introduction segment even when she was in school.
Making her speak in front of so many people now was practically a death sentence!
Yun Youyou looked at the Captain uneasily.
“I just started working here, so I don’t know much about this. Maybe…”
The Security Captain cut her off.
“It’s fine. Just say a few words. If I remember correctly, you graduated from a prestigious university. You must know more than old men like us.”
Yun Youyou said, “…You really want me to say whatever comes to mind?”
The Security Captain waved magnanimously.
“Don’t worry. Say whatever you like.”
With that, Yun Youyou had no choice but to stand and walk to the front.
Countless pairs of eyes fixed on her.
Yun Youyou didn’t have a single thought about security work.
At this point, she could only go for broke.
Yun Youyou cleared her throat and leaned toward the microphone.
“I believe the most important part of security work is adding fiberglass to our uniforms. That’s because hydrogen peroxide has an extremely serious effect on Schrödinger’s cat. While you’re working, you have to toss the largest possible baton with ketchup. Otherwise, it’s easy to generate dynamic light waves, commonly known as KFC, which can cause visitors to explode and lead to very serious consequences.”
Even Yun Youyou had no idea what she was saying.
She surveyed the people below.
Every face looked solemn, as though they were contemplating some profound question.
At last, the Security Captain spoke first.
“Uh… Very well said. As expected of a top student, your perspective is certainly more original than that of old men like us. Excellent. Excellent!”
The Security Captain silently wiped the sweat from his forehead.
He would never tell anyone that he hadn’t understood a single word.
Once he finished, everyone else seemed to come back to life.
“Yes, yes! That was truly excellent! We’ll start doing exactly that tomorrow!”
“Young people really do think differently. Their minds are so much more flexible than ours.”
“Very good! Every point she raised was extremely practical!”

Sorry, Sis is the NPC You Can’t Catch Up With
(A completely brainless, silly story)
Yun Youyou opened her eyes and found that she had inexplicably become an NPC in a Horror Game.
