Chapter 201
Chapter 201
The widely acclaimed Yun Youyou: ……
Of everyone present, only the dark-faced man found Yun Youyou’s words a little strange. A trace of doubt showed in his eyes.
She had finally managed to bluff her way through.
Yun Youyou sat in her seat and sighed softly.
It really wasn’t easy being a security guard these days.
Several more old men spoke after that.
When the last person began speaking, Yun Youyou keenly sensed the Security Captain beside her straighten his back.
He leaned toward Yun Youyou, his eyes practically spitting fire.
“That man is the Security Captain of our rival Company. He’s also my sworn enemy!”
Yun Youyou put on her best gossip-watching expression.
Oh, how exciting.
Sure enough, as soon as his sworn enemy finished, the Security Captain raised his hand and declared loudly, “I disagree with your position.”
Yun Youyou: !
So exciting! Fight! Fight!
The next second, the Security Captain looked at Yun Youyou. “Tell him why I disagree.”
Yun Youyou: ???
Wait, how am I supposed to know why you disagree?
You can’t just shove someone else forward because you can’t explain it yourself!
The Security Captain kept signaling Yun Youyou with his eyes while everyone else stared at her.
Yun Youyou had no choice but to… step up.
She silently rose and spent a moment organizing her thoughts.
“The main reason is that this baton is divided into anions and monomeric enzymes. It’s like how you need to add some diluted non-Newtonian fluid when eating an ohm omelet, so you can bring out the tractor effect more effectively.”
The instant Yun Youyou finished, the Security Captain applauded with all his might.
“Exactly! That’s precisely what I meant!”
He looked smugly at his sworn enemy. “See that? Look how outstanding my team member is. You should learn from her when you have the time.”
Listening from the side, Yun Youyou felt guilty as hell.
If talking nonsense were a crime, even ten death sentences probably wouldn’t be enough for her.
Fortunately, the industry conference finally came to an end.
Yun Youyou let out a long breath.
Being a corporate beast of burden really wasn’t easy.
Fortunately, everyone at the conference was from a different generation and couldn’t understand a word she was saying. That made the humiliation slightly less severe.
At that thought, Yun Youyou finally felt a little better.
As she left the conference room, she spotted a printer on one of the tables.
Sheet after sheet of white paper streamed endlessly out of it.
Yun Youyou instantly had a bad feeling.
“What’s being printed?”
The person sorting the pages beside it smiled. “The transcript of the meeting for President Fu. President Fu takes the Company’s security work very seriously, so everyone’s remarks are recorded and sent to his office.”
His words struck like a bolt from the blue.
They blasted Yun Youyou until she was charred and crispy on the outside, tender and fluffy on the inside.
If she had a choice, Yun Youyou would rather be a lamb skewer that didn’t have to think than stand here spouting nonsense, only for every word to be recorded and sent to a Company executive for a humiliating judgment.
Yun Youyou made one final struggle.
She pressed her hand down on the stack of meeting transcripts and asked with great difficulty, “Could we maybe not give this to President Fu?”
The recorder couldn’t understand why Yun Youyou looked so devastated.
It was as though what they were handing in wasn’t a meeting transcript, but the paper she had wiped her butt with.
Then again, to Yun Youyou, there might not have been much difference between the two.
The recorder guarded the stack of transcripts against his chest.
“No. President Fu wants to see it.”
He warily circled around Yun Youyou and headed straight out of the conference room.
Seeing Yun Youyou still standing there in a daze, the Security Captain walked over and asked, “Why are you still standing here?”
Yun Youyou looked as though she had lost her soul.
“I’m mourning the face I just lost.”
“Your face?”
The Security Captain gave her a strange look. “Isn’t your face still right there?”
Such a pretty face was impossible to miss.
Yun Youyou took a mirror from her pocket and studied her reflection.
“I need to look at it while I still can. Once I’ve lost all my face, there won’t be anything left to see.”
The Security Captain: ?
There really was a generation gap between him and young people.
On the top floor, Fu Yiming was reviewing documents.
Never in his wildest dreams had he expected to return to his old line of work after entering an Instance.
In real life, he had an enormous Company to manage. Inside the Instance, he was still buried in work.
Fortunately, it matched his professional expertise, so he was managing well enough.
Knock, knock!
“Come in.”
The female Secretary placed a document on his desk.
“President Fu, this is the security meeting transcript.”
“Leave it there.”
Fu Yiming didn’t look up. His gaze remained on the folder in his hands.
After delivering the transcript, the female Secretary left the office.
The president disliked being disturbed while he worked, so even when she closed the door, she did it with extreme care.
In the blink of an eye, half an hour passed.
Fu Yiming rubbed his aching neck and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling window.
His tired eyes finally got some relief.
Suddenly remembering something, he turned toward the meeting transcript the female Secretary had brought in.
It wasn’t important, but there was no harm in taking a look.
Fu Yiming walked over, picked up the document, and casually flipped through it.
Smack!
After reading a few lines, Fu Yiming abruptly snapped the document shut.
He must have opened it the wrong way.
Had aliens invaded the Instance?
Nothing else could explain why the meeting transcript contained so much Martian gibberish.
Fu Yiming calmed himself and opened the transcript again.
He still couldn’t understand it.
Fu Yiming: ……
He read through the entire transcript from beginning to end.
In the end, he discovered that everyone else had spoken normally. Only an employee named Yun Youyou sounded as though she had come from Mars, spouting absolute nonsense.
Fu Yiming rubbed between his brows and set the transcript back on his desk.
He wasn’t going to make trouble for a low-level employee.
But for the sake of his eyes and his brain, it was better to put it out of sight and out of mind.
Downstairs, Yun Youyou spent ages cracking sunflower seeds before she finally made it to the end of her shift.
She changed into her own clothes and decided to return to the dormitory to rest.
Fortunately, Fu Group was a fairly humane Company. Every employee got free accommodations.
Yun Youyou had just stepped out of the lobby when she heard someone call her name.
“Yun Youyou?”
The voice sounded familiar.
Yun Youyou turned and saw Jiang Mixue.
They had been roommates for a while in an earlier Instance. Meeting again now, they were both happy and a little excited.
Jiang Mixue jogged over to Yun Youyou.
She smiled and said, “What a coincidence! We met at a Company last time, and now we’re meeting at a Company again.”
Yun Youyou thought it was quite a coincidence too.
Noticing the business suit Jiang Mixue wore, she asked, “Do you work here too?”
Jiang Mixue said, “That’s right. I’m the president’s Secretary. So you’re an employee here too? Which department are you in? How come I’ve never seen you around the Company?”
