Chapter 62

The driver pulled over to the curb with an expressionless face.

“Out! Everyone out! Stop mooching off my air conditioning!”

A few minutes later, five backpackers climbed out of the bus.

They each dragged heavy suitcases behind them, looking utterly disheveled.

Yun Youyou glanced at the banner taped to the side of the bus: *Welcome to the Live Long Tour Group.*

Well, that was a very straightforward blessing.

“What kind of godforsaken place is this? Where are we supposed to stay?”

A short-haired man stepped off the bus, running a hand through his hair impatiently with a look of pure disdain.

In this middle-of-nowhere dump, there wasn’t even a five-star hotel. There were only a few small shops lining the street.

Shabby. It was absolutely pathetic!

As soon as Yun Youyou looked over, she was nearly blinded.

The short-haired man had a gold Necklace as thick as a thumb hanging around his neck, and the gold rings on his fingers were even larger and flashier. Under the sunlight, he was the literal embodiment of a glittering nouveau riche.

Yun Youyou looked at herself.

She was wearing the simple work clothes provided by the Instance. For the sake of her job, she had even tied on an apron.

Printed on the apron were the words: “Welcome to Youyou Restaurant.”

Yun Youyou looked at herself, then at the Rich guy, instantly feeling the vast disparity of the world.

Just then, a Tour Guide came rushing off the bus.

The few strands of hair on his head fluttered in the wind.

The Rich guy looked at him impatiently.

“Hey, where are we staying? You’re being way too irresponsible for a Tour Guide.”

The Tour Guide wasn’t about to be intimidated by a mere Player.

After all, there was no telling if this guy would even make it out alive. In the Game, those with the cockiest attitudes usually died the fastest.

The Tour Guide let out a disdainful snort. “If you’re so capable, go build your own hotel. All you know how to do is talk shit.”

The driver honked the horn impatiently.

“Enough chatter!”

He had to rush to another Instance. He was already running late, yet these people were still standing here wasting time with their endless nonsense.

The Tour Guide finally cut his words short and pointed impatiently at the shops ahead.

“There are five shops here. Pick one you like and stay there. Choose carefully. If you’re lucky, you might live a little longer. If you’re unlucky… well, good luck with that.”

With that, the Tour Guide climbed back onto the bus without looking back.

The bus made a sharp, stylish U-turn and vanished instantly.

The Players finally turned their attention to Yun Youyou, who had been standing by the roadside the whole time.

The first thing they saw was Yun Youyou’s exquisite, flawless face. She was impossibly beautiful, her slightly wavy long hair shimmering under the sun.

The Rich guy froze for a moment, then suddenly took a giant leap backward.

“A honey trap! This must be a ghost’s honey trap! Everyone, be careful! This might be one of those legendary fox spirits!”

Yun Youyou: “…”

She decided to play along, curling her fingers into claws and deliberately approaching the Rich guy with a sinister, evil smile.

“That’s right. I’m a fox spirit, and I specialize in eating fair and tender little Fatties like you!”

The Rich guy simply flopped onto the ground. “Whatever. I have too much money anyway, and life is boring. Just go ahead and eat me.”

His “dead pig unafraid of boiling water” attitude completely bewildered Yun Youyou.

She truly couldn’t fathom what kind of troubles having too much money could bring.

Squatting down beside the Rich guy, she asked curiously, “What’s bothering you?”

The Rich guy let out a deep sigh.

“Sigh… my problem is that I have too much money. I can’t spend it all! I simply can’t spend it all!!”
Yun Youyou felt a surge of rage rising from her heart.

I’m going to eat this humblebragger today if it’s the last thing I do!

God, she hated posers more than anything!

Just as Yun Youyou was about to lose control, a girl emerged from the group of Players and clamped her hand over the Rich guy’s mouth.

She looked at Yun Youyou with a cold, expressionless face.

“Sorry, he’s a bit slow in the head. Please don’t lower yourself to his level.”

The Rich guy struggled to crawl up from the ground.

“¥%&*#!”

But as soon as he got up, the girl pinned him back down again.

After a few rounds of this, he completely lost the will to resist.

Now, he really was lying there like a dead pig.

Perhaps the commotion outside had grown too loud.

People began to trickle out from the neighboring shops.

“What’s all the racket? I was right in the middle of a great dance! You’ve ruined my groove, and that’s a very serious problem, you know!”

The voice sounded somewhat familiar.

Yun Youyou turned her head to look.

Sure enough, it was him.

As soon as the man saw Yun Youyou, the words died in his throat. His expression was a cocktail of shock, fear, and despair, mixed with a heavy sigh for his own tragic fate.

Fate is a cruel mistress! Truly cruel!

Yun Youyou stared curiously at Shamate’s new look.

She hadn’t seen him for a few days, and he had already changed his style again.

His originally multicolored hair was gone, replaced by a grassy green that even had a hint of fluorescence to it.

If Shamate hadn’t been relatively fair-skinned, that shade of green would have been an absolute disaster.

His leather jacket and pants emitted a strange sheen under the sunlight, making him look a bit like someone who slaughtered fish at a supermarket. On his feet, he wore a pair of brown loafers.

Well… it was hard to find the words.

After finishing her appraisal of Shamate’s new ensemble, Yun Youyou couldn’t help but ask, “Excuse me, but who exactly gave you the advice for your Green Prairie Hairstyle and your Fish-Slaughtering Look?”

Shamate self-consciously touched his Green Prairie Hairstyle.

“A friend of mine gave me these style recommendations. Don’t you think it looks good?”

Yun Youyou said meaningfully, “If I ever get the chance, I’d really like to meet this friend of yours. I think your friend is very… fashionable.”

“Right?! I think he’s very fashionable too! I often call him the Fashion Guru of the Ghost Realm. Do you want to meet him? He actually came along this time! You want him to design a look for you too, right? I’ll have him design a set for you in a bit!”

Shamate felt as if he had found a kindred spirit, and even the fear he felt toward Yun Youyou began to fade.

“It’s perfect! My friend has red hair, and if you dye that thing of yours blue, we’ll be the RGB Primary Colors! How trendy! How cool!”

Shamate grew excited just thinking about it.

RGB Primary Colors?

What, do you think we’re in an art class?

Yun Youyou had no intention of dyeing her hair blue.

She rejected him flatly. “Forget it. You guys are too ‘damp’ for me. I’m afraid I’ll catch rheumatism.”

Shamate pulled a spray bottle from his pocket and gave a silly grin. “It’s okay! I have Gui Nan Bai Yao. No need to fear rheumatism.”

Yun Youyou: …

Is this kid playing dumb on purpose?

But looking at Shamate’s idiotic face, Yun Youyou genuinely couldn’t tell for a moment if he was faking it or if he really was that stupid.

“Bro! Why did you come out without waiting for me?”

A breathless voice called out from behind the two of them.

Yun Youyou and Shamate turned around together.

The newcomer had a head of vibrant red hair, looking like a ball of fire burning in the air.
