Chapter 72
Chapter 72
The Red-haired Trendy Guy couldn’t have been in a better mood.
He said happily, “Finally, I’ve vented that pent-up frustration! That annoyance has finally run off!”
“That ghost was way too irritating.”
The Rich guy chimed in from the side.
He didn’t forget to take the opportunity to suck up to Yun Youyou.
“If every ghost in an Instance was as beautiful, lovely, and gentle as Sister Yun, that would be great.”
The Red-haired Trendy Guy and Shamate felt a wave of revulsion, condemning the Rich guy with their eyes: “Sycophant!”
The Rich guy silently turned his head, pretending not to see their glares.
This was a survival skill-those who knew, knew.
However, compared to the vicious ghosts in other Instances, the ghosts in this Instance were already quite friendly. At least they didn’t try to skin and debone the Players at every turn.
Thinking of this, the Rich guy couldn’t help but ask curiously, “Why don’t you NPCs eat people?”
This was a novel question.
Yun Youyou thought for a moment and said uncertainly, “Probably because I’m a picky eater?”
Shamate flipped his hair and said arrogantly, “Eating people is too low-class. I only want to spread my handsomeness to every corner of the world.”
The Red-haired Trendy Guy also tossed his head proudly. “Same here.”
Yun Youyou: …
I guess I’m still a bit too normal, which is why I feel so out of place in the world of ghosts.
The Rich guy asked again, “In that case, why did the three of you come to this Game to be Ghost NPCs?”
At the mention of this question, even the air fell silent.
The three ghosts fell silent together.
“Sigh…”
Seeing the three of them like this, the Rich guy suddenly understood everything.
He looked at the three of them emotionally and wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes.
“It’s okay, I understand. I know you don’t have it easy either. We’re all pitiful people.”
Who knew what kind of backstory he had concocted in his head.
Yun Youyou: I don’t think you understand at all.
“Ah!!!”
A piercing scream suddenly came from next door.
Everyone looked toward the source.
“That’s Wu Shulan’s voice!”
The Rich guy’s expression grew solemn.
They were all Players who had arrived on the same bus, so they were more or less familiar with each other’s voices.
Although the Rich guy was a coward, he still gritted his teeth and rushed out at the critical moment.
But as soon as he reached the door, he came to a dead stop.
The three ghosts behind him exchanged glances and followed him out.
Walking to the doorway, the three ghosts saw a woman collapsed on the ground.
She was wearing only a T-shirt. She had likely been so panicked while fleeing that she only had one shoe on her foot.
Even more terrifyingly, a chunk of flesh had been torn directly from her carotid artery, leaving her trachea exposed to the air. The skin all over her body was shriveled into a clump, making her look as aged as someone in their sixties.
The Rich guy’s legs went weak, and he knelt directly on the ground.
Yun Youyou frowned slightly.
She glanced at the weak-kneed man kneeling in front of her and stepped forward to the woman’s side.
Yun Youyou gently lifted Wu Shulan’s head.
Her eyes were still staring wide, reflecting a terror that reached deep into her bones. Her pale mouth was slightly agape, as if she still had something to say.
Yun Youyou placed a finger under her nose to check.
“She’s already dead.”
The Rich guy remained kneeling on the ground, murmuring in disbelief, “Dead? How could she just die?”
The Rich guy had been lucky to stay at Yun Youyou’s Restaurant.
The two ghosts, the Red-haired Trendy Guy and Shamate, also harbored no hostility toward the Players.
The situation had become so relaxed that even the Rich guy had let his guard down, forgetting that the ghosts in this Game were man-eaters.
Yun Youyou didn’t want a corpse lying in front of her Restaurant indefinitely; it was bad for business.
“You three, go bury her first.”
Shamate and the Red-haired Trendy Guy had no objections.
As they passed the Rich guy, Shamate saw him still sitting dazed on the ground and gave him a direct kick.
“Hey! Get to work. Don’t even think about slacking off!”
The Rich guy was knocked to the ground by the kick. He scrambled up, his voice trembling with agitation.
“That was a living, breathing human being! She just died like that-can’t you show a little compassion? Can’t you at least let me catch my breath!”
Shamate let out a mocking laugh.
“What? Are we supposed to go on a vegetarian diet and chant sutras to release her soul? The fact that I’m not eating you is the greatest mercy you’ll get! Don’t push your luck, kid.”
After being lashed by Shamate’s tongue, the Rich guy didn’t dare say another word.
He obediently stood up and helped the others lift the body.
“How exactly did she die?”
The Rich guy didn’t dare look at the corpse. He kept his eyes fixed on the patterns of the floor tiles and asked in a low voice.
The Red-haired Trendy Guy replied indifferently, “How else? Excessive blood loss, obviously. She just happened to be staying in that Vampire’s house.”
It was simply a case of the Player having bad luck.
That Vampire usually spent all year sleeping in his coffin and couldn’t be bothered with the Players.
This time, he probably woke up hungry. He just happened to get out of bed and see a Player; he simply treated the breakfast delivered to his door as a snack.
The Rich guy felt incredibly fortunate that he had drawn the Youyou Restaurant back then.
Staying here cost a massive amount of money at most.
But at critical moments, as long as the money was right, Yun Youyou would actually come to protect you. The safety factor was exceptionally high.
You got what you paid for. Even though the Rich guy’s heart ached for his money, he had to admit it was worth every cent.
After leveling the soil, the Rich guy let out a soft sigh.
In this Game, if you died, you stayed dead.
He wondered how much longer he could survive here.
In the afternoon, the four Players gathered at the Youyou Restaurant.
They all knew about Wu Shulan’s death and were discussing what to do next.
Yun Youyou sat behind the counter, looking utterly speechless.
These Players were treating her place like a secret base, congregating here whenever anything happened.
She had no idea what they were talking about.
After a while, the sound of an argument broke out.
Just when Yun Youyou thought they were about to start fighting, their voices dropped again.
Yun Youyou was eating chilled watermelon provided by the Female Ghost.
She didn’t know where the Female Ghost had found the watermelon, but it had been cooling in the Well all morning. Now, the fruit was icy and refreshing, truly delicious.
The Rich guy walked up to Yun Youyou and said with a firm tone, “We’ve decided to go find the Vampire together and avenge Wu Shulan!”
Yun Youyou continued eating her watermelon, not even bothering to look up.
“Oh. Go ahead then.”
The Rich guy remained standing in front of her, refusing to leave.
Yun Youyou finally glanced up at him.
“You’re blocking my light.”
The Rich guy: “…”
Since hints weren’t working, he had no choice but to speak plainly.
“So, could you please come with us?”
Yun Youyou didn’t even think about it. “No.”
It was the expected answer, so the Rich guy wasn’t surprised.
“We Players discussed it. If you accompany us, we can each give you 1,000 Game Coins.”
