Chapter 96

Qin Nan and Jian Fan were the first to pull three tents from the Military Box.

The two of them would share one, while the other two were for Mu Xin and Qi Shuping.

After that, Qin Nan rummaged through the Military Box for other daily necessities. Finding nothing particularly useful, he didn’t take anything else for the time being. Jian Fan, watching from the side, grabbed two boxes of ammunition and slipped them into his down jacket pocket under the cover of darkness.

Qin Nan saw this clearly. Although he didn’t know what Jian Fan was planning, he acted as if he hadn’t noticed the man’s secretive movements.

With the two of them making their moves, the others quickly followed suit.

Qin Nan and Jian Fan stepped back, yielding their positions to the rest of the group.

Qin Weiyi didn’t move initially. He waited until everyone else had crowded forward before giving Lu Jing a nudge.

Even though Lu Jing was a latecomer, he managed to snatch the fourth and final tent from the others.

Once the four tents were taken, the Military Box was more than half empty. Aside from ammunition, the remaining items were just non-essential daily supplies.

Yellow Hair hesitated for a moment before taking a frying pan. Seeing this, Orange Hair spotted a rolling pin and grabbed it; it could at least serve as a makeshift weapon for self-defense.

They left the other items alone for now.

Or rather, they were either useless or too difficult to carry. There was a heavy iron pot and a wide-mouthed earthenware jar, while the rest were just bits and pieces-things like salt and disposable plastic bags.

Lin Junruo felt a bit frustrated.

She had followed the others over, but she couldn’t squeeze her way to the front. By the time she could reach the contents, there was nothing left worth taking. After a moment’s hesitation, she grabbed some plastic bags.

Even though she couldn’t think of a use for them yet, she figured that if they were in the Military Box, they had to be useful for something, right?

Lin Junruo could only use these trivial items to comfort herself.

After everyone had finished taking what they wanted, Lu Jing went over to check the state of the Military Box.

“None of you know how to use a gun, so I’ll take all the ammunition. The rest of these items can be considered communal property. With the pot and the jar, we might be able to try distilling fresh water,” Lu Jing said, unilaterally defining the status of the remaining goods.

No one objected. At the very least, no one wanted to offend Lu Jing at a time like this.

Lu Jing closed the Military Box. Then, after scanning the surroundings, he found a spot and immediately began setting up his tent. “The current situation isn’t suitable for wandering around,” he said. “We’ll rest here for now and talk about everything else tomorrow.”

Staying put carried the risk of exposure, but moving through the darkness held many unknown dangers as well.

Now that Lu Jing had made the decision, regardless of what anyone else might be thinking, no one chose to act alone for the time being.

Since Lu Jing had started setting up his tent, Qin Nan and Jian Fan also got to work.

Jian Fan took charge of pitching their tent, while Qin Nan handed the other two to Mu Xin and Qi Shuping.

As Mu Xin was part of their team, she took hers as a matter of course. Qi Shuping didn’t refuse either; after receiving her tent, she proactively invited Xu Tian to stay with her.

Qin Nan glanced at Xu Tian and then at Qi Shuping. He had quite a few thoughts on the matter, but he didn’t voice them.

Orange Hair looked at the others’ tents with envy. He nudged Yellow Hair and whispered, “Hey, should we… maybe trade for one?”

When no one had a tent earlier, it felt bearable. But now that everyone else had one, Orange Hair felt the psychological gap was too large-it was starting to affect his mental well-being.

Yellow Hair looked at the down jacket Orange Hair was wearing and asked, “Do you have enough Points?”
“Isn’t this just taking precautions? Otherwise, if we catch a cold or get sick, won’t it cost even more Points?” Orange Hair countered.

Yellow Hair had actually been tempted for a while now, and with Orange Hair putting it that way, he couldn’t hold out any longer.

However, they only needed to exchange for one tent for now. After some discussion, they agreed that since Orange Hair was the one who brought it up, he would be the one to redeem the tent this time. When they encountered something else that required Points later, Yellow Hair would step up.

Although Qian Xing felt the sting of spending his Points, seeing everyone else with a tent made him envious. Gritting his teeth, he redeemed one from the Points Mall as well.

Lin Junruo was likely the only one left without a tent.

Looking at the Points she had worked so hard to save, Lin Junruo sighed. Forget it. Points could be earned again, but she only had one life.

Just as Lin Junruo opened the shop and prepared to make the exchange, someone suddenly tapped her on the shoulder.

Lin Junruo turned around to see Mu Xin, who had appeared beside her.

“You’re not going to make me set it up all by myself, are you?” Mu Xin looked at Lin Junruo with feigned dissatisfaction, then pouted. “I’m telling you now: if you don’t help, I’m not letting you stay in it.”

Hearing this, Lin Junruo immediately broke into a smile. “Tell me what to do, I’m on it.”

Qin Nan glanced over at Mu Xin and Lin Junruo.

He didn’t exactly dislike Lin Junruo, but he didn’t want to accept her as a teammate either. However, Mu Xin’s relationship with Lin Junruo was something he couldn’t change. As long as it didn’t cause any real harm, he didn’t mind giving Lin Junruo a hand.

When they were picking out tents, they had already taken into account that Mu Xin would bring Lin Junruo along; otherwise, they wouldn’t have taken three.

He walked back to Jian Fan’s side and began helping him set up their tent.

While setting up the tent, Qin Nan’s mouth didn’t stay idle.

“Did you see that? Qin Weiyi is wearing the women’s version of the couple’s set,” Qin Nan said with a hint of envy.

Jian Fan stopped what he was doing, looked over at Qin Nan, and replied, “My Points.”

“Lu Jing used Qin Weiyi’s Points too, and he’s wearing the men’s version,” Qin Nan immediately countered.

Jian Fan looked at Qin Nan expressionlessly and replied, “I can be a Qin Weiyi, but are you a Lu Jing?”

Qin Nan: “…”

Thanks, I really felt that sarcasm.

Lu Jing finished setting up his tent quickly. After checking the progress of the others, he gave them a hand. By the time everyone’s tents were up, it was already past midnight.

“Let’s switch shifts,” Lu Jing said straightforwardly. After speaking, he gestured for Qin Weiyi to go to sleep while he took the Sniper Rifle and sat down directly in front of the tent, standing guard over Qin Weiyi.

Seeing this, Qin Nan couldn’t help but feel a bit envious.

They both shared the surname Qin, so why didn’t he have such a good bodyguard?

“You can’t be a Lu Jing, so you want to be a Qin Weiyi?” Jian Fan spoke coolly from the side. After Qin Nan turned his gaze over, he added, “In certain aspects, you can.”

Qin Nan: “???”

The boss’s counterattack was late, but it arrived nonetheless.

After Jian Fan finished speaking, he entered the tent with an air of calm indifference.

A gust of cold wind blew by, chilling Qin Nan’s face. Snapping back to his senses, he immediately wrapped his down jacket tightly around himself and ducked into the tent.

Who cared about women’s clothing or whatever? A free down jacket and a free tent-weren’t they great?

Aside from the four people on watch, everyone else entered their tents to rest. Lu Jing sat directly in front of his tent and began to doze lightly.

The night passed in silence.

When daylight arrived, a new day brought a new chapter.

The sun came out, and the temperature on the beach began to rise, but what followed was not good news.
