Chapter 114

At six o’clock, everyone woke up one after another.

After greeting each other, they began to pack their things.

To avoid exposing themselves to the enemy, their camp was very well-hidden. However, this came with a drawback: they were surrounded by grass and trees. If today’s Transmission Medium for the Green Bubbles turned out to be vegetation or soil, they wouldn’t have the same luck they’d had on the beach.

They needed to finish packing quickly and find the boundary between two potential mediums.

Once everything was packed, those who were faster ate a couple of Compressed Biscuits and drank some water to line their stomachs.

Qin Nan glanced at the items in his and Jian Fan’s hands, then spoke to Mu Xin. “Can you help us store these? If it’s too heavy, I’ll carry the bag.”

Mu Xin considered it for a moment and nodded. “Fine, I’ll trust you this once.” With that, she handed the backpack over.

Qin Nan put his and Jian Fan’s water and biscuits into the backpack. He slung the bag onto his back and took Jian Fan’s Down Jacket, clipping one jacket to each side of the backpack straps. This immediately freed up both of his hands.

He had originally intended to take the Tent as well, but after Jian Fan glanced at his gear, he kept the Tent in his own hand. “Let’s trade.”

Qin Nan raised an eyebrow but didn’t object.

By the time the group finished packing, it was a minute or two past six-thirty.

Seeing that Qin Nan’s hands were free, Lu Jing tossed over one of the two Sniper Rifles they had found the day before.

Qin Nan caught it hurriedly, then asked blankly, “Why are you giving me a gun? I don’t even know how to fire it.”

“Just for show, to scare people off,” Lu Jing chuckled. It was hard to tell if he was serious or joking. After a pause, he held his hand out to Qin Nan. “Military Knife.”

Qin Nan: “…”

Actually, compared to a Sniper Rifle, he preferred the Military Knife.

Qin Nan handed the Military Knife back.

Lu Jing took the knife and gave it to Qin Weiyi. After looking around again, he gave the other gun to Lin Junruo.

Lin Junruo was just as bewildered as she took it. Her confusion was identical to Qin Nan’s: why give her a gun? She didn’t know how to use it either.

Lu Jing clearly didn’t intend to explain himself again.

Everyone in the group was carrying something. Currently, Mu Xin was carrying Qi Shuping’s Tent, so the only ones with free hands were Qi Shuping and Lin Junruo. Between the two, Lu Jing obviously felt that Lin Junruo was the more reliable choice.

While Qi Shuping was smart, she simply couldn’t keep up with the younger people in other aspects.

Lu Jing scanned the area to ensure nothing was left behind before heading out. The others followed immediately.

Qin Nan obediently took the rear to cover their tracks.

Lin Junruo and Mu Xin walked in the middle.

The beach offered no cover, so Lu Jing didn’t plan on returning there. Instead, he headed toward the foot of the mountain.

There was a rocky area at the base of the mountain.

Between the rocks and the vegetation, they would have to see which one the Green Bubbles chose this time.

The group walked quickly toward the mountain.

Walking at the very back, Qin Nan was in a fairly good mood. Although the Green Bubbles were terrifying, they had now fully mastered the method to avoid them. Furthermore, the enemy had appeared. While it seemed fraught with danger, the more that was exposed, the fewer unknown threats remained.

From that perspective, it was a good thing.

Besides, their supplies were decent now.

And then there was the gun in his hand.

Even if he couldn’t fire it, carrying it felt pretty cool. It was a real gun, after all.

From time to time, Qin Nan struck poses with the rifle while keeping a vigilant watch on their surroundings.

Just then-

Qin Nan thought he saw a flash of gray flicker past his eyes. It was fast, so fast it felt like an illusion, but Qin Nan immediately snapped into a state of high alert.
“Lu Jing!” Qin Nan shouted.

Actually, Lu Jing had already sensed that something was wrong without needing Qin Nan’s reminder; hearing Qin Nan’s voice now was merely a confirmation of his suspicions.

He immediately turned around and moved to Qin Nan’s side, his gaze sweeping over their surroundings. He raised one hand and signaled to the group, gesturing toward the foot of the mountain.

Qin Weiyi hurried toward the base of the mountain.

They were still some distance away from the mountain’s foot and absolutely could not afford to let a conflict break out here. Otherwise, if luck turned against them, it would be a fatal mistake.

Once the people in front had moved out, Lu Jing patted Qin Nan, signaling him to follow, while Lu Jing himself took responsibility for guarding the rear.

Seeing that Qin Nan’s group was about to retreat, the opposing side moved to act. Lu Jing caught a glimpse of a gray shadow and immediately fired his gun.

A loud bang echoed through the air.

Even though everyone had been somewhat prepared, their hearts still skipped a beat when the gunshot rang out. They quickly picked up their pace toward the rocky area.

That single shot was just the beginning.

The other side clearly had quite a few people. After Lu Jing hit one of them, the opponents began to launch their own attack. As they started to aim their muzzles at them, Lu Jing suddenly dropped to the ground, shouting a warning: “Everyone, get down!”

Lu Jing’s shout startled the group, but within a second of reacting, they all dropped flat. At that exact moment, the other side opened fire.

Qi Shuping was a bit slower, but Jian Fan quickly yanked her down. As Jian Fan pulled her toward the ground, a bullet whizzed right over her head, missing her by a hair’s breadth.

Qi Shuping naturally felt the rush of air as it swept past her scalp, and her face turned pale with fright.

Even when protected by a Big Shot, she was still just an ordinary person.

Her Points were getting closer and closer to the success threshold. If she failed at this moment, would she really be able to maintain a steady mindset?

That would be a very difficult task.

Jian Fan was in no mood to worry about Qi Shuping’s thoughts. He directly unfolded a Tent and placed it behind his feet to act as a screen.

Although the Tent likely couldn’t stop a bullet, it could at least block the enemy’s line of sight; it was better than nothing.

Seeing Jian Fan’s actions, others followed suit, propping up their Tents to one side to serve as cover.

They didn’t dare stand up and run at this point, so they began to crawl forward on their bellies.

They had to dodge bullets while simultaneously making their way to the foot of the mountain; time waited for no one. A distance that would have normally taken only a few steps was significantly slowed down by crawling.

While staying low helped them avoid the gunfire, the enemy was quick to react. Lu Jing assessed the situation and moved fast, rolling behind a nearby tree. From behind that cover, he began to return fire.

The enemy didn’t have many people, but compared to his side-where Lu Jing was the only one with combat capability-the opponents clearly held the advantage.

The only silver lining was that the enemy’s combat skills weren’t as strong as Lu Jing’s.

Perhaps because of this, the enemy focused their concentrated fire on Lu Jing. As for the others, the enemies had initially tried to aim toward Qin Nan’s group, but every time they turned their muzzles, Lu Jing would send a shot their way.

After several failed attempts, they grew incensed and focused all their targets on Lu Jing.

The situation was growing even more dire.

Qin Weiyi was crawling at the very front, but he was still about a meter away from the rocky area. It was only a step or two if he ran, but it would take a lot of effort to stand up and move. And at that moment-

The time jumped to seven o’clock sharp.

The Green Bubbles attacked once again.
