Chapter 109

After listening to Qi Shuping’s bit of chicken soup for the soul, the group gradually regained their composure.

While the Green Bubbles posed no immediate danger, they couldn’t just sit around and wait for death.

There were likely other dangers on the Deserted Island; things being this simple wasn’t the style of the Realm of Death. Furthermore, they needed to find a way to leave this place.

“Are we going to carry all this stuff on our backs?” Yellow Hair asked, pointing at the Tents on the ground with a troubled expression.

Carrying these would be a massive drain on their physical strength.

Lu Jing thought for a moment and said, “There are two choices. First, we carry all the luggage. Second, we split into two groups-one stays behind to guard the supplies, and the other goes to explore.”

As soon as Lu Jing said this, an indescribable look appeared on Yellow Hair’s face.

Was there even a choice?

Qin Nan and his companions only had their Down Jackets. While carrying them was a bit of a nuisance, they weren’t too heavy. They had no need for someone to stay behind and guard supplies. Simply put, if things were to be left here, only the few people who owned Tents would need to worry.

Qi Shuping didn’t voice her opinion on the matter. Instead, she looked at Mu Xin and Lin Junruo.

She didn’t stand on ceremony and spoke directly: “I need you two to help me carry the Tent. Consider it an equal exchange for sleeping in the Tent tonight.”

Mu Xin and Lin Junruo naturally wouldn’t refuse.

Although the Tent was heavy, it wasn’t unbearable. Dividing the weight between the two of them in exchange for a place to stay at night was a good deal.

After all, Points were hard to save, and they were reluctant to spend them.

Even though Lu Jing had given two choices, everyone knew the reality of the situation.

Yellow Hair sighed, picked up a Tent, and said to Orange Hair, “Let’s take turns, one person at a time.”

What else could they do? They had to carry it.

Once the group was ready, they prepared to set out.

At this time, Green Bubbles were everywhere on the mountain. Although the vegetated areas were safe, no one really wanted to head in that direction.

What if something suddenly changed? Given the Realm of Death’s dog-like way of playing, it was sometimes so unreasonable that it was completely unpredictable.

“Let’s look for the Airdrop supplies,” Jian Fan suddenly spoke up.

Lu Jing looked at Jian Fan, but before he could ask, Yellow Hair slapped his forehead in excitement.

“Right! How could I forget about that? When the Airdrop appeared that day, I saw a flash of light. I thought it was a hallucination at the time, but thinking back, that must have been the Airdrop! There are definitely supplies there.”

Yellow Hair was delighted now.

But looking at the Tent in his hand, his joy faded by half. He now hoped that if they really found a Military Box, there would be a few Down Jackets inside.

If Down Jackets didn’t fit the theme of a Military Box, then a Military Overcoat would be perfectly fine too!

Hearing about the Airdrop supplies, everyone agreed with Jian Fan’s suggestion.

On that day, Yellow Hair was the only one who had noticed the light. After a moment of recollection, he quickly pointed the group in a direction.

It was only a rough estimate; the specifics would depend on their own exploration.

With Lu Jing still leading the way with the Sniper Rifle over his shoulder, the group began their day’s journey of exploring the Deserted Island.

They walked along the beach toward the direction where the light had appeared that night.

As time passed, the sun gradually rose. Walking on the sand, the group was soon drenched in sweat from the heat. They immediately abandoned the beach and opted for the nearby vegetated area instead.

The group continued forward.

In addition to searching for the Airdrop, they also needed to find food.

After they had plucked from the banana and coconut trees for two days, their stock was slowly running low. If they didn’t find new food soon, they would quickly face the predicament of lacking both food and water.
Perhaps because they were still navigating the outer regions, they hadn’t found anything edible yet.

Along the way, the group grew tired and sat down to rest for a while. They ate the bananas they had brought to stave off hunger, and after a brief recovery, they set out once more.

They didn’t know how long they had been walking, but with no food in sight and no sign of an Airdrop, some people were starting to get restless.

Orange Hair, for instance.

He didn’t say anything outright, but his frequent sighs and increasingly impatient expression made his feelings clear.

Yellow Hair had a better mindset. He reached out and patted Orange Hair on the shoulder to comfort him.

Orange Hair brushed Yellow Hair’s hand away, though his expression did soften slightly.

Even though they hadn’t made any progress yet, being part of a group was still better than when it had just been the two of them. Back then, even though they had each other, it hadn’t felt much different from being alone compared to their current situation.

Naturally, someone noticed the interaction between the two.

Qin Nan glanced at them and spoke up. “Is it possible that the Supply Box has already been taken by someone else?”

Orange Hair immediately turned his gaze toward him.

“According to the game, there should be other Players. Even though we haven’t encountered any yet, it doesn’t mean they aren’t there. Assuming there are, if we can find a Military Box, so can they. Or, there’s another possibility-the Military Box in this direction was also on the beach and was swallowed up when the Green Bubbles appeared last time,” Qin Nan said.

If that were the case, no matter how hard they searched, they would never find it.

Lu Jing stopped and asked, “So what’s the plan? Keep looking, or head back?”

Orange Hair was already starting to have second thoughts. “I think… maybe we should just go back? If we turn back now and pick more bananas, at least we’ll have enough to get through the night. Otherwise, if we keep pushing on like this, finding food for tonight is going to be a problem.”

Orange Hair’s point made several people hesitate.

If they wanted to leave, exploring this Deserted Island was a necessity. This meant the path ahead was one they would eventually have to walk. However, whether to do it now or wait until tomorrow or the day after was the question. If they kept going and failed to find food, they would still have to trek all the way back…

Thinking about the distance they had already covered, the group felt a weight of pressure in their hearts.

Lu Jing saw their hesitant expressions and knew exactly what they were thinking.

“If it’s not working out, we’ll go back.” Lu Jing wasn’t the type to agonize over decisions. Since everyone was already wavering, forcing them to continue would only breed resentment.

However, Lu Jing was also getting a bit tired of leading such a large group.

If it were just him and Qin Weiyi, they might move a bit slower in terms of sheer numbers, but they would definitely be faster than they were now. At this rate of exploration, how long would it take him to fully map out this Deserted Island?

Lu Jing was already considering whether he should convince Qin Weiyi for the two of them to strike out on their own.

“Let’s go back,” Qi Shuping agreed.

Better safe than sorry. This world was of vital importance to her, so she preferred a more cautious approach.

The others were already leaning that way, and now that Qi Shuping had spoken, the matter seemed settled.

But just as everyone turned around, preparing to head back the way they came, suddenly-

*Bang.*

*Bang, bang, bang.*

It was the sound of gunfire.
