Chapter 215
Chapter 215
Jian Fan looked at Shi Chen.
“Anything else?” he asked.
Shi Chen nodded. “Two more things.”
His second clue came after he left the shop and continued along the road until he found the greenhouse.
“There were clearly two doors, but both led to the same exit,” Shi Chen said. The mystery had bothered him enough that he remained there for a long time.
Eventually, unable to make sense of it, he left and continued onward.
“The greenhouse’s other exit leads to another map,” Jian Fan explained briefly. “What was the final clue?”
After leaving the greenhouse, Shi Chen had initially walked away from the Ferris wheel. Along that road, he discovered five gravestones.
“Gravestones?” Qin Nan exclaimed. Five of them, no less.
“Whose?” Jian Fan asked.
Shi Chen shook his head. “There were no names. They were completely blank. And they stood right beside the road, where anyone could see them. I’ve never heard of an amusement park placing gravestones on a roadside. I almost thought there was a haunted house nearby, but the closest building was an employee administration office.”
Then Shi Chen asked, “What do you mean by another map?”
“We were on a different map with another greenhouse. One greenhouse exit leads to the amusement park, and the other leads to the map where we started,” Qin Nan explained.
Shi Chen understood.
No wonder he had wandered for so long and seen only one unfamiliar woman.
Yang Zhen raised an eyebrow. “So all of you were on that map? The amusement park had only me and this big dumb oaf?”
A big dumb oaf?
Shi Chen froze, then gave Yang Zhen an indescribable look.
What about him was dumb or oafish? They had suffered the same fate, so why was there discrimination within their ranks?
The others were taken aback too.
Qin Weiyi even glanced at Lu Jing.
He thought the title suited Lu Jing better.
“Why are you all looking at me?” Yang Zhen clearly saw nothing wrong with what she had said.
Jian Fan had no interest in discussing irrelevant matters. He asked directly, “What did you find? Assuming you still want to trade one question for one answer.”
Yang Zhen: “…”
At that rate, they would never reach the heart of the matter.
She studied Jian Fan suspiciously.
This was her first world with his group, and she knew nothing about them. Their earlier deductions, spoken openly in front of her, had allowed her to infer a few things despite their lack of explanation.
But she couldn’t tell whether any of it was true or whether they had staged the entire exchange to deceive her.
After considering the group, Yang Zhen decided to take a gamble.
She had always trusted her eye for people.
“That couple didn’t commit suicide,” she said.
Everyone stared in shock. Yellow Hair asked incredulously, “Were you feeding us false clues to pry out our information?”
Ignoring him, Yang Zhen looked directly at Jian Fan. “I wouldn’t call it deception. The documents do say suicide. I concluded otherwise myself.”
Yang Zhen had begun searching as soon as she arrived in the amusement park.
She quickly discovered something unusual.
A castle-like building stood in the park, its perimeter sealed with red tape. On the ground directly opposite the castle were two human outlines drawn in white chalk, surrounded by bloodstains. Several evidence markers had been placed near the stains and outlines.
“It was obviously a crime scene,” Yang Zhen said.
One glance told her that someone had died there and the area had been sealed off.
Without further hesitation, she entered the restricted zone.
She searched it, then stood where the incident had occurred and looked up.
A death scene was bound to contain clues, so Yang Zhen immediately chose to investigate it. Judging from the scene, the victims had fallen from a building.
And what building stood directly before her but the castle?
Yang Zhen went inside.
In a small first-floor sitting room, she found several documents on a coffee table. She took them and skimmed them as she climbed upstairs.
Now she pulled several folded sheets from her pocket and handed them to Jian Fan.
They contained information about the case.
These documents were the source of the facts Yang Zhen had traded them.
They listed the two victims’ basic information and included photographs, confirming that they were Little Princess’s parents. The papers also gave the time of the incident and the investigation’s final conclusion.
After Jian Corporation went bankrupt, the married couple had been unable to bear the blow and arranged to leap to their deaths together at the amusement park.
“I went to the roof. There were signs of a struggle, and someone else besides the two victims had been present. They didn’t kill themselves. Someone pushed them off,” Yang Zhen said directly.
Jian Fan did not seriously doubt her.
If these events were represented here, Little Princess had to know about them too.
Unless she had a terrible relationship with her parents, learning that their deaths concealed another truth could not possibly leave her unmoved.
And if Jian Fan connected this with his earlier theory, then one of the five men might have murdered Little Princess’s parents–or all five might share the guilt.
“A romance-brained heroine suddenly turns into a murder mystery?” Qin Nan had not expected the story to veer this way.
“If that’s true, then Little Princess’s goal should be revenge. Why does she still need to select a sixth male lead?” Lin Junruo asked, unable to understand.
Jian Fan smiled. “The sixth male lead may not be equivalent to the first five.”
Lin Junruo waited for him to explain.
“The five male leads were the result of Little Princess being young, naive, and deceived. Now she wants to choose a new male lead from among us, undoubtedly for revenge. And for revenge…” Jian Fan rubbed his fingertips together. “She is using a trial of life and death to select an assassin.”
He might be called a male lead, but in truth he would be a killing machine drenched in blood. That fit Little Princess’s standards perfectly.
“Damn,” Qin Nan murmured.
Of course, these remained theories. They could not yet be certain.
Jian Fan looked at Yang Zhen. “Take us to the castle.”
Yang Zhen didn’t mind.
She had already searched it. If they could uncover more clues, all the better. However–
Yang Zhen smiled. “I don’t make losing deals.”
Jian Fan wasn’t surprised. He nodded. “We share whatever we find.”
