Chapter 135
Chapter 135
Jian Fan was completely unmoved by the commotion outside.
He walked up to the mirror and reached out to feel along its edge. His movements were meticulous. Shi Chen had no idea what Jian Fan was trying to do, but he didn’t ask. He simply stood to the side and watched.
No one knew what Jian Fan had found, but he suddenly reached out with both hands, gripped both sides of the mirror, and gave it a slight tug.
Shi Chen watched as Jian Fan removed that half-mirror from the wall.
Shi Chen was still wondering what Jian Fan was trying to do, but before he could ask, his gaze landed on the wall, and he abruptly fell silent.
Once the mirror was moved aside, what lay behind it was plain to see.
There was a small hole in the wall, and clearly, something had been placed inside it.
Shi Chen blinked. That… looked like a key?
Jian Fan remained calm. He reached out, took the key, and then headed outside.
Qin Nan was staring at the Red Mist ahead. When he saw Jian Fan come out, he hurriedly said, “Jian Fan, something’s happened.”
Hearing this, Jian Fan glanced at the Red Mist drifting toward them, then said evenly, “I found the key.”
Qin Weiyi, who had been browsing the Points Mall, paused. He looked up. “You found it? It really was in the bathroom?”
Jian Fan gave a soft “Mm” and was already walking toward the door.
Everyone turned to look at Jian Fan.
Jian Fan inserted the key into the lock. That simple action undoubtedly pulled at everyone’s nerves.
Qin Nan felt as if all the sounds around him had receded far away. He just stared at Jian Fan, watching him turn the key. Then-with a click, the sound seemed to echo in his ears like it had been amplified through speakers, and at the same time, it dragged him back into the world before him.
Jian Fan had successfully opened the door.
He was the first to leave the dorm room. Then he stood in the doorway, watching the situation inside without making any other move.
Seeing Jian Fan go out, the others immediately followed.
The Red Mist was still behind them. Everyone felt a little panicked. Their original plan had been to run the moment they left the dorm, but when they saw Jian Fan standing there as if nothing were wrong, after a moment’s hesitation, none of them chose to leave. Instead, they stopped at the dorm room entrance as well.
Qin Nan was squeezed in the middle.
After he got out of the dorm, he stood beside Jian Fan and turned to look at the red fog.
Lu Jing was the last one out. When he came through, he casually shut the door behind him. At the same time, Qin Nan saw that the Red Mist had already reached the cabinet by the door-the exact place where their group had been standing just now.
That was close.
Qin Nan’s heart still thudded with lingering fear.
They stood at the door for quite a while, but no Red Mist seeped out from under the crack.
Qin Weiyi raised an eyebrow and said, “The Red Mist is limited to the dorm room?”
“Probably,” Jian Fan replied.
Then he turned and began examining the environment they were in.
They were currently in a corridor. It wasn’t wide, about two meters across, and identical dorm rooms lined both sides.
Above their heads was a row of electric lights. Perhaps because the place had already been abandoned, quite a few of the lights were broken, making the corridor rather dim.
The entire hallway could be taken in at a glance.
Qin Weiyi looked it over, then asked, “Where was it?”
“Behind the mirror,” Jian Fan answered.
The mirror had been hanging there perfectly normally. For a while, it really hadn’t occurred to anyone to mess with it.
But-
“How did you think to move that mirror?” Qin Nan asked.
Jian Fan glanced at Qin Nan and replied, “It was only half a mirror.”
“I know. It was just half a mirror, right? The other half was broken,” Qin Nan said as if it were obvious. After he finished speaking, he froze for a moment, then understood.
Jian Fan raised an eyebrow at them.
The mirror in the bathroom was only half there. Maybe it was because the place had been abandoned, but if that were the case, then like that cabinet door hanging on by a thread, the other half of the mirror should have left wreckage behind in the bathroom after falling off.
There should have been shards, at least.
But there weren’t.
Which meant there was something wrong with the mirror.
At first, Jian Fan had been thinking about what was off about that line of writing. For a moment, his attention really had been drawn away by the red words, and he had forgotten this detail. But overlooking it briefly didn’t mean he had forgotten it entirely.
So after realizing it, Jian Fan had started checking the mirror.
The cracked edge of the mirror was very even. Rather than looking like it had broken on its own, it looked more as if someone had deliberately cut it. That was why Jian Fan had thought to move the mirror in the first place.
The only thing he hadn’t expected was that the hidden space behind the mirror would turn out to contain the key that led straight out of the dorm room.
“Why would the key be behind the mirror?” Qin Weiyi asked, baffled.
Jian Fan shook his head. “No idea.”
“We’re out, aren’t we? Who cares? Let’s keep going,” Yellow Hair said, much more “carefree” about it.
Jian Fan gave a quiet “Mm.”
Qin Weiyi and the others all knew what Jian Fan was capable of. As for Wen Xi’s group of four, after Jian Fan found the key, they had also formed a bit of an impression of him. Seeing him agree with Yellow Hair, they said nothing against it, which counted as tacit approval.
At the moment, they were standing in the middle of the corridor. Looking left and right, both ends stretched all the way to a wall, each with a window set into it.
There should be an entrance to the Stairs here, but whether it was on the left or the right, they couldn’t be sure yet.
“Which way?” Qin Nan asked after sweeping his gaze around.
“Either,” Jian Fan replied.
Qin Weiyi had come to understand Jian Fan’s personality a little by now. He glanced both ways and said, “Let’s go left first.”
Jian Fan didn’t say anything.
Qin Weiyi simply turned and headed left. Lu Jing immediately followed, and Jian Fan moved along with them as well. Before leaving, however, his gaze swept over the door.
Dorm room, 6103.
The dorm room they had just been in was 6103.
Jian Fan silently committed the number to memory.
The group headed left.
When they were almost at the end, they finally found an entrance to the Stairs on the right. Unfortunately, an iron gate had been installed there, sealing off the entire entrance.
Lu Jing stepped forward and pushed at the iron gate, but it didn’t budge.
There was no doubt the gate was locked.
No one was surprised.
Since they already understood this world to be an escape room, then there would naturally be one stage after another. It couldn’t possibly be as simple as getting out of one little dorm room.
The question was, where were they supposed to find the key to the iron gate?
“Go right,” Jian Fan said again.
No one objected.
The group turned back and headed in the other direction.
Again, when they were almost at the end, they found an entrance to the Stairs on their left. Just like the one on the other side, it had an iron gate, and the gate was locked.
After escaping that dorm room, their group was trapped on this floor.
This floor consisted of nothing but the corridor and student dorm rooms.
“What now?” Yellow Hair stared at the iron gate, looking troubled.
Qin Nan gave a laugh and said, “The dormitory supervisor’s room.”
“What?” Yellow Hair turned to look at Qin Nan.
Qin Nan didn’t say anything. He only reached out and pointed at a room not far from them. A sign hung outside the room, with the five words “dormitory supervisor’s room” written clearly on it.
“The dormitory supervisor is definitely going to have keys,” Mu Xin said.
