Chapter 131
Chapter 131
The group boarded the bus one after another.
Jian Fan still sat with Qin Nan, while Mu Xin took the seat in front of them.
Lin Junruo hesitated for a moment, then spoke to Mu Xin. “Can I sit here?”
Mu Xin nodded. “Go ahead.”
Only after getting permission did the tension in Lin Junruo’s heart ease. She smiled and sat down beside Mu Xin.
Although Jian Fan and the others had not fully accepted her as a teammate, Lin Junruo had managed to figure out one thing: as long as it did not affect their own interests, the three of them did not mind giving her a hand.
Now that she understood that, Lin Junruo naturally was not stupid enough to let this chance slip by.
Following Jian Fan and the others was clearly safer, and she could even observe the Big Shot up close and learn from them.
Once the four of them were seated, the other four had already taken their places as well.
Qin Weiyi was naturally still with Lu Jing, while Yellow Hair did not think too much about it and sat directly in the row behind them. Xia Zeqin, meanwhile, once again chose the very front, sitting there alone as if he did not care in the slightest that he had become the one pushed to the fringes of the group.
Not long after the eight of them got on the bus, there was movement outside.
This time, four people appeared together.
Three men and one woman.
As the four of them boarded, they were still talking. From what they were saying, it seemed to be about what they had experienced in the previous world, and they did not seem to care that eight new Partner had appeared around them.
“It’s too strange. I still can’t figure it out even now,” said the man walking at the front. He frowned and looked at the woman beside him. “Wen Xi, what do you think? I still don’t believe that’s something Ah Zheng would do.”
The woman, Wen Xi, also had her brows drawn together. Aside from confusion, there was an even heavier worry in her expression. “I don’t know. I should believe him, but the facts are right in front of me, and I…”
The man sighed and reached out to pat Wen Xi on the shoulder.
“You people just think of others too simply. In order to survive, what wouldn’t someone do? Ah Zheng only made the same choice many people would make.”
The man who had fallen half a step behind gave a derisive laugh as he spoke.
Wen Xi stopped and turned to look at him, her voice icy. “Don’t force your way of thinking onto Ah Zheng.”
The man let out a “ha,” looking at Wen Xi as though he found her utterly ridiculous. “Wen Xi, you need to get one thing straight. From beginning to end, I’ve been on your side. Not only did I not betray you, I even helped you at the critical moment. As for this Ah Zheng of yours, he tried to get you killed.”
Wen Xi’s face instantly went deathly pale.
Qin Nan and the others had originally been talking among themselves, but after hearing their conversation, they all turned to look over.
The man walking beside Wen Xi noticed that her expression was wrong. He frowned, then tried to smooth things over. “All right, it’s already over. Stop talking about it. Get on the bus first. We still have plenty to deal with after this.”
The man who had spoken gave a soft sneer, strode forward, shoved past Wen Xi, and was the first to choose a seat.
“Sit down first,” the other man said, patting Wen Xi on the shoulder.
Yellow Hair watched the four of them take their seats. His eyes darted, and then he smiled and greeted them. “Brother, what should I call you? I’m Sheng Mao. You can just call me Yellow Hair.”
Of the four, the two men sat together, while Wen Xi sat with the man who had been walking beside her earlier.
The man beside Wen Xi was the first to turn his gaze over. He looked at Yellow Hair, and seeing that his smile seemed friendly enough, paused before saying, “Liu Ji.”
“Brother Liu Ji.” Yellow Hair nodded, then shifted his gaze to Wen Xi. “And this beauty?”
Wen Xi turned to look at him and gave Yellow Hair a slight nod. “Wen Xi.”
“Beauty Wen,” Yellow Hair called out, then turned his attention to the two men behind her.
“Xu Yijie.” The one who spoke was the man who had clashed with Wen Xi earlier.
After he finished, the other man, who had remained silent the entire time, finally opened his mouth. “Shi Chen.”
Once all four of them had given their names, Liu Ji smiled mildly and asked, “And how should we address the rest of you?”
Before Qin Nan and the others could speak, Yellow Hair immediately launched into an enthusiastic introduction. “This here is Lu Jing. His combat power is rock solid. This is Qin Weiyi. Don’t let his age fool you-his brain is top-tier. This is Jian Fan. We only made it out of the last world thanks to him. Next to him is his Partner, Qin Nan, then Mu Xin, and Miss Junruo.”
At the end, Yellow Hair glanced at Xia Zeqin, but before he could say anything, Xia Zeqin had already turned his head and looked over, his tone flat. “Xia Zeqin.”
The moment Xia Zeqin spoke, Qin Nan’s guard went up.
He was a dangerous person. If they could isolate him, that would naturally be for the best. But now that he had taken the initiative to speak, Qin Nan immediately grew tense. Was he trying to win over the four new Player arrivals?
The thought flashed through his mind, and Qin Nan instantly felt he couldn’t just sit by and do nothing.
He smiled and said to Yellow Hair, “You’re the smooth talker here, huh? Just exposing all our cards like that?”
Yellow Hair had gotten along fairly well with Qin Nan before. Hearing him say that, he laughed. “Hey, then should I expose my own cards too?”
“Go on,” Qin Nan said with a smile.
Yellow Hair spread his hands. “Then I’ll be honest. I’m just here to get carried. But it’s not like I’m completely useless. I can liven up the atmosphere, can’t I?”
The game had not begun yet, so everyone cooperated and laughed along.
Everyone except Xia Zeqin.
After the laughter faded, Qin Nan looked at Wen Xi and the others, then probed, “Only the four of you are left. Your last world must have been pretty intense, huh?”
At the mention of this, all four of them wore faint, indifferent expressions.
Xu Yijie clearly did not have the best temper. Hearing Qin Nan’s words, he frowned and snapped, “If you know, why ask?”
Liu Ji did not want to get on bad terms with the others right from the start. Hearing this, he quickly smoothed things over. “Sorry about that. We just went through some bad things, so our moods are a little volatile.”
“No, I should be the one apologizing,” Qin Nan said.
Qin Nan had said it on purpose.
He was testing the four people in front of him.
Xu Yijie had a violent temper, while Liu Ji always maintained a gentle attitude and acted as the glue holding their four-person team together. Shi Chen seemed like someone who did not like to talk, and he also seemed a little introverted. As for Wen Xi-
Qin Nan’s gaze landed on Wen Xi.
She seemed a little distracted.
Qin Nan thought of the Ah Zheng they had mentioned earlier. Although he did not know what exactly they had gone through, judging from their attitudes, Qin Nan quietly made a mental note of it.
If there was a chance, perhaps he could ask them properly.
Although Liu Ji did not want to offend Qin Nan’s group, it was also clear that he had no intention of teaming up with them.
After that exchange, everyone fell silent, quietly awaiting the arrival of the new world.
They did not have to wait long.
It did not feel like much time had passed before the bus slowly came to a stop.
