Chapter 70
Chapter 70
Qin Nan and the other two had already arrived on the second floor.
Just as the three of them were about to head out, they suddenly heard the sound of hurried running.
Qin Nan was the first to look over.
The newcomers were wearing masks, making it impossible to see their faces. However, Qin Nan took one look at their running speed and physical builds…
“It looks like Lu Jing and Qin Weiyi,” Qin Nan said.
Jian Fan stopped in his tracks and turned to look.
“The way those two are running, are they in trouble?” Mu Xin frowned.
Lu Jing had spotted the three of them as well, but he didn’t recognize them. He simply shouted to Qin Weiyi, “Xiao Qin, there are three people by the staircase. It looks like they’re going upstairs.”
As he spoke, Lu Jing slowed his pace slightly.
If the people ahead were also enemies, wouldn’t he be delivering Qin Weiyi right to their doorstep?
Hearing this, Qin Weiyi immediately patted Lu Jing on the back. “Stop, put me down.”
Lu Jing braked instantly. Once he was steady, he set Qin Weiyi down.
Qin Weiyi looked toward the three people standing by the stairs.
The five of them stood there, staring at each other across the distance. Everyone was masked, making it impossible to distinguish their identities. Even if they knew who was who, they couldn’t be certain if the people before them were real Players or NPCs who had already replaced them.
Compared to the others, Qin Weiyi was in much more of a hurry than Qin Nan’s group.
“Murder Mystery Game,” Qin Weiyi said.
As soon as those words came out, Qin Nan and the others quickly relaxed.
An NPC who replaced someone would only possess memories of this world; they naturally wouldn’t know that the previous world they experienced was a Murder Mystery Game. This was clearly the real Qin Weiyi.
“Your turn,” Qin Weiyi prompted.
He needed to prove his own authenticity, but he also needed to confirm that the people opposite him were friends, not foes.
Qin Nan quickly provided the answer: “Taiji Diagram.”
Qin Weiyi breathed a sigh of relief and hurried toward the three of them.
“What’s going on with you two?” Qin Nan asked once they were close. “The way you were running just now, it looked like you were fleeing for your lives.”
Qin Weiyi gave a bitter laugh. “Isn’t that exactly what we were doing? I’ve been targeted by a Vampire.”
Qin Nan paused, then silently took a few steps away from him.
Qin Weiyi glanced at him. “What good are those few steps going to do?”
Qin Nan teased, “Shouldn’t I at least show where I stand?”
Jian Fan also looked at Qin Weiyi and asked, “What happened?”
“Who knows? I was originally planning to come here when a woman suddenly stopped Lu Jing and me. She insisted that one of us dance with her. Nine times out of ten, she’s a Vampire who has received the Embrace.” Qin Weiyi felt incredibly unlucky.
Qin Nan thought for a moment and asked, “Your Points shouldn’t be low, right?”
If Jian Fan’s hypothesis held true, then Qin Nan felt that the way Qin Weiyi was being targeted in this world was very likely related to that.
Qin Weiyi didn’t hide it. “Five or six thousand. Why?”
At the mention of this topic, Mu Xin became more solemn. “Just as we thought.”
Qin Weiyi only had five or six thousand points, which wasn’t excessively high. It might not have been obvious in the last world, but in this one, he had encountered the ‘No Minors Allowed’ restriction from the very beginning, which specifically targeted him. Now that the party had started, while they didn’t know the situation of others yet, Qin Weiyi was indeed the only one among their group who had been targeted.
One could call it bad luck, and without Jian Fan’s prior reminder, Mu Xin would have thought the same. But now… all of this was orchestrated by the Realm of Death.
Qin Weiyi instantly became alert. “What do you mean?”
He quickly locked his gaze on Jian Fan. “What did you find?”
Since it was related to Points, it couldn’t have been something Qin Nan deduced. Meanwhile, Mu Xin’s current attitude clearly showed she had just received some form of confirmation from Jian Fan.
“Once you exceed five thousand Points, you will be targeted by the malice of the Realm of Death,” Jian Fan said.
Qin Weiyi’s mind worked quickly, and he immediately inferred the general situation. “The higher the score, the stronger the targeting? This world is primarily gunning for Qi Shuping, and because my Points also reached the threshold for being targeted, it added some difficulty for me as well?”
The group fell silent.
Qin Nan patted Qin Weiyi on the shoulder with some sympathy.
So, sometimes accumulating Points too quickly wasn’t necessarily a good thing. You still needed to be led by a big shot. Take him, for example-the predecessors plant the trees, and the successors enjoy the shade. By the time he had over five thousand Points and needed to face these things, he figured Jian Fan would have already figured out a way to crack the problem.
He would just follow along and coast behind them.
“I thought as much,” Qin Weiyi snorted coldly before returning to the main topic. “Alright, let’s head up first. I expect those people will be catching up soon.”
Jian Fan’s original intention of going to the second floor faded after hearing Qin Weiyi’s words.
“You led people here,” Jian Fan said.
“And?” Qin Weiyi asked.
Jian Fan said with a slight headache, “Do you think the Vampires don’t know we’ve gone to the second floor?”
Qin Weiyi: “…”
Qin Nan thought about it. Originally, they wanted to take advantage of the Vampires leaving their Lair to search for clues. But now, the Vampires knew that the food had delivered itself right to their Lair. This…
Thinking about that scene, it actually seemed almost poetic.
“What do we do now?” Mu Xin realized this as well.
If they didn’t go to the second floor, there were currently no safe places in the Bar. There was Surveillance everywhere. They had finally found a spot by the Stairs that didn’t have any, but then Qin Weiyi had proactively led people right to them.
“Maybe I can run fast enough that they won’t catch up?” Lu Jing suggested.
“What if they do?” Jian Fan asked.
Lu Jing silently shut his mouth.
There was no safe place in the entire Bar right now. Where could they hide? The situation wasn’t at its most critical yet, but if they kept stalling like this and more Vampires gathered, the situation would only become more desperate for them.
“So, are we going up or not?” Qin Weiyi asked.
Jian Fan didn’t answer. He lowered his head, his eyes darkening slightly. “Blindly hiding won’t solve the problem. Perhaps we should be more proactive.”
Qin Nan and the others all looked at Jian Fan.
“What? You want to go head-to-head with the Vampires?” Qin Weiyi asked. He understood the logic, but it depended on whether they could actually beat a Vampire. Otherwise, being rashly proactive was nothing more than throwing their lives away.
Jian Fan suddenly let out a short laugh.
He looked up at Qin Weiyi and asked, “Why can’t we?”
Qin Weiyi froze for a moment. “What are you thinking?”
Jian Fan looked up into the darkness at the top of the Stairs. He spoke slowly, laying out his hypothesis.
“If we only view ourselves as food for the Vampires, we will never be able to clear the game. Death would only be a matter of time. If we want to survive and leave this place, the only way is to eliminate the Vampires,” Jian Fan said, his tone solemn. “The key lies in-how to eliminate them.”
“Fighting a pack of Vampires versus fighting just one… what do you all think?” Jian Fan turned and looked at his teammates.
