Chapter 181
Chapter 181
Lin Junruo looked utterly baffled.
“You’re not messing with me, are you?” Lin Junruo still found it hard to believe.
“What do you think?” Yellow Hair shot back, looking aggrieved.
Lin Junruo still didn’t understand. She asked, “What did the System say?”
“It said my similarity was 100%, and deducted 10% experience,” Yellow Hair said.
Lin Junruo was stunned. “100%?”
Yellow Hair nodded. Then he looked at the carpet the two of them were sitting on and said, “The setting matches too, right? The card art had floor-to-ceiling windows and a white carpet in the background too.”
Lin Junruo thought for a moment, then said, “Could it be because the similarity was 100% that it deducted points? Mine was always 90% or 80% before.”
Yellow Hair thought it over, then gritted his teeth and said, “Let’s try again.”
The two of them changed locations.
Lin Junruo simply sat down in front of the vanity, while Yellow Hair stood behind her and made a similar pose. Before long, Yellow Hair heard the System notification again.
“Character Card Similarity: 30%. Character Card experience deducted by 3%. Player, please keep working hard to level up your Character Card.”
Yellow Hair: “???”
Although he wasn’t exactly surprised, the result was still pretty hard to accept.
“How was it?” Lin Junruo immediately asked once Yellow Hair let go of her hair.
Yellow Hair shook his head and said, “Similarity was 30%. It deducted 3%.”
Lin Junruo: “…”
This situation was basically unsolvable.
Could it be that too low didn’t work either?
Lin Junruo thought about it, but swallowed the words back down. If even 100% got points deducted, maybe Yellow Hair simply couldn’t use this method to grind experience. Although she didn’t know why, the thought that Yellow Hair not only hadn’t gained anything but had lost 13% instead made Lin Junruo feel a little guilty.
After all, she was the one who had suggested it.
Yellow Hair, on the other hand, took it pretty well.
He looked around and said, “There shouldn’t be any other clues here. Should we head out and look for the others?”
Lin Junruo stood up. “I’ll follow your lead.”
And with that, their experience-grinding journey came to an end. The two of them prepared to leave the bedroom and check out other places.
But as they headed out and passed in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, Lin Junruo casually glanced outside. Then she stopped and said, “Isn’t that Qin Nan?”
Yellow Hair stopped as well.
The two of them stood in front of the windows and looked down, just in time to see Qin Nan and Lu Jing walking through the courtyard, one behind the other.
Yellow Hair quickly looked around.
He walked to the side, opened a window, and started shouting downstairs, “Qin Nan! Lu Jing! Hey, up here!”
Qin Nan and Lu Jing were walking forward.
Even now, they still hadn’t seen anyone else. They hadn’t run into their teammates, didn’t seem to have encountered any trouble, hadn’t seen a single NPC, and in fact, nothing had happened at all.
Lu Jing didn’t understand anything, and Qin Nan was still somewhat lacking in experience. So the two of them walked through the courtyard with stomachs full of questions.
“What is this world?” Lu Jing asked.
Qin Nan shook his head. “I don’t know.”
He didn’t know what those strange cards were for, nor did he know what was going on with their current environment.
It was at that moment that they suddenly heard someone calling them.
The two of them stopped.
“Lu Jing, did you hear something?” Qin Nan looked at Lu Jing and asked.
Lu Jing nodded and said, not entirely certain, “It sounds like someone’s calling us?” As he spoke, Lu Jing concentrated and listened for a while longer. Finally, he nodded with certainty. “They’re calling both our names.”
Qin Nan had already started looking around the moment Lu Jing spoke.
He soon spotted Yellow Hair standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.
When Yellow Hair saw Qin Nan looking his way, he hurriedly waved at him.
“It’s Yellow Hair,” Qin Nan said with a smile.
Although he wasn’t Jian Fan, the person Qin Nan most wanted to see, Yellow Hair was still a pretty good teammate.
Now that Yellow Hair knew Qin Nan had noticed them, he glanced in Qin Nan’s direction, then looked at where he himself was standing. He immediately made a decision.
“Wait for us there! We’ll come find you!” Yellow Hair shouted outside.
Qin Nan made an “OK” gesture at him. After confirming that Qin Nan understood, Yellow Hair turned to Lin Junruo and said, “Come on. Let’s go outside and meet up with Qin Nan and Lu Jing.”
The situation was fairly obvious.
This was probably a very large mansion. They were inside the house, while Qin Nan and Lu Jing were in the courtyard. If they wanted to regroup, one side would have to go find the other. But since they were inside, even they didn’t know exactly where they were. It would be much harder for Qin Nan and the others to find their way to them, while it would clearly be easier for Yellow Hair and Lin Junruo to find the courtyard.
Lin Junruo nodded.
Yellow Hair quickly led Lin Junruo outside.
Lu Jing asked in confusion, “Yellow Hair said ‘us’? Who else is with him?”
Qin Nan thought back for a moment and said, “It looked like a girl? Lin Junruo or Mu Xin, maybe.”
They had been too far apart, so he couldn’t be sure. He had only vaguely seen that the other person looked like a girl.
Lu Jing sounded a little disappointed when he heard that. “I wonder where Xiao Qin is right now.”
Qin Nan also sighed and said, “I wonder where Jian Fan is.”
Hearing each other, the two exchanged a look and sighed in unison.
At the same time, elsewhere in this unnamed mansion…
Jian Fan was very calm.
After coming out of that passage, he found himself standing in a small, cramped room piled full of odds and ends.
Perhaps the clutter had been stored there for too long, because an unpleasant odor had begun to seep out of it. However, Jian Fan merely frowned slightly before his expression returned to calm.
It was as if there was nothing unusual about the place at all.
Jian Fan swept his gaze around the storage room. After failing to notice any clues, he quickly chose to leave.
He opened the door behind him.
Outside the storage room was an empty little courtyard. Beyond the courtyard stood a huge villa. From where he was now, he seemed to be at the villa’s back entrance.
Jian Fan looked around but found nothing of note, so he walked straight toward the back door of the villa.
The back door was ajar.
Jian Fan pushed it open. He didn’t rush inside. Instead, he first surveyed his surroundings and only walked in after confirming that there was no immediate danger.
Past the back door was a corridor only about two or three meters long. Very soon, the space before him suddenly opened up.
Jian Fan stopped. His gaze swept over the place he now stood in, taking it all in piece by piece.
It was a villa with a somewhat Chinese-style design.
At the moment, the villa was completely empty. Not a single person could be seen.
Jian Fan wasn’t in a hurry. He simply began wandering through the villa to see if he could discover anything. However, because the villa was so large, even after wandering around for quite a while, he had only been moving back and forth on the first floor. In fact, he hadn’t even finished exploring the first floor yet.
Just then, he faintly heard a voice.
“Qin Nan.”
Jian Fan abruptly stopped in his tracks, his entire body going still. Then he focused, trying to locate the source of that voice.
Qin Nan.
Jian Fan heard someone calling his name again.
