Chapter 113

The four of them exerted a great deal of effort and finally managed to move the Military Box over.

Nothing unexpected happened along the way.

Qin Nan breathed a sigh of relief and then called out to Lu Jing, “Lu Jing, hurry up and see what’s inside.”

Lu Jing didn’t stand on ceremony.

With his Sniper Rifle slung across his back, he stepped forward. The Military Box had already been opened by the Rabbit earlier. Lu Jing did a quick search through it and pulled out two Sniper Rifles similar to his own. After rummaging further, he pulled out two Military Overcoats.

“Yellow Hair and Orange Hair took a risk this time, so they get one Military Overcoat to share. Qian Xing gets one for himself. Any objections?” Lu Jing began distributing the resources directly.

Yellow Hair’s eyes lit up when he saw the Military Overcoat. This was exactly what he had been hoping for; hadn’t he just been wishing for one?

As for why he and Orange Hair had to share one while Qian Xing got one to himself, it was easy enough to understand. Although they were technically at a disadvantage, both Yellow Hair and Orange Hair nodded in agreement. It was already quite good of Lu Jing to handle it this way.

Even though they nodded, they didn’t have much of a say since they were the beneficiaries. The two of them stood where they were and didn’t move immediately.

“Just distribute it as you see fit,” Qin Nan spoke up. Seeing that no one else was making a move, Qin Nan decided to be the one to voice their stance.

Lu Jing had contributed the most effort toward getting this Military Box, followed by Jian Fan, who had come up with the plan. Then there were the four of them who did the heavy lifting. The others didn’t really have any right to complain.

Lu Jing gave a grunt of affirmation, then handed one Military Overcoat to Yellow Hair and the other to Qian Xing.

Qian Xing stepped forward to take it, saying somewhat sheepishly, “I’m getting the better end of the deal here. I can put in more effort later, or take a smaller share of other things.”

“What do you mean, better end of the deal?” Lu Jing asked, somewhat confused.

Qian Xing pointed at Yellow Hair and Orange Hair.

Those two had to share one Military Overcoat, while he got one all to himself. Wasn’t that getting the better deal?

“My Xiao Qin still needs to stay in your Tent. This half of a Military Overcoat is to cover Xiao Qin’s lodging fee,” Lu Jing said.

Qian Xing was stunned for a moment, then silently retreated with his Military Overcoat.

Never mind, he had overthought it.

Lu Jing rummaged around inside again, then let out a short laugh. “You guys are in luck too,” he said, pulling out a Tent and handing it directly to Qin Nan.

The only Tent was given to Qin Nan and Jian Fan, and no one had any objections.

After that, only small items remained.

Lu Jing replenished some ammunition, then glanced at the remaining contents before pulling out a crate of water and a box of Compressed Biscuits.

“Our luck really is good this time. Today’s food is sorted out.” Lu Jing moved the water to the side while calling out to the others, “The rest are just small things. See if there’s anything you need.”

The others didn’t hold back and stepped forward to take a look.

The supplies in this Military Box were clearly more abundant than the previous ones. The water and Compressed Biscuits alone solved a lot of problems. However, after the large items were taken, there wasn’t much left-mostly just miscellaneous bits and pieces.

But they weren’t entirely useless.

Mu Xin was quick-handed and pulled a Military Backpack out from the box.

As for the other items, Mu Xin didn’t take them, and the others weren’t interested either.

Even though they were small, they would still be a burden to carry around.

Qin Nan saw the bag in Mu Xin’s hand and chuckled. “That’s a good find.”

“I think so too,” Mu Xin replied.

When they were picking bananas earlier, they had to carry them in their hands because they had nowhere to put them. Now that she had a bag, she could put any food they encountered inside.
Once everyone had chosen their items, Lu Jing had already unpacked the water and Compressed Biscuits.

There were twelve bottles of water in a crate. With eleven people here, there was one extra. Lu Jing simply kept the spare for himself. “I’m taking two bottles, alright?”

Though he was asking the group, Lu Jing had already tucked the water away.

He exerted the most physical energy, so his need for water was significantly higher than everyone else’s.

Aside from that, the Compressed Biscuits couldn’t be divided evenly either.

There were twenty-four packs in total. After giving everyone two packs, two remained. Lu Jing kept one for himself and gave the other to Qin Nan.

“Qin Nan did the heavy lifting back at the Green Bubbles. No objections, right?” Lu Jing asked the others while handing the item to Qin Nan.

It wasn’t much of a question.

However, no one objected.

Truth be told, the items in the Military Box should have been divided among those who contributed most. Among them, Lu Jing was the most capable, so everyone felt satisfied with what they had in hand.

After distributing the supplies, the sky began to darken.

Lu Jing quickly urged everyone to pack up and find a place to stay for the night.

Since there were enemies about, they couldn’t choose a campsite as carelessly as they had yesterday; otherwise, they would be too exposed. They would be killed by the enemy before they even encountered the Green Bubbles.

The beach offered no cover, which was clearly out of the question. Lu Jing led the group a short distance into the woods.

He scouted around and finally found a spot just before the light failed completely.

Tonight’s campsite was inside the woods, behind a thicket of bushes.

Trees and grass surrounded the area, providing decent concealment. However, the space enclosed by the grass was small. Lu Jing flattened some of the vegetation to squeeze out enough room for the eleven of them to spend the night.

Once the spot was settled, Lu Jing hurried to start a Fire. Qin Nan and a few others set up the Tents, while some went nearby to gather stones.

Since they were surrounded by grass, they had to use stones to create a firebreak; otherwise, they would likely burn themselves alive.

By the time they finished these tasks, night had fallen completely. Only the central campfire emitted a faint glow, with the Tents pitched around it.

Fearing discovery by the enemy, they only lit one fire tonight, primarily to make it easier for them to move around for now.

Fortunately, everyone could stay in Tents tonight, and they had Down Jackets and Military Overcoats. Only the two young girls, Mu Xin and Lin Junruo, still lacked warm clothing, but with three people to a tent, they could huddle together for warmth and manage well enough.

Once everything was set up, everyone retreated into their respective Tents and took out their water and Compressed Biscuits.

They didn’t dare eat everything, needing to save some as food for tomorrow morning.

When everyone had finished eating and those not on watch had gradually settled down to sleep, Lu Jing immediately extinguished the Fire.

Even though the light had been mostly concealed, some glow still leaked out, making it easy for an enemy to spot them. It had been a necessity earlier because they couldn’t work in the dark, but now that everything was settled, the fire was no longer needed.

As for the night watch, after a while, the Starry Sky provided enough illumination that it wasn’t so dark they couldn’t see anything at all.

That night, no one slept very soundly.

This was because of the Rabbit that knew how to fire a gun.

However, nothing unexpected happened throughout the night.

The night passed in silence.
